Chapter Eleven.

“If I have never seen you look more beautiful then ever.”, Ryan said, surprising Lillian. She was two busy trying to latch the bracelet around her wrist she didn’t hear him come into the room. She was just finishing up getting ready for the Valentine dance. They weren’t able to get each other this year, but that’s okay. Lillian didn’t need anything to know Ryan loves her.

She smiled and turned around to him, “I look beautiful?”, she asked.

“Yes, I almost thought you weren’t the same sweat pants and t-shirt wearing Lillian.”, he said, walking into the room.

“Nice sweet talk.”, she said, then holding out her wrist. “Help?”, she asked, since she couldn’t hook it herself. Once he hooked it together, she stepped towards him and hugged him, “You look pretty handsome, I’ll admit.”.

He put his arms around her waist and frowned, “I didn’t get the job.”.

Lillian frowned, but she nodded, “That’s okay, I know it’s hard find work. It was hard the first time.”.

He reached up and twirled a strain of hair that wasn’t in her bun around her finger, “I’ll admit, Duncan’s mom has really nice choices in dress.”, he said. “She didn’t look that old, how old is she? Thirty five at least, you think me and her would make a cute couple?”, he asked, raising an eyebrow and she smacked her tongue against her teeth, hitting his arm.

“She’s a married women,”, she said. “And ha-ha, nice joke.”.

She leant up just a little since she wore two inch heels and kissed him. Life wasn’t perfect, but things between Lillian and Ryan have been better. Ryan still working at the restaurant with Hanna, but Lillian is trying her best to keep herself from being jealous. Ryan hasn’t really given her any other reason to not trust him, so she’s just doing that. Trusting him.

Though, she still felt iffy about him being there. He hasn’t found another job and she can understand it’s not easy these days, but not one of them hired him? He tried four places already.

Ryan was the first to pull away, “Come on, we better get Zane to your mom if you want to get to the dance.”.

                ….

Lillian kissed Zane a few times on the cheeks and held him close to her chest to hug him, “Ohhh, I’ll miss you.”, she said, giving him another kiss. “Be a good boy for aunt Cassie and grandma, okay.”.

Cassandra rolled her eyes and took him from her, “Oh your acting like your never going to see him again.”, she said, whipping his eyes where a little lip stick was. “Now you’ll have to reply your lipstick cause you got it all over him.”.

She gave her sister a look, “Whatever. Now remember, he’ll need a bottle in two hours and before he goes to sleep, which is usually ten, but if he doesn’t, just face him toward a TV with his bottle, he’ll just doze right off.”, she said.

“I know, Lillian.”, she said, groaning. “I have watched him before.”.

“Not at night, your usually at some friends house.”, she said. She then leaned down and kissed him one more time, petting his head, “Love you.”, she said before leaving her parents house and went back over to Ryan’s car.

                “Ready?”, he asked.

                She smiled and nodded, “Yes.”.

                ….

When Lillian walked into the gym room, she was clutching Ryan’s hand a little tightly. She hated to admit it, but she was a little nervous. She never dressed up so nicely and no body ever seen her in a dress. And she had to dance in front of everyone she knows.

Lillian saw Jeanette over with some of her friends, so she told Ryan she going to go say hi and he went over to where his friends were standing. Lillian shyly walked over to Jeanette table and she tapped on her shoulder.

Jeanette turned her head and her eyes lit up, smiling as she got up, “Wow!”, she said, sounding impressed. “Your one hot mama.”, she said, hugging her.

Lillian smiled, bring her hand up to the back of her neck, “Well, Ryan’s mom did my hair.”.

“Which look lovely.”, Jeanette said, turning around a little to her friends. “Don’t you guys think?”, she asked them.

“Yeah, Lil, I’m impressed.”, Britt said, but she didn’t sound so impressed as Jeanette said. “But doesn’t it look a little…tight?”.

Lillian frowned, bring her hands down to her stomach. She didn’t think it look tight and it wasn’t tight at all. But does it look tight on her?

“Be quiet, Britt.”, Jeanette said. “She’s wrong, only tight place it looks is on your curves, which look amazing.”, she said. She then crossed her arms over her chest and smirked, “All these years I tried to get you in a nice dress and now you end up turning to one?”.

Lillian smiled and chuckled, “I wanted to look nice for one night, something—”.

“Something that doesn’t have baby throw up on it?”, Britt asked.

Lillian was just getting annoyed with Britt now, she has been saying way to many bullshit to her this year it and Lillian felt like she was done with it. She just kept her head held up high, not letting Britt ruin her night.

She turned to leave, but Jeanette grabbed her hand, “No, hold up.”, she said and Lillian turned back to her, a little confused. Jeanette turned to Britt, “Look here, Brittney, Lillian is my friend, she actually means more then you. If you don’t back off, you can leave and could hang out with someone else. I forgave Lillian, leave her alone.”.

Britt looked a little surprised and Lillian got a little teary eyed, but she held them back. She smiled at Jeanette and she smiled back at her. She sat down next at the table and talked with, which felt like forever ago they could actually sit down together and just talk about anything but like Zane having a rash or anything other but teenager girl stuff.

It was when somebody tapped on her shoulder and she turned to look to see who it was, but no one was there. Her eyebrows quickly came together until the other side of her shoulder was tapped and she quickly turned, seeing a grinning Duncan.

                “Hey,”, he said.

“Oh hey.”, she said, chuckling. She got up from the chair and hugged him for a second. She then smiled at Emily, “You look really nice, Emily.”, she said, looking at Emily blue strapless dress.

She gave her a small smile, “Thanks. You look really nice, to Lillian.”.

It was quiet for a second and awkward until Duncan broke it, “So, um, yeah. Save me a dance later?”, he asked and Lillian was a little surprised he asked her that in front of his date who looked a little surprised also, but Duncan didn’t seem to realize it since he just kept smiling at her. How to add more awkwardness, “Un, sure, maybe if we have time later.”.

He nodded and turned, leaving with Emily.

Lillian turned and sat down, taking a sip of her soda when Britt said something, “Who’s that girl hugging Ryan?”, she asked.

Lillian almost coughed on her drink and she turned around, seeing what she was talking about. She looked for Ryan and saw him near the snack table, seeing him hug Hanna. Lillian was totally confused. What is she doing here? She doesn’t go to school here, so how would she know about it and why is she here? Lillian was sure you had to be a student to come.

“Hanna?”, Britt asked, sounding amused at how surprised Lillian was.

She turned back to her, “She’s a friend.”, she hissed at her before getting up from the table and made her way over to them. Hanna moved over to Dillon, talking to him. Lillian came up to Ryan, leaning real close to him, “Ryan, explain.”, she whispered to him.

Ryan looked like a deer in front of a headlight before he chuckled innocently, “Oh, Dillon didn’t have a date and Hanna never been to a dance since she goes to an all girl catholic school so I suggested they could go together.”.

“Oh,”, Lillian said, forcing a smile and leant over to look at Hanna who waved at her and her smile tighten on her face, “Oh! That’s just so nice of you, Ryan.”, she said, putting her hand behind him and grabbed his right side, squeezing and he shivered a little. She knew he hated that, it was like a pressure point to him.

“It was,”, Hanna said, then held her hand out towards Dillon, “Dance?”, she asked, blushing, but smile with confidence at him in front of all his friends.

Dillon chuckled and took her hand, “Lead the way, little lady.”.

Ryan brought his hand up to Lillian that was on his side and took it, unwrapping it around his around and when he opened his mouth, she spoke, “Lets dance.”, she said and lid them out to the dance floor.

                “Lillian—“

“You didn’t mention it.”, she said, swaying her sides to the song.

He sighed, “I know, I was going to—but you were so excited and I didn’t want to make you upset or made.”.

“And now?”, she asked, raising an eyebrow. “How do you think I feel?”.

“She’s here with Dillon though.”, he said

“And if you told me that, I would have been totally fine with it, but you decided to hide it from me.”, she said.

He sighed he grabbed it, twirling her into his chest and her back was to him. He wrapped his arms around her, trapping her there, “Look, we’re here together.”, he whispered in her ear as they swayed sighed to sighed, not even caring if they were the only ones slowly dancing to the fast song. “Me and you.”.

“You and I.”, she corrected him.

“Right, you and I.”, he said. “Lets not get mad because she’s here, I’m with you.”, he said, blowing against her ear and she couldn’t help giggle.

“Don’t do that.”, she said, trying hard to hid her smile.

“Say your not mad.”, he said, blowing against her ear again and she giggled more, trying to push herself away so he wouldn’t do it again.

“Fine, I’m not mad.”, she said and he freed her, but kept one of her hands, bring her back against his chest, but her back wasn’t to him. She was facing him this time. She wrapped her arms around his, ready to kiss him until something cleared their throat.

They turned their heads and saw Mrs. Cooper with her hands on her waist, “No PDA, you two.”, she said, making them chuckle.

“Yes, ma’am.”, Ryan said and she walked away. “She really scares me.”,

“Mrs Cooper?”, she asked, fake gasping. “Never, look behind the razor sharp nails, the glaring look and cigarette yellow teeth, she’s actually a pretty nice person.”, she said sarcastically. “Lady could have been an ex nun from the seventies with the way she holds a ruler.”.

“Could trim those long nose hairs also.”, he said, making them both chuckle.

Soon a slow dance came on and Lillian put her head on Ryan’s shoulder as they swayed side to side. She smiled, happy that tonight wasn’t going as bad she thought. She didn’t want anything to ruin tonight.
