Chapter Twenty-Five.

After changing into another gown and being prepped up for the surgery, Lillian was told to get on another bed so they could do take her to the room where the surgery will be. She had to admit, she was so nervous. She never been cut open and had surgery before and today, soon, she was going to meet her son. Ryan also looked nervous as he changed into one of those blue gowns and put those caps on and walked next to her side, holding her hand.

They went into a pretty big room and they put an IV in her arm, put a catheter in her, and gave her regional anesthesia cause she wanted to be awake to see Zane after they get him out. Lillian tried to control her nerves as they set things up like putting the curtain over her so she would see any of the surgery part and while they were setting up, a part of her body began to feel numb and she didn't feel much pain anymore. She closed her eyes and took deep breaths.

Ryan was next to her, holding her hand. She looked him and he gave her a smile, but she could see he was nervous. "Ready?", she asked him.

He hesitated, but nodded, "Yeah, I am. Everything going to be just fine.".

"I hope.", she said.

A moment later, Doctor Huston spoke, "Okay, ready Lillian? You wont feel no type of pain or anything, just a bit of pressure and some pulling and tugging. It's also important not to tense up or anything but to relax, this should only take about five minutes.".

Lillian bit her bottom lips, "Yeah, I'm fine.".

She gave Ryan a quick squeezed before letting her body relax. They turned off the lights and only light in the room from the lamp above her stomach. Like Doctor Huston said, she didn't feel any pain, but the tugging and pulling was weird. She dealt with it though and let body relax as they did their work. She turned her head to Ryan and he brushed her hair back.

Lillian felt some pressure and forced herself to stay calm.

"Okay, he's coming!", Doctor Huston said and Lillian couldn't help but smile excitedly. "Got the cord from around his neck.".

A moment later, she heard the sound of crying and Ryan and Lillian both looked at each other, smiling as her eyes stung up.

"Hold on one second.", Doctor Huston said and Lillian heard the sound of clamping of scissors. Lillian's eyes tears up and a second later, she saw her baby as a nurse held him next to her. Lillian cried out in laughter and she reached her free hand up, touching his face as he cried and it made her cry. Zane grabbed one of her fingers and his crying slowed down a little, only making her cry more.

"He's so perfect.", she said as Ryan leaned over her a little to look at Zane and she noticed his eyes were also wet.

"He is.", Ryan said and he kissed her. "Your so brave Lil.".

They took Zane away to go clean him off and Ryan cut off the umbilical cord that was left.

"Six pounds, three ounces.", the nurse said. "Well, if he did make it to his due date, he would have been one hard baby to push out.".

Ryan came back over with Zane in his arms who was now wrapped up in a blanket and he placed him right next to Lillian so she looked at him without all the slim and blood as the doctor began stitching her back up. Lillian brought her hand back up and Zane quickly grabbed her fingers as he cried.

She couldn't help but cry more. When they say having a child is a miracle, they're right. It was like instance love between them to and she couldn't believe she thought about giving him up. If she did go with that plan, she isn't sure she could anymore. It would have just broken her heart.

One nurse came up to them, "What are you going to name him?".

"Zane Gabriel Monroe-Miller.", she said smiling, not looking away from her son.

"What a nice name.", she said. "I'm going to take him to get feed while you get stitched back up and later we can teach you how to breastfeed if you plan that.".

"I do.", she said. She didn't want to give Zane away so quickly cause she wanted just stare at him for hours, but it felt to soon the nurse took him away from them cause they did need to feed him and check up to see if there is anything else wrong with him.

Another nursed gave her something to help her sleep since the stitching up will take a while and Lillian fell asleep soon after, thinking of Zane.

Lillian started coming back to it when she opened her eyes so here people talk. She moaned and opened her eyes, feeling thirsty. She looked around to see her mom, dad Cassandra, Brad, Ashely, Ryan's mom, and his dad. Way to many people in the room but she felt fine with having the people she cared about.

She saw Ryan sitting the rocking chair next to the bed she was in and she couldn't help but hold her arms out towards him since Zane was in them. He smiled and helped her on how she should hold him. She looked down at her son and he was sleeping. She smiled and ran her hand down his soft face.

She looked up at Ryan, "How is he?", she asked.

"He's fine.", he said. "Healthy and perfect for coming early. Just gotta spend more time feeding him the next few days to put on some weight on but other then that, he's fine.".

He sat down the bed next to her and it was like she couldn't take her eyes off him.

"I'm so proud of you, sweet heart.", her mom said and her dad nodded. "He's so precious.", she added, looking down at her grandson.

"I know.", she said. "Who do you think he looks like more?'.

Cassandra chuckled, "He looks way to much like a little alien to tell what he looks like right now.", she said and Lillian glared at her. "What? He's an adorable cute alien.".

Lillian had to agree and smiled as she looked down at her baby. She can't believe her and Ryan made him. She can't believe she had him and wanted him so ever more. She was afraid of how she would feel after having him, but all she wanted to do now was go home and take care of him and loved him to death.

She twirled a finger around his mess of brown hair and he made little sounds in his sleepy which she thought of was so cute and adorable. And not only was a kicker in her belly, he liked to kick and punch in his sleep.

"Zane Gabriel Monroe-Miller, born July 25th at four thirty three pm.", Ryan said down to Zane when he put his finger in Zane's little hand. "Wow, big athlete were gonna to have here. Soccer and football, which one?".

Lillian chuckled, "Oh, taking after Uncle Brad are we?'.

Brad chuckled, "Maybe our little man well take after Auntie Lillian.", he said. "Which I'm sure cause I'm also pretty smart, I'm the whole package.", he said, throwing his arm around Ashley shoulder and she 'pssh' at him.

Lillian ignored her brother and she brighten up when she saw Zane wake up, his baby blue eyes looking up to hers. She wonders what they'll change to in a few weeks. Will he have Ryan's grey ones or her hazels one?

"Hi baby boy.", she said down to him. "I'm your mommy.".

All he did was make little bubbles with his spit and stare up at her. She smiled and rocked back and forth as her mom left to go get a nurse so she could teacher her how to breastfeed.

"Well hey, Lillian.", Ryan dad said. "I have to get back to work since it's third shift.".

"Oh.", Lillian said. "Well, did you get to hold him?", she asked.

He smiled, "Yeah, I did. Very handsome boy--though your sister right, kind of looks like an alien right now but he'll get really cute soon. I'll be back tomorrow to see him.".

"Okay.", she said.

"Actually, we all have to go.", her dad said and she frowned. "It is nine at night, sweet heart. Visiting hours are over, we're lucky enough we could be here right now right when you woke up.", he said. "We'll all be back tomorrow though and spend lots of time together.".

"Okay.", she said and using one arm to hold Zane and the other to hug everyone goodbye, she waited for her mom to come back as Ryan sat back in the rocking chair.

She smiled at him, "Can you still believe we made him?", she asked. "I don't think I could ever give him up to someone else now. It's unimaginable.".

He smiled and leaned over towards her, "I know, I wouldn't want to either. I'm glad we decided to keep him, Lil. I wouldn't want to give up my family.".

"I know right.", she said and she kissed him first. "I don't ever want to let go of him now.".

A few moment passed before her mom came back with a nurse and her mom hugged her tight and kissed Zane goodbye, joining her dad downstairs to go home.

"Okay, most new moms think breastfeeding is easy.", the nurse said.

Lillian looked up at her confused, "Isn't it?".

She chuckled, "No, it isn't. You have to see what position is right for him and to get him to latch on, which is a battle. But it's like an instincts for baby to start sucking, so that should be good. The main problem is latching.".

"Oh.", she said. "Well, okay.", she said, handing Zane to Ryan and unbutton her gown. She was kind of shy at having the nurse see her breast, but she decided to get over it and the nurse helped her with getting Zane to latch onto her boob. After a moment of finding a position, he seem to stay kind of still in a football cradle.

The nursed showed her how to get her nipples into Zane's mouth and she moved him towards her chest so his mouth wouldn't slip away. But when she thought she could do it, he moved his head. Five minutes of trying, Lillian groaned, "Why isn't he latching on?", she asked. "Is he not hungry or something?".

"Of course he's hungry, it's just take time and patient. Some babies are just stubborn.", she said. "It's going to many times before he could just latch on with no problem.".

Two more minutes passed and he finally latched on and started sucking. She breathed in relief that he finally decided to stay still and start sucking. It felt kind of weird and hurt breastfeeding and she knew this was something that was also going to take time to get use to.

She slowly rocked back and forth as Zane sucked and he closed his eyes as he feed. The nurse left while she was feeding him and Ryan sat down next to her. "Now what does that feel like?", he asked, chuckling.

She shrugged, "Just as it sound, but it's a little painful. It feels like a pinch, but I think after days of contraction, I can handle it. And anyways, after a week or two, I should get use to it.".

Ryan put an arm around her shoulder and leaned into her. She laid her head on his shoulder and couldn't take her eyes off her son.

"I love you, Lil.", he said. "This is going to be one story to tell him when he's old enough.".

She chuckled and ran her knuckle against his cheek, "It sure well.", she said. "Damn sure interesting one.".
