Chapter Seven: Home Sweet Home...
Chapter 7
*JOHNATHAN*
*FOUR AND A HALF YEARS LATER*
I stood up and stretched my legs once we finally landed back in Chicago. Quinn chuckled at me as she began to gather our luggage together. "What're you laughing about?" I asked as I poked her side causing her to cringe away from me and giggle.
"Just how cute you are." She teased and I rolled my eyes at her and kissed her cheek and then took the bags from her. "Whoa." She sighed as she placed her hand over her stomach and she closed her eyes.
"What's wrong sweetie?" I asked worriedly and she shook her head and took in a deep breath.
"Um..." She trailed off and slowly opened her eyes and looked at me. "I'm alright. I don't know what happened, I just suddenly felt nauseous." She admitted and I kissed her head again softly and rubbed her back soothingly.
"I'm sorry Quinn, here let's get home so you can rest." I said as I pulled the luggage off the plane and held her hand.
We pulled up to my house and it looked exactly the same when I left almost five years ago. "Nothing's changed." Quinn teased as she read my mind and I smiled over at her and squeezed her hand lightly.
"I know, I texted my Mom already and told everyone to tone down the welcoming committee a little so you don't get too excited and start throwing up everywhere." I teased which caused her to laugh and punch my arm playfully and I laughed along with her.
"Shut up Johnathan Patrick Banks or else I'll kick your ass!" She threatened and I chuckled as I rolled my eyes at her.
"Oh please baby girl, you're just talk." She glared at me as I exited the car and I grinned back like an idiot.
"I'm gonna get you for that Banks." She hissed and I bit my lip from laughing, knowing that if I said something it would only cause me more trouble as I walked up to the front door.
"Come here baby, let's go inside." I said as she walked up to me and I held out my hand to her and she grasped it firmly.
"I can't believe we're officially done with college and we finally get to live here again." She sighed happily and I squeezed her hand again as I opened the front door.
"Same here babe."
"Johnathan!" I heard my little sisters Hannah and Gracie exclaim once I opened the door all the way.
"Hi my beautiful girls!" I yelled as I knelt down and spread open my arms as they ran into them. Gracie was now eight almost nine and Hannah was four almost five, they have grown so much over the past couple of years and it surprised me how much they've grown. "Jeez girls, stop growing! You two are getting huge!" I teased as I pulled away to look at them and they giggled.
"You're staying for good right John?" Gracie asked eagerly and I nodded my head as I tapped her nose lightly with my index finger and smiled widely at her.
"You betcha sweetie! Quinn and I will be living right down the block so you guys can come over whenever you want." I said and they grinned at me as they nodded their heads in agreement.
"'My baby's home!" My Mom teased once I saw her standing in the living room with all our friends and family.
"I'm not a baby Mom," I said as she embraced me in a tight hug. "I am almost twenty-three years old, you know?" I teased and she glared at me as she rubbed my shoulder.
"You'll always be my baby and I know how old you are! I did have you when I was fifteen!" She reminded and I rolled my eyes.
"I know my Mom and you don't look a day over sixteen." I said as I leaned down and kissed her cheek.
"Oh please! I'm almost thirty-eight years old!" I smiled and squeezed her gently.
"Hey big brother!" Jace exclaimed as he jogged up to me and my Mother squealed in delight as she held Quinn. Jace is now seventeen and is almost as tall as I am, which is six feet and I can't believe I've missed so much of my siblings lives in just four years.
*QUINN*
I knew Johnathan like the back of my hand and I knew he was sad about not seeing his siblings grow up over the years. "You look stunning Quinn!" Hailey exclaimed and I giggled as I felt my cheeks start to burn slightly.
"Awe thank you Hailey! You look absolutely gorgeous!" I said as she held me tightly.
"Oh stop it you! Oh," She turned to look at Johnathan. "And your Father will be home any minute alright?"
"Alright Mom." He said and then looked at me and a smile appeared on his face which caused me to blush and look away nervously. I may be twenty-one, but he still caused me to feel like the sixteen year old girl I was when I first met him all those years ago.
We all sat in the living room waiting for Johnathan's Dad to arrive so we could start dinner and I noticed Johnathan was acting nervous. "Hey," I said squeezing his hand to get his attention and he turned to me. "Are you okay?" I asked and he grinned at me and kissed my cheek.
"I'm perfect honey." He said and I giggled as he made a silly face.
"I'm home!" Chris shouted as he entered the house and practically ran into the room.
"Hey Dad!" Johnathan exclaimed as he stood up and they hugged each other.
"Oh I'm so glad you two are finally home for good!" Chris sighed as they released each other and then he walked over to me. "Why Quinn, you're glowing!" He exclaimed and I giggled as my cheeks flushed.
"Oh thank you." I said as we hugged each other briefly.
"Well look at the time." Chris said and looked over at his watch then at Johnathan. I looked at them confused and Johnathan nodded his head.
"Can I have everyone's attention?" He asked and everyone turned to look at him. "Before the rest of our family's arrive here I'd like to ask Quinn something before it gets too chaotic here." He said and looked at me and I stared back completely lost.
"What is it Johnathan?" I asked softly, I was starting to become nervous.
"Well," He said as he walked up to me and started to get down on one knee. "I know we're still fairly young, but we've finished college we have good jobs here, we just bought a beautiful house, and the last thing that I need to do to complete my perfect life is to have the most perfect, insanely beautiful, smart, funny woman to be my wife." He said and his Mom sniffled as I looked over at her and saw a huge grin on her face with tears in her eyes and I felt a tear escape my eye as I looked back down at him. "I love you Quinn Catherine O'Bryan and I want you to be mine forever, you are beautiful and I am absolutely crazy about you. I'm never going to hurt you and I will always treat you with respect." He said sternly and I grinned down at him as tears continued to spill out of my eyes. "So will you do me the honor," He slowly pulled out a ring box and opened it revealing a beautiful silver ring with diamonds all along it and I gasped as I looked at him surprised. "And marry me?" He asked softly as he grabbed my hand. I giggled softly and took in a ragged breath.
"Of course I'll marry you baby." I whispered and he grinned at me as the room erupted in cheers. He jumped up and pulled me into his arms as he kissed me causing me to lose my breath and smile.
"I love you." He whispered as he held me off the ground and rocked side to side.
"I love you." I whispered as I rubbed the back of his neck. He kissed me again and then set me slowly on the ground. He grabbed my hand and placed the ring on my third finger on my left hand and I stared down at it in disbelief.
Later that night we announced our engagement to our family and they were all so happy for us. "I knew you two were bound to tie the knot sooner or later." My Mom teased as she held my hand and gawked at my ring.
"I didn't know." I admitted and she chuckled as she squeezed my hand gently.
"Look at you, we've been through a lot pumpkin and look how great everything has gotten after we moved here." She said softly and I smiled a bit as I looked down at the ground. "Sweetie, don't let him ruin today. You're strong and everything is perfect don't you think?" She asked and I nodded my head.
"You're right Mom, it is perfect." I sighed as I looked over at Johnathan who was already staring at me while he talked to his family. He grinned once he saw me stare back and I couldn't help but grin too then I looked back at my Mom. "And I wouldn't change it for the world." I whispered and she smiled at me as she embraced me in a hug.
*UNKNOWN PERSON*
I picked up the newspaper and saw Quinn and a boy on the front page and I read the name of the article: Son of Famous Designer and Owner of A Multimillion Dollar Car Repair Shop Company is Getting Married in Chicago. I gritted my teeth together and I felt rage build up inside me.
They leave me and now my daughter is marrying into a rich family, my wife will be rich because of her, and I get to live here in a god damn trailer. I threw the newspaper on the ground and started to grab my keys.
Those two bitches get to have happy lives while I sit back and rot, they don't deserve it. They deserve to live in this shit hole with me. If it wasn't for me that little slut who I call my daughter wouldn't be alive and she's gonna get it worse. They're dead and I know exactly where to find them.
