Chapter 26 - More Valuable
The morning alarm rang through her ears early. Myeong Jo found herself laying in front of her door. She didn't even realize she fell asleep after crying her heart out the second she entered her house. She found her back aching and her head slightly heavy; not to mention her eyes dry.
She stood up and stood in front of the mirror. When she tried to recall what happened last night, her head hurt. Then she remembered.
Jimin was back. He was really here. No, he wasn't. It was her imagination. She yearned for him that time and ended up making a stranger Jimin.
Not able to understand the whole situation, she decided after a long thinking that even if he's back, she should avoid him. If Jimin is here to take her with him, then she won't let him do that. He can't be forgiven that easily. He tried to kill her. Also he never ever loved her. Basically going back to him will be wrong. He was never hers and he will never be. The real wife loved him more than her so she's the only one who deserves him. So she calmed her heart down and breathed.
Her phone rang suddenly so she went to pick it up. It was Ho Seok.
"Good morning, Mr. Jung." her voice was low.
"Yah, you know you have to come to office today. We gotta discuss about your book cover." he said.
"Nae, I'll be there." she hung up.
Let's prepare ourselves for our daily routine.
Myeong Jo was working inside her office after deciding the theory of the new book cover. Then she began writting her story on her computer.
There was a knock on her door; revealing her secretary.
"Ma'am, you have a guest."
She furrowed her eyebrows a little, "Guest?"
"He said you know him." she said.
Myeong Jo then said, "Where is he?"
"In the lobby."
Myeong Jo made her way to the lobby. She wondered who could've came to see her. And she knows him? Must be a fan or someone.
She took the elevator and walked towards the lobby where mostly guests wait on the couches. She saw a man standing with his back.
"Excuse me, you wanted to see me?" she asked trying to sound firm.
He turned her back and smiled at her.
It was Park Jimin.
Her serious face dropped into a surprised face. Hard to believe that last night was just a dream but he proved it wrong. He was really here in this world. She blinked her eyes rapidly; her new behavior if she's nervous or uncomfortable. Jimin smiled cheesily somehow.
"You surprise me in many ways. I spent the whole last night reading your book. And I must say you didn't miss a single details about us." Jimin stated looking through her book self and awards that she recieved in her office.
You know the feeling when you write a love story about you and your imaginary boyfriend; and that boyfriend reads your story? It totally feels embarrassing!
She hid her head in front of her monitor and kept typing fast as if she didn't care. But her face was red and her insides were acting weird because HE had read their story! She wrote everything including kisses and stuffs. It really felt embarrassing. Now she regrets why she didn't change the male lead's name.
"But you know? I didn't like the cover at all. This girl looks nothing like you. You are far more prettier than her." he looked at her while holding her book. She looked at him too with her glasses.
"And this man! It looks nothing like me. When did I have black hair? He looks more like Jungkook." He turned his gaze back at the book cover.
Myeong Jo suddenly recalled her little brother-in-law. Her naughty brat. She really forgot him. She smiled a little remembering him. His cute smiles and his childish beautiful acts.
She hesitated first. She didn't want to talk with Jimin. She wanted to avoid him for his own good. But the mention of Jungkook just couldn't make her less curious. So she just decided to ask this little question. It won't count right?
"Jungkook.........odisso? How's he? And Ji Eun? Are they doing well?"
Jimin looked at Myeong Jo and let out a chuckle.
"Jungkook? He's back in the other universe. I made him the King." he lowered his head; keeping his smile.
Myeong Jo's eyes widened and her mouth opened unknowingly out of surprise. She gasped slightly and asked, "Then what about you?"
"I am here. I left that universe forever. I'm sure Jungkook will handle the kingdom well. He's a great ruler....." he avoided her question cleverly.
Myeong Jo stood up from her chair and kept her eyes locked with his face.
"You left that universe? You left behind your Kingdom? You were their King. Their loyal wise King. How can you leave something so valuable and important? A king should never leave his people behind." she uttered without any breaths.
Jimin smiled faintly and sat over a sofa that was as long as his whole body. It was comfy.
He didn't answer her question still.
She waited for an answer, looking at him.
"Something was more valuable and important than my Kingdom. Otherwise I wouldn't leave." he mumbled keeping his head low.
She found his answer more confusing as she thought what could be more important than his Kingdom. Jimin was a strong, wise, patriotic, faithful, great king who loved his country and his subject with his heart. Then to a noble king like him, what could be so dignified for him to leave like that? Surely it's not her. Not even in anyone's dreams will Jimin come here for her. Why would he? Is he crazy do that?
"And what would that be?" her voice sterned as she asked.
Jimin looked at her, "It was You."
Okay, she definitely didn't expect that. She stared at him as she was actually trying to put the pieces together in her mind. Jimin isn't that type of person who would leave his Kingdom or his family (Jungkook & Ji Eun) for a stranger like her. She was just a girl that took the place of his wife for some months. He wouldn't fall for her, would he? He hated her. She still remembers when he tried to choke her like a ruthless monster. She had goosebumps recalling that.
Knowing the conversation was gonna go to something else, she quickly took her bag and closed her computer. She walked out of the office.
"Hey, where you going?" Jimin also followed her.
She was walking down the street. Preparations for Christmas were already going on. Though it was only mid November. The shops were lighting and were full of different new items. She admired them and kept walking. Jimin was quietly following her from behind. It wasn't unknown to Myeong Jo.
"OMO! Look Author Min!" the street began shouting her name and gathering in front of her. That's when she realized she forgot to wear a mask. Aish! Being an Author is as same as being an idol. The fans especially the young students were asking for her autographs and selfies. She was trapped among the crowd.
"Author Unnie, Sarang Heo!!"
"I finished your book 23 times already."
"Can I get a picture, Miss!"
Common words.
Suddenly Jimin walked inside the crowd and stood beside Myeong Jo. He said to them, "Yah everyone, give your Author some privacy and some time alone, will you? She looks pretty tired."
All eyes were on him including Myeong Jo.
"Who are you tell that?"
"Yes, Mister! You aren't her bodyguard!"
The youngers fought back.
Jimin chuckled, "Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is......"
Before he could say Park Jimin, Myeong Jo put her hand over his mouth stopping him. Everyone furrowed their eyebrows.
"He's nobody! Just my......" this time Jimin cut her off.
"Would be Husband." his lips formed a smirk.
All her fans exclaimed in surprise. Some in happiness and excitement. Myeong Jo was the only one who was flustered, annoyed and shocked by his stupid answer. She shot him a death glare before looking at her fans.
"He is joking. He is not my Would be Husband. He's just my......."
"Fiancee." before she could explain, Jimin again cut her off and again smirked.
The fans again exclaimed and this time, most of them awweed more. She pushed him away slightly out of annoyance.
"Unnie, Chukkaheyo!"
"Thank you for an amazing book. Also good luck to your marriage."
"We hope to read your new book. And your fiancee is very handsome."
They chattered non stop like always. Myeong Jo seemed pissed off right now by Jimin's actions who was just laughing silently beside her.
When they reached a park, Myeong Jo looked back at him and with all her anger and energy, she yelled at him, "Why the hell did you do that, Park Jimin?!"
He closed his ears playfully as if her words were too high.
"Oh that? What, I just stated the fact." he shrugged off his shoulders.
She gritted her teeth, "I Am Not Marrying You."
"Then I think I'm gonna have to win your heart for you to say yes." he smiled cheesily.
Myeong Jo frowned and began walking again. This time a bit fast. But all knows Jimin won't stop following her.
"But why did you stop me from saying my name?" he walked beside her.
She glanced a little at him, "There are many fans of you, Park Jimin."
He exclaimed in happiness and covered his mouth with his hands, "Jinjja? Omo! I'm so popular. What, they think me as their ideal boyfriend or something?"
Myeong Jo didn't reply. Of course, Park Jimin was a popular character among young high school girls. Their ideal type. She avoided his question as it was so obvious.
"Imagine, if I say I'm Park Jimin, the character from the book, they are just gonna fangirl over me." he laughed as he found it too interesting.
"Where are you going now?"
"Your home? I thought you had work in your office."
"Are you avoiding me?"
"Yah, stop doing that."
Jimin's nonstop chatterings won't stop at all since she was ignoring him. Finally she reached her apartment. At least, she'll be able to ignore him now.
"Whoa! You're so rich. But not as me. I had more than 2 apartments like this one." he glanced up to see the height of the building.
Myeong Jo opened the door with her keys and entered without any second and closed the door on his face.
Ignoring him won't be an easy task.
