6. Use Wattpad to your advantage!

So, I feel I kind of touched on this in my note earlier, but I'm going to emphasise it again because I think it's important. 

Wattpad books aren't the same as traditional books. Wattpad sits somewhere between publishing, entertainment (tv, film, media), and social apps. A format and style that would work for a traditionally published book may not work as well on Wattpad. Obviously it completely depends on your motive for writing on Wattpad – but if you're trying to get a lot of reads I think it's important to bare this in mind.

How is Wattpad different? 

> On Wattpad your readers are reading on their phones- so shorter chapters & shorter paragraphs may work better!

> Your readers can comment on your story - so talk to them! Leave them messages! Ask them questions! 

> You can insert multimedia into your stories – so use that to your advantage! Enhance the reading experience!

> You're writing serially – so use cliffhangers, insert more plot twists, make your story more hooky!

> You know that Wattpad counts each chapter hit as a read - so instead of writing one long chapter, why not write 2 shorter ones (and get twice the read count)!

> You can see what's trending on Wattpad - so use this knowledge to your advantage! Or - if you really want reads - challenge yourself to write something on trend as a side project for fun!
