Chapter 9 Da-Vinci's Birthday Part: 1
Chaos presumes as normal in the Dalmatian residents, Dolly was outside skating around on her board now that her leg had completely healed, thanks to help of Charlie. Dylan was inside trying his best to clean the house, to no avail, while Charlie was playing with the Dimitris Trio.
"Alright you three here it goes." Charlie said as he threw a ball over there heads, as it bounced the boys were fighting one another to get to it, however it bounced into the basement as the Dimitris Trio skidded to a halt, toppled over one another, "What happened."
"The ball went down into the basement."
"But we can't go down there." D1 and D2 said which Charlie raised his eyebrow.
"Why?" Charlie asked to which the Dimitris looked at each other in fear, "Okay look I'll go down and get the ball." He said as the Dimitris cheered.
As Charlie headed down the stairs, he was surprised to see a whole basement, full of pictures, painted pictures mind you, Charlie stared in amazement at the many paintings that were everywhere, from the walls, to some hanging off the ceiling, all different shapes and sizes, all different from one another and over in a corner is a place where it seems someone lives there was a small bean bag a carpet a drinking bowl (which is surprising since they mostly drank out of the toilet) but what's struck his curiosity was a painting that was covered with cloth.
"Woah." He said.
"Charlie, the Ball!" D1 yelled down which he got if his trance and found the ball throwing it back up to them, "Thanks!" D1 yelled as he and the other took off after the ball, however Charlie stayed and decided to look around, his eyes moved swiftly over every painting, they were very beautiful but the painting that was covered with the cloth, his curiosity got the best of him as he gently removed the cloth to reveal a painting... of himself, but not just any painting of himself, a painting of him in his military uniform.
"Woah." He stated as he studied the entire painting, the shading, the lighting, the deepness in texture, it was all perfect, "Just wow." He said again.
"It's the hardestone I've done." A voice said behind him which caused him to jump, "S-sorry didn't mean to scare you." Da-Vinci said as she moved in closer, which Charlie sighed in relief.
"Da-Vinci it's just you, did you... did you paint this?" He asked to which Da-Vinci shyly nodded, "It's, beautiful." He said.
"Well it's not fully finished." She sighed trying to hide her blush, "It took almost two months to get it to where it is." She explains.
"It's beautiful you really try to get my emotion in the picture the image of a very strange but very heroic person coming In and standing majestically in the room." Charlie said which the Dalmatian mouth just dropped, and her eyes widened.
"Y-you understood my Vision!" She stated which he looked at her.
"Well I used to be a artist myself I used to love to paint forests and landscapes, I can thank Bob Ross for that." He smiled at her but she was too busy staring again, "I guess that kinda explains why you haven't been around much." Charlie said to which Da-Vinci nodded her head and sighed, "Whats wrong?"
"Oh it's nothing." She smiled but Charlie can see right through it, so he sat down next to her.
"Tell me what's wrong." He said in a very calm voice.
"Sigh...Tomorrows my birthday..." she said which made Charlie eyes go wide.
"I didn't know it was your birthday tomorrow."
"I dont think anyone remembered, I'm always the quiet one the one that disappears into the world and everyone seems to forget the only time I was needed for when, the paintings were ripped, or that one time when Dolly needed to impress Hansel, or when we busted out Diesel." She explained.
"Diesel went to the pound?!" He asked only to get the "long story" look, which he kept his mouth shut.
"I'm not very social you know that's why alot of my birthdays no one comes sigh but what's worse is thats its my 18th birthday I finally get to be an adult. But no one would care." Da-Vinci said with tears in her eyes.
"Hey wait a minute I care about you." Charlie said as he hugged Da-Vinci who smiled at his gesture.
"T-thats very kind Charlie but..."
"Hey I have an idea, why don't you and I have a birthday party down here?" He suggested which made her eyes widen completely.
"Y-you mean it?!"
"Yes, I just love birthdays especially when my..." He stop himself, "When... it was my parents birthday I would love to go all out." This made Da-Vinci giggle.
"You really love to party huh." Shs asked.
"Hey a birthday is a time to reflect on what you have accomplished, and what you have not, it's the one day where it's all about you DV." He smiled to which Da-Vinci blushed being called DV.
"T-that would be... p-pawsome." She stuttered which made Charlie giggle.
"I'll see what I can do okay... and you know what..."
"What?"
"How about tomorrow, since it your birthday, why don't we both have fun with painting." He suggested which made her eyes widen in excitement.
"R-really?!"
"Well I haven't painted in awhile since I served in the army, I would love a teacher." Da-Vinci ran up and hugged Charlie which she realized what she's doing and jumped back.
"I-I'm sorry... I don't know what came over me!" She apologized but Charlie hugged her.
"It's alright DV I love hugs, always have always will." He said to which Da-Vinci blushed, "Now I'm heading back upstairs, to see of Dylan needs any help." He said.
"A-alright." She said as Charlie went upstairs once he was out of site she geeked out squealing like a schoolgirl.
Meanwhile Outside In Dylans Treehouse
Dylan was reading a Star Wars comic book that Charlie let him borrow, as he was reading it he was completely fascinated by the lore behind the franchise, as would any die hard Star Wars fan (myself included)
"Hey Dylan." Charlie greeted him as he climbed up.
"Oh hey Charlie... hey thanks for lending this comic to me, I never thought I would fascinated by Star Wars." He smiled.
"Your welcome little bro, just make sure you don't destroy it, I haven't read that one yet." Charlie smiled but sighed which caught Dylans attention.
"Something wrong?" He asked.
"Well it's just... I ran into Da-Vinci."
"Oh you finally met Da-Vinci do did it go?" He asked.
"Great I think... but that's not what's important, what's important is that, it's Da-Vinci birthday." Charlie explained to which Dylans eyes widen.
"Wait are you serious?!" He asked as Charlie nodded in response, "OH MY DOG, OH MY DOG I completely Forgot!!!!!" He said as he was pacing back and forth with his ears in his hands, "Theres so much to do, so much TO PUT UP AHHH!"
"Dylan!!" Charlie grabbed ahold of him and started to calm him down, "Dylan chill we can get the whole family to chip in." This calmed Dylan down a bit, "Where's Dolly?"
"You called?!" She jumped up smiling.
"Dolly perfect timing we need to call a family meeting." Dylan said which confused her.
"What you mean, if it's about that clogged toilet I had nothing nothing do with it!" She glared.
"No it's about Da-Vinci, it's her birthday." Charlie explained which Dolly eyes widen.
"No kidding?" She asked.
"I'm not kidding we need a family meeting." Dylan chimed in.
"Well your in luck mom and dad are off today." Dolly explained as Charlie nodded his head.
"Alright Dylan everyone, I'll keep her distracted until then." Charlie said as he ran into the house
A Little Bit Later
"Well Da-Vinci gonna be busy for awhile." Charlie said with a smile.
"What you told her?" Dolly asked.
"I told her to paint something for me, anything that came to her mind I wanted her to paint, so she might be there for a while." He explained as he sat down woth the family.
"Alright so what's this meeting all about?" Delilah started.
"It's about Da-Vinci, tomorrow's her birthday."
"Oh yes that's right, how could we forget."
"I mean I don't blame you two, 101 birthdays are alot to remember." Charlie chimed in.
"Yes that's true, but I feel so horrible knowing we forgot our little artist birthday." Doug said with sadness.
"Luckily for you all, I happen to be involved with and love to have parties, especially when there surprise party." Charlie smiled.
"So whats the plan?" Dolly asked.
"First, we need to get Da-Vinci out of the house, I already told her that I will paint with her tomorrow, but I think I can stretch that." Charlie explains.
"Excellent that gives us plenty of time, to prepare everything." Delilah beamed.
"Well I call working on the cake!" Dolly shouted, which everyone shushed her.
"Dolly you can't be screaming stuff, she might hear you." Charlie said.
"Oh sorry." She smiled.
"Alright, so Dollys working on the cake, DJ: got the beats?"
"Can do bro." He said.
"We can work on the decorations."
"We totally are the best."
"At making decorations." Triple D chimed in.
"Alright..." Charlie wrote in a notebook.
"I'll handle the food." Delilah chimed in.
"On second thought, Charlie can we invite people over?" Dolly asked.
"Well of course Dolly."
"Okay scratch what I said before I'll be getting the invites then." She sighed lovenly.
"Alright alright, Doug: do you have anything to bring to the table?"
"Well I can see if I can get that little swimming pool." He suggested.
"Swimming pool?!"
"Swimming pool?!" The pups all started to ask in excitement.
"Doug were you planning on getting the kids a pool." Charlie smirked to which Doug smiled proudly.
"Yes I was, and what a perfect time for it." The pups all cheered.
"Alright everyone let's settle down, now let me see, we have the food, the invites, the fun, the birthday girl taken care of, Dylan: since Dolly is getting the invites you think you and Dawkins can work on the cake?" Charlie asked.
"Done and done." Dylan smiled.
"Alright that just leaves presents."
"What should we get her?!"
"Yeah what should we!"
"Hmmm she loves to paint, how about when I'm away, all of you paint a giant picture for her, and have it signed by all of you." He suggested which they cheered in agreement.
"What about you Charlie what you getting her?" Dolly asked with a toothy grin.
"I uh... I don't know but I'll figure it out when the time comes." He said as he looked at the time, "Well I guess I'll go and see how she's doing, you guys talk amongst yourselves." He said as he headed out of the dinning room and towards the basement where he sees Da-Vinci hard at work, "My goodness Da-Vinci you sure are a mess." He said which made her jump.
"Charlie I didn't hear you come in." She said with a large blush on her face.
"Sorry didn't mean to scare you..." He looked up to see what she was doing, it wasn't much, but it was a painting that had hard work and quick thinking put onto the canvas, "Wow it's very beautiful." He said which Da-Vinci blushed.
"O-oh y-y-you think?" She stuttered.
"Yes it is, I mean I know it's not much but it's the thought that counts right?" He smiled.
"Y-yeah... so I heard alot of commotion going on upstairs, did something happening?" She asked.
"Nah not really it wasn't much, just listening to Dylan and Dawkins arguing over something." He lied hiding about the meeting, but Da-Vinci giggled.
"Those two always bicker and argue almost about everything." She smiled at Charlie who sat down next to her.
"Yeah it can be real annoying, but hey there the ones who made life here easier for all of you." He stated to which Da-Vinci got closer to him.
"Yeah." She said as she smiled dreamily at him.
"Um... Da-Vinci?" He asked to no reponse, "Yooohooo DV?!" He snapped his finger which caused her to snap out of her trance.
"Huh... wha?"
"You spaced out." He explained to which she blushed heavily.
"O-oh s-s-sorry." She turned her head away in embarrassment.
"Hey don't fret it's alright I thought it was adorable." He said which made Da-Vinci blush even more visible, "But hey listen I also came down here to tall that plans have been slightly altered." He stated.
"What do you mean." Da-Vinci asked worriedly.
"Well I thought for your birthday, how about you and me, we take a trip around London, and get... inspiration, what do you say?!" He asked as to which Da-Vinci eyes widen with joy.
"R-REALLY?!" She asked in excitement.
"Yeah just me and you." He smiled as Da-Vinci hugged him, "Aww Da-Vinci." He blushed to which Da-Vinci jumped back.
"I'm sorry I don't know what came over me!" She apologized but Charlie just laughed and scratched her ear.
"Its alright DV, well it's about that time again." He said as he looked at the clock she had.
"Time for bed."
"Yeah we had a very late dinner..." Charlie hugged Da-Vinci who blushed slightly, "Goodnight Da-Vinci." He said as he head up the stairs.
"Night Charlie." She smiled but as soon as he was out of sight she sighed dreamily, "He cares about me." She smiled as she went to her bean bag chair and started to drift off to sleep.
The Very Next Morning
Down in the basement Da-Vinci stretched and yawned as she heard the sound of footsteps coming.
"GOODMORING Birthday day girl!" Charlie smiled as Da-Vinci got up and stretched.
"Morning Charlie."
"Todays a big day for you DV, wanna know why?"
"It's my birthday!" She beamed with excitement.
"That's right!! And as planed its just gonna be me and you all day." He said as Da-Vinci jumped up with excitement.
"Oh I can't wait Charlie, this is gonna be the best Birthday ever!" She said as Charlie giggled at her excitement.
"First let's get you some breakfast what ya say." She nodded as she ran up the stairs, which surprised Charlie, "Well talk about a dinner bell." He said to himself as he ran after Da-Vinci. At the table the family were eating when Da-Vinci skidded to halt and started to eat as fast as she can.
"Woah woah slow down Da-Vinci, what's the rush." Dylan smiled as Da-Vinci gulped some food in her mouth.
"Sorry... its just Charlie is gonna spend time with me today and I don't want to be late." She explained as everyone giggled.
"Well can't keep the man waiting am I right?" Dolly said as she pushed Da-Vinci out to Charlie who was standing at the front waiting patiently for her.
"Oh uh okay." Da-Vinci smiled at Charlie who smiled back.
"Well hi Da-Vinci you ready?"
"I guess so, are you?"
"I'm ready as ever be, let's take off." He said as he unlocked the door with a key, and opened the door, "Ladies first." He smirked as Da-Vinci walked out smiling, "Remember..." He pointed to Dolly who nodded as he closed the door.
"So where are we gonna go first Charlie?!" Da-Vinci asked.
"Well, we can go where ever you wanna go Da-Vinci." He smiled to which her eyes widen.
"Anywhere?"
"Yes anywhere."
"Lets go to..." Da-Vinci thought but couldn't think of where to start, suddenly an idea popped into her head, "The Art Museum!!!" She excitedly said which made Charlie chuckled.
"Why did I have a feeling you say that? But let's head to the art Museum." Charlie announced which she almost jumped up and kissed him she was so excited, so she ran off ahead which Charlie followed.
As they were walking through the streets Charlie noticed how much happier Da-Vinci was.
"Never seen you this happy before." She stopped and looked at him.
"S-sorry i-its just i-i n-never had t-the c-chance to see it." She explains which he giggled.
"Its alright." He scratches her ear, "it's okay to be excited for something like this to be honest I'm excited myself because I get to spend time with you." He blushed as he said that which Da-Vinci blushed as well only harder.
"W-well I-Im glad." She smiles as they continue to walk to the museum.
An Hour Later
Charlie and Da-Vinci had finally made it to the Art Museum he didn't want to rush her for the day which is why it took so long, he wanted her to have the best day ever.
"Oh Charlie I'm so excited!!" She said excitedly, "I dreamed of seeing this place I hope its beautiful inside with all the different artworks."
"I hope so too well come one let's get inside and look around." He open the door for her to go in and followed suit."
Inside the Art Museum it was beautiful with all kinds of paintings, vases, metal work you name it, it was there and beautifully placed. Da-Vincis eye had a mind of there own as she looked at every painting every piece of art for what felt like for hours.
[Charlie's thoughts]
'Man she really loves art this could easier than I thought.'
Charlie watch as she moved from one painting to another with curious eyes, but one stops her and she looked at it longer than the rest, it was a picture of Big Ben looking over the city on a snowy day.
"Its, its beautiful." She said outloud with a tear in her eye, she never seen a painting so beautiful yet so simple.
"Da-Vinci what so you see in this picture." Charlie asked as he got down to her level.
"The beauty of the world, on how snow can change the scenery of a place and make it so beautiful." She says, "the idea of looking down from the towering building and see the world for what it is." She looked at him with confidence, Charlie was looking at it too.
"Its beautiful to see all that always thought that snow even though it's a dangerous weather, it's the most beautiful thing in the world it's so simple it's just Big Ben and the town in snow, but theres so emotion behind it." Charlie said which made Da-Vinci blushed no one could talk like that to her before the words he says are sweet and truthful and very kind.
Charlie noticed she was staring again but her eye lids were drooped a little more like shes lost in a trance.
"Da-Vinci?" He asked which got her out of the trance.
"H-huh w-what?" She stuttered and shook her head, which he chuckled.
"You were lost there DV." He giggled as Da-Vinci blushed in embarrassment.
"S-sorry Charlie."
"Hey it's alright its not your fault." He said with a smile, "So what else you want to look at?" He asked her which now she was deep in thought.
"Well I actually never had the chance to see Big Ben so I was uh thinking we could go and see it." Charlie smiled at her suggestion.
"Not a bad idea let's do that I haven't seen Big Ben either so this will be a new experience for both of us." They both blushed. Charlie looked at his watch and realized its noon, "well shoot its lunchtime." He chuckled but he didn't want to eat he was saving for the big party.
"You should eat then our family never eated a lunch."
"Nah I'll be fine beside I had a big breakfast." He chuckled but Da-Vinci didn't bought she knew he had cereal but played it off.
"Oh well alright." She said as they were walking together.
Back Home
"Dawkins did you do the right measurements?" Dylan asked as he put the batter into the oven.
"For the last time Dylan, yes I did." Dawkins answered.
"Alright alright, just double checking." He smiled.
"BOW WAKA WOW!!!" Dolly yelled her signature catch phrase, and landed next to Dylan, "Sup Bro finished my invitations in record time, how's the cake?" She asked in excitement.
"It has just been put into the oven Dolly we have to be patient." Dylan explained which Dolly rolled her eyes.
"Pfff patience smatience, just crank up the heat." She said as she went for the knob but Dylan smacked her paw.
"No!" Dylan warned.
"Oh come on Dylan the cake won't be done in time let's crank up the heat!" She said as she juked by Dylan and turned the know all the way up.
"DOLLY NO!!!" Dawkins yelled out but it was too late the cake started to rise, as Dolly smiled, only for it to explode in the oven.
"Ohhh." She said with disappointment.
"Dolly!" Dylan glared over to her who smiled innocently.
"What I was having fun with baking." She said in defense as both Dylan and Dawkins shook there heads in disgust.
"Dolly we had it under control now get out." Dylan said while pushing her out of the way.
"Oh come on Bro I was having fun and your gonna push me away?"
"If we want this done right then yes." Dylan said. Dolly look at him with sadness.
"Oh alright then." She answered sadly and walked out of the messy kitchen but didn't get far.
"Dolly wait." She stop and turn to Dylan hugging her, "I'm sorry sis, I didn't mean to say it like that we love for you to help." With that Dolly hugged back.
"Thanks bro." She smiled.
"Ahem." They both looked at Dawkins who was tapping his foot, "As much as I love when siblings come together we are running out of time." He mentions as he point to the clock which read 3:43pm.
"Oh Dog!!! We Have To Start Over..." Dylan was starting to freak out but Dolly grabbed ahold of him.
"Dylan bro chill theres three of us we got this with two brains and my awsome skills." She giggled which the boys look at each and roll there eyes, "We got this, Now Let's Make This Cake." She said as they got to work.
Back With Charlie and Da-Vinci
It has been a great day for Da-Vinci she got to see alot of stuff that she rarely got to see, Charlie was still looking for the perfect gift for her, he wanted to give her something special, something unique like her. While they were walking by an art store he spotted it there in a window was a
Beret it was pink (it matches her bandana) it also had a gold pin that looked like a paint pallet which had a small diamond, a emerald, a sapphire, a spinal, and a amethyst on the pallet to look like the colors.
"Da-Vinci hang on I think I found something wait right here." Before she got the chance to answer he ran into the store. While she was waiting she started to think.
'Why do I have warm sensations in my body, everytime I'm near him, oh he's so adorable, so nice so... hot...'
Da-Vinci face was hot, red hot when she thought about him like that
"I see someone is a little red on the face." She jumped when she heard a familiar sly voice, it was a fox looking at her, he had gold tooth and had a sort of Irish accent.
"Oh y-you s-scared me Fergus." She stuttered.
"Didn't mean to frighten you uh... Da-Vinci wasn't it?" Fergus asked which she nodded, "Eh DV will do, So couldn't help but noticed you and this human are on a date I see." He said slyly, which caused her to blush madly.
"W-what No no no no No he w-wanted to help w-with some i-inspiration with art." She explains but Fergus was too busy smirking to accept.
"Inspiration huh I'll buy it." He smirked only too look and see Charlie coming out the door with a bag, "Your boyfriend is back." She turned and blushed really hard.
"Hey DV, oh who's this?" He asked.
"Wait DV can he... understand me?." Fergus asked.
"Hey you have a tint of Irish in ya!" Charlie pointed out as Fergus drooped down in fear.
"So he can understand us, cool!" He smiled.
"You seem hungry."
"Nah don't mind me, I'll find food." Fergus smirked.
"Here, fresh hotdog just bought it." Charlie handed over the hot fog which Fergus quickly took.
"Wow thanks your very generous." He smiled as Charlie and Da-Vinci walked away, "Works everytime, time for dinner... Oh Shoot, the party..!" He said as he looked at the hotdog, "I'll come back for you my love." He said as he kissed and tossed the hotdogs into the trash, and took off after them.
"Well that was enjoyable." Charlie smirked.
"What you buy?" Da-Vinci tilting her head as they were walking.
"Oh something for me." He lied which she had a very big suspicious look on her face.
"Charlie you've been acting funny all day." She spoke up.
"What you mean?" He asked.
"Well you have been with me all day we've been to places together and it was really nice but I just dont understand why spend the day with me when you could've just hanged out with Dolly, I've seen how close you two were getting, you even let her sleep in your bed." She stated with a hint of anger in her speech.
"Woah Woah hold up DV. Dolly slept with me because she was hurt and she needed someone for awhile she treats like an older brother not like a bf. " he explains which she looked down in shame she could never forget that she saw the pain in Dolly's eyes, "Plus I wanted to spend time with you." He got down and hugged her which she hugged back.
"I'm sorry Charlie." She said trying not to cry which he went down and kissed her head, causing her to blush like crazy.
"Apology accepted now come on were nearly home."
Da-Vinci mind raced like a million miles an hour the feeling of his lips touching her head was the greatest experience ever, but she didn't want to freak out just yet they have to get home then she could run to the basement to let go of her thoughts.
A Couple Minutes Later
They finally were able to arrive from home.
"Did you had fun today Da-Vinci?" Charlie asked her which she smiled happily.
"Oh yes this was the best day ever."
"And its gonna get better, once me and you eat together and have that cake I promise." This made her tail wagged.
As Charlie was unlocking the door to the house he noticed she was smiling very warmly then before it's more of her warm expression which he thought it was very cute. He finally opened the door and Da-Vinci walked in first but noticed the whole place was dark.
"Is everyone already asleep?" She asked.
"I dont know maybe we should turn on the lights." Charlie suggested, which Da-Vinci headed twoards the light switch and flicked it on...
