I can't believe it

This poem is dedicated to an inspirational man who, in leaving this world so suddenly, has left a void in many hearts.

I can't believe what they're telling me - it can't possibly be true.

Can't we rewind or go back a day or simply click undo?

A world without you in it is far more black than white,

You taught so many good from bad and wrong from right.

Without you I'm a shy girl who won't try if she won't succeed,

But from you I learnt the way you do is sometimes better than the deed.

Your praise I craved, your smiles I cherished, your jokes were quite sub-par,

Where you led I followed on and, boy, did we go far.

You leave behind a family who love you to the bone,

Leave them behind to journey on to your immortal home.

I don't understand why He took you and I guess no one ever will,

But it makes it hard to believe in God when you're laying there so still.

I promise, in your memory, to seek to be my best,

To practice servant leadership and take on every test.

Ending this is too final, and words I cannot find,

How do you say goodbye to someone so good in heart and mind?

The planet has not stopped spinning, time continues on,

With every breath we have to face the fact that you are gone.

But what I take from this tragedy is that sometimes there is no 'why',

No matter How pure your soul you don't get to choose when to die.
