Being an Exceed

"Happy!!"

The blue exceed caught sight of you waving wildly at him.

He spread his small, white wings and swooped down to land on the table you were seated at.

"What's up?" The cat asked, looking up and letting his wings fade away.

You grinned, "Nothing. I just wanted to see you fly."

Happy looked weak, "Again?"

"Yeah," You chuckled, "You flying fascinates me."

Happy stared at you like you'd gone mad, "Why don't you ask Carla or someone to fly for you?"

"Come on, Happy," You shook your head at him, "There's only one cat that can fly like that."

Happy's chest rose, "That's true!"

You smiled.

"It must be all the fish I eat..." He began and you relaxed into your seat getting ready for flying lessons you didn't need.

Happy went on and on about the importance of proper eating and exercise and other such things you knew the cat didn't do.

"Little buddy!!"

You looked over as Happy's wings popped up and an excited smile spread across his face, "Natsu!!"

The blue exceed flew past you in an inhuman speed as you looked on with a slightly amused smile.

Natsu and Lucy were walking over to you with Lucy holding onto a paper with a request on it.

You sat up straight when you realized that they were looking at you.

"Hey, ­­____!" Natsu grinned, "Wanna join us on a job?"

Your mouth was hanging open and you struggled to reply, "M-me?"

Lucy smiled over at you, "Yeah! Come on!! It'll be fun!"

"I-" You began walking over to them, "Okay, um, when is it?"

"It-"

Erza was holding onto the paper now as Lucy and Natsu stared at her.

"Tomorrow. We'll have to catch a train right now then."

Lucy, you and Natsu blinked, "WE?"

Erza looked over at the three of you in surprise, "Of course. Now hurry."

"Yeah, we don't want to miss the train."

Lucy and Natsu glared over at a shirtless Gray who'd just showed up.

"No way!"

Gray raised an eyebrow, "No what?"

Lucy and you waited for Natsu to tell him it would be only the three of you.

"No way are we taking the train," Natsu yelled at him as Lucy and you sighed, "We'll take Happy! He can fly!!"
