"Elfman!!"

The towering man turned to you, "Yeah?"

You stopped in front of him and took a moment to catch your breath, "Where are you going?"

"On a mission," The scary guy told you, "And it's a manly mission too!"

You smiled at him when he beamed, "Uh, I bet."

Elfman gave you a surprised look, "Bet on what?"

You blinked once, "Never mind."

Elfman shrugged, "The prize money is two thousand jewels."

Your jaw dropped to the floor making him chuckle.

He gave you a grin, "Wanna come?"

"W- What, wait, me?" You stared up at him, "You'd take me?"

He shrugged, "Sure."

"W- What," You were still really unsure of how to respond, "What's the job about?"

"Subdueing a demon." Elfman said nonchalantly but you caught the way his nervous fingers were fiddling with the strap of his bag, "No big deal."

You stared into his eyes again, "Uh huh?"

"Yeah," Elfman bent to look at you with slightly pleading eyes, "Will you come? You don't need to do nothing!! Just... be there?"

You looked at him for a moment before giving him a softened smile, "Sure."

Elfman could take anyone down but he needed support.

Someone to cheer him on.

He pumped his fist in the air, "Yeah! Real men need company."

"Uh," You glanced around for a moment, "Can you wait for a few minutes? I need to get some stuff and also let Lucy know that I'm going on a job with you."

"Sure, I'll wait." Elfman straightened to his full height, "Waiting is manly too."

You only smiled at him before skipping away to find Lucy or Mirajane.

This was going to be great.

Knowing Elfman, he'd give you part of the reward money too.

All he needed was some company and a lot of cheering and support.

You'd be there for him and that's about all you needed to do.

You smiled to yourself thinking of the big, sweet, manly guy you had for a friend.

Maybe he'd take you on more missions like this one.
