Good Idea

"Gildarts!!"

The man in the cape, turned to watch you run over to him.

You finally reached him and bent over, trying to catch your breath, "You're back!!"

He gave you a smile and a pat on the head, "Sure am, kiddo."

You blinked, a huge smile on your face, "Natsu will be thrilled."

Gildarts laughed, "You're right! Someone should tell that kid. Hey, grab him and come to my cabin."

You saluted, "Aye, sir!"

He chuckled before walking away, humming to himself.

You wondered what he'd gotten for you or Natsu or Cana or Lucy or Macao or...

"Gildarts!!"

You flinched, your shoulders jumping as you stared up, eyes wide and in shock.

Natsu flew past you, the most genuinely happy smile you'd ever seen him wear.

"Oi."

You cringed when you heard the noise that signalled Gildarts had taken him down with one blow.

Turning around, you smiled as you watched Natsu and Gildarts chatter away.

You frowned with a small tilt of your head when you noticed something.

Gildarts looked tired after his long journey. Still, Fairy Tail's strongest mage shouldered his small bag and laughed with Natsu, even as his eyelids drooped slowly.

His smirk didn't waver though as he watched the little boy, he'd helped grow, talk away.

"Hey, Natsu," You skipped over to the pair who looked up, "I think Lucy wants you."

"Luce?" Natsu blinked, "She does?"

You nodded, "Bring her over. Gildarts and I are going to his cottage to relax, okay?"

Natsu thought for a moment before nodding, "Right. I'll bring Stripper and Metal Head too."

"Good idea," You smiled.

"Yeah," Gildarts said as you watched the excited Dragon Slayer run into the guild, "Good idea..."
