Disciples and Drinking

You sat with one leg on top of the other, almost a yoga position, as you balanced on one of the benches of the guild.

Natsu ran past, chasing after a screaming Lucy.

Gray followed yelling something about Natsu being stupid.

Juvia followed Gray sobbing something about love rivals.

You didn't even blink anymore.

So what else was new?

A young boy plunked down beside you and you paused in your jewel counting to look over at him.

"Oh, hey, Romeo!"

He glanced over at you with a smile, his scarf curled around his neck, "Hey."

"What's up?" You were counting up your jewels again.

That last job had paid heavily.

"Nothing much," Romeo mumbled.

You glanced at him once, "What's with that sad tone? Aren't you going to party with the rest of the gang?"

"Well," Romeo's face saddened a little more when he spoke, "I've been asking my dad if I can go on missions and he finally said 'yes'"

Raising an eyebrow, you shifted to reach out and take one of the jewels that had begun to roll away, "Why on Earthland would that make you sad?"

"It's not that..." The lad sighed, "He doesn't want me out on my own but with a group."

"Okay?"

"And I can't go with Team Natsu..."

You blinked, "Why not? We'd love to take you."

"Yeah," You heard him smile, "I know, but there's something else."

"I'm listening." You were.

"He, uh, doesn't exactly want me to hang around people who drink... Not right now..."

Your face was the most blank face in the history of blank faces.

"Macao doesn't want you around people who drink?"

He chuckled, "Yeah. Just... I need to figure out whether Natsu and the others drink or not."

You were done counting and tilted your head upwards to think.

"Well, I'm not sure otherwise, but we in Team Natsu never drink when we're on missions. Isn't that what Macao needs?"

Romeo's face almost glowed with hope, his eyes round with a look of joy.

You laughed.

Grabbing your jewels and throwing them into the small pouch that hung at your belt, you rose and reached out to let Romeo take your hand.

"Come on. Let's go find Macao."
