Chapter 82

"Asking For It by Kassiopeia Blackwood hits stores on the 3rd April. In this heartbreaking, chilling, and sarcastic memoir-come-exposé, Kassy Blackwood of the Kerberos mission shares never before known details of her early life, time at the Galaxy Garrison, and life in space." Kassy read out. Shiro smiled.

"I can't believe you wrote a book and got it published in 3 months." He smiled. "And now the world will know."

"There's gonna be outcry after this, isn't there?" she laughed.

"Let there be. People can't handle the truth."

Colleen knocked and entered. "Kassy, darling! Thanks for getting me early access. I devoured this book, and I'm so glad everyone will know what the Garrison is truly like." she took her by the face and kissed both her cheeks.

Kassy hugged Colleen tightly. "I don't know what I'd do without you, Colleen. Thank you, so much, for taking care of me."

"You're my daughter. Even if not by blood. I'll always be here."

The two women hugged. "Oh, yeah, how's Matt? We haven't heard from him in awhile." Shiro asked.

"He's been all caught up in baby stuff, bless him. Him and Daisy are getting married in a month, by the way, he wants both of you there but hasn't had the chance to tell you. That's also what I came to tell you."

"Oh, lovely. We'll be there." Kassy smiled.

"Okay, I'll be getting off. Expect calls from Sam at midnight, he's reading it right now and I know he doesn't know about most of it."

Kassy nodded. "See you, Colleen."

"Goodbye, sweetheart. Don't go online."

"I won't." she smiled and waved her off.

Kassy picked up the copy of her book, pride on her face. On the front was a photo of her, on her knees, tying her hair back, against a pale blue background. She had a vest top on; across the chest it was written: Asking For It. There was photos hung up in the blue void behind her, all faces scribbled out. One containing Iverson, one of her with Maeve, and her Kerberos portrait. Besides her, hung a noose.

"Watch everyone miss the point entirely." she turned to Shiro. "I'm so nervous."

"Just remember why you wrote this." he took her hand."

"I chose those pictures to represent the defining points in my life." she murmured. "And me on my knees, tying my hair back. That's self explanatory, right?"

"And then... the noose?"

"I tried to kill myself." her voice was quiet. "2 days before Kerberos, I hung up a noose because I didn't know how else to escape. I knew once I came back he would be on me again."

"Why didn't you go through with it?"

"I was in the Kerberos lounge. I couldn't find anywhere to hang the rope in my room, but the Kerberos lounge had a ceiling fan. Sam came in, and I pretended like I had just found the noose hanging and was scared. I'm not sure if he believed me but he dropped the subject. I didn't have the nerve after that."

He took her hand. "I'm sorry you felt that was the only way out."

"At the time, it was. I was planning my death the whole time we were on Kerberos. Until the Galra captured us."

"I'm glad everything worked out."

She nodded. "Right. Let's get dinner made."

"You like Lotor now?" Romelle asked.

"No. I hate the man. But... I cant control Elrine. If this is what she wants, who am I to stop her?" Coran sighed.

Romelle frowned. "I feel like I'm the only one bothered by this."

"We can't stop them, Romelle. If I ban them, she's unhappy and sees him anyway. I'm sorry. I know it's difficult." She frowned, and Coran placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Are you okay?" Allura asked Elrine. She was hunched over the toilet, throwing up.

"Yeah." she mumbled. "Must have eaten something bad."

"Yeah, must have done."

Romelle came to the doorway. "If she got knocked up by that monster, I'll..."

"Woah, woah, knocked up?" Allura asked. "They're not married. They can't have had sex."

"Allura, we're not married and we have a child." Romelle replied.

Allura stared at her, then Elrine. "Are you pregnant?!"

"I hope not because my dad will kill me if I am."

"I'll get you a test!" Romelle said.

"Wait, isn't there a ritual they need to do?" Allura asked.

"What? That's an ancient Altean thing. Pregnancy tests work just fine!" Romelle ran off.

"Goddamn Coran." Allura muttered, helping Elrine up.

Romelle came back with a test. "Here, Elrine."

"Where are you keeping those?" Allura asked.

"My room. You never know." she shrugged.

Elrine pushed them both out, and there was 5 minutes pass.

"What does it say, Elrine?" Allura asked.

She came out. "Positive."
