Chapter 80
Coran, Kassy, and Romelle rushed Allura to the hospital, getting there in record time.
"Yes! It only took 5 minutes!" Romelle said, a hand on Allura's back and her other one in her hand.
"Oh, quiznak." Allura murmured. Kassy rubbed her shoulder.
"Keep breathing, honey. You're gonna have your baby soon."
Coran got them a room, and Allura lay down.
"How are you feeling?" Romelle asked, squeezing her hand.
"Terrified. Does it hurt?"
Kassy nodded. "Afraid so, honey. But it's worth it."
Elrine entered. "Am I too late?! Is it here?!"
"We're barely getting started." Allura smiled at her.
"Ah, Elrine. Perfect." Coran turned to her.
"Coran, not now, please?" Allura touched his arm. "I- oh! Oh, god!"
"What is it? Contraction?" Kassy grabbed her hand, and Romelle screamed, running around the room.
"Romelle, calm yourself!" Coran said.
"Oh, God, I'm gonna be a mother. Me!" Coran helped her into a seat. "I'm gonna be a mother and have to look after a little baby that's mine and I'll have to be responsible, and-"
"Romelle, breathe." Allura said.
"And it'll grow up into its own person, and it'll call me mum, and I'll-"
"Romelle, snap out of it! You've had 6 months to panic, now you need to help me!" Allura said.
Romelle stared at her, eyes wide, and nodded.
"Good, thank you."

"Hey, just to warn you, Romelle might have found out about you and Elrine and probably told Coran. I'd put a will together if I was you." Rora said.
"What." Lotor stared at her. "Oh, God. This is it. It's over with the only person I've ever had a connection like this with."
"A connection? You really like her?"
"Of course I do!" He frowned. "This is it. I can kiss my second chance goodbye. I think most of them were either on the fence about trusting me or didn't at all, so..."
She patted his shoulder. "It was nice knowing you." She checked her phone. "You might have some time. Allura's in labour. He'll be so caught up with the baby he might forget all about it."

"My little Faiere." Romelle whispered, the baby in her arms. Coran gazed over her shoulder, his face tear stained.
"She's perfect. Of course, Altean babies always are."
Romelle was stunned into silence for once, just gazing down at her daughter's face.
"Faiere Melenor, the new princess." Allura smiled, as Kassy rubbed her shoulder.
"You feeling okay?" she asked.
"Yeah. Tired, of course, but thanks for being here. I know you've done it before, so..."
Kassy smiled. "That's okay."
Elrine looked at her. "I'm so proud of you, Allura. I don't know if I could ever do that. What did you want to say, father?"
"Hm? ...oh, doesn't matter."
***
"A little girl, Keith! They've had a girl." Lance smiled.
"That's nice." Keith replied, not looking up from his phone. He was watching very loud TikToks.
"Keith."
"Yeah?"
"Allura and Romelle had a girl." Lance repeated.
"I know."
"Turn your phone off."
Keith turned it off. "What's up?"
"Baby, when are we gonna have one?"
Keith froze and his eyes widened. "Uh. Soon?"
"Look, I need a time frame to work with here. If you're not ready, just say that. I know you're more than capable, and I want to be clear here and say that I want a baby. I told you from the start I wanted to have kids, and I'd just like to know how far away that'll be."
Keith looked at him for a moment. "The thought of myself as a father terrifies me."
"It's always gonna terrify you, Keith. Look, please be straight with me. Do you ever want children?"
"Yes, Lance, I do. I truly do, I'm not just saying that. It's just..."
Lance took a seat. "I know it's scary. It's always gonna be scary." he took his hand. "I'm not saying it has to be right now. But I know you'd be the best daddy to any kids we'd have. Getting married, that was scary, right?"
"Terrifying."
"But once it happened, you were in a state of euphoria, weren't you? And nothings gone downhill since then. So...?"
Keith looked down. "I worry I'll mess them up. Lance, you know how fucked up I am."
"I know, baby, I know. But Kassy's fucked up too, and she's the best mom I know. Other than my own, obvs."
Keith looked up at him. "I want this, Lance." he whispered. "But not yet. Come on, I'm 23, you're 22. We have life to live. I think... 30."
"7 years?"
Keith nodded. "If it changes, I'll tell you."
Lance nodded. "Got you." He wrapped his arms around him. "Love you."
"Love you too."

"Lotor. Just the man I wanted to see." Coran said to Lotor. "Take a seat. I think the two of us need to have a chat."
"Are you going to crush me into dust in less than one dobosh?"
"Would you like me to? I was going to offer you an alternative, but if that's what you wish..."
He shook his head and sat down. "Let's hear the other option."
"It's come to my attention recently that you've been... spending time with my daughter. After I specifically told you you were to go nowhere near her. Now, I was angry when I found out. However, that was before I realised... my daughter is in love with you."
Lotor looked up at him in surprise. "She is?"
"Her body language, I know. Lotor, I cannot have this happen. You've done far too much damage for me to even consider it. So, she won't accept it if I end it by force." he leaned in. "So you must end it. And you must return to wherever you came from."
Lotor stared at him, a sick feeling in his stomach. "I will do nothing of the sort. I love Elrine, and I shall continue loving her, not hurting her."
"Well, I suppose you like the other option? Either you leave yourself or I make you. I don't like you, Lotor, and your presence will not be tolerated when you brought so much pain to those closest to me. My Allura? You took her deepest, most intimate feelings and used those against her. Don't you remember how you caused the death of thousands of generations of Alteans? You claim to be changed, but change will never undo it."
He frowned. "Please, Coran." he whispered. "I truly will treat her well. I am genuinely trying to change."
Coran looked at him. "If you'll do what's right, you'll take your leave now."
***
Coran entered with Lotor. Kassy, Shiro, Rora, Keith, Lance, Romelle and Elrine were stood around.
Elrine smiled at him, and gave him a tiny wave. However, he remained serious.
Coran said nothing, taking a seat.
Elrine cleared her throat. She had devised her own little plan; and she took Lotor's hand.
"Father?"
"Yes, my star?"
"I know you may not like this, but... Lotor and I are together."
Kassy exchanged a glance with Shiro, ready for Coran to hit the roof. He simply looked at Lotor.
"No... we aren't." Lotor said, pulling his arm away. Elrine looked at him in confusion.
"What do you mean?" she murmured. "We are."
"We aren't together. You must have misunderstood."
"Lotor, yesterday, you told me you loved me." she whispered.
He shook his head. "I don't think I did. Why would I ever love you?"
Kassy got up. "Okay, buddy, that's too far, you wanna throw some hands? You don't talk to Elrine like that! I've killed 2 men in my life, I will end you!"
"Kassy, si- wait, 2?" Shiro took her arm.
"I'll tell you later. Anyway, Lotor, you feel like fucking off?"
Romelle glared at him. "I just knew you were awful. Why did any of us expect any less of him? He's playing with Elrine like a toy, exactly like he did to Allura."
Elrine stared at him, tearing up. "You're being serious, arent you?"
"Oh, Elrine..." Coran put an arm around her.
"Lotor, what the hell is wrong with you?" Lance asked. "Get out of here."
Lotor stared at Elrine, helplessly, as she collapsed into tears in her father's arms.
"Elrine, you want him to leave?" Coran asked.
She broke from his hug, and glared at Lotor. "You are everything everyone warned me about." she said. "I thought you were everything. And yet you're nothing but a coward." she frowned, before leaving, slamming the door shut.
"I think you need to leave now." Shiro said as Kassy followed Elrine out.
Lotor nodded, and left.
