Chapter 43

"Everything packed?" Colleen asked. Rora nodded.

"Yep. Everything I'll need."

"Oh, I'm so proud of you." Colleen smiled and hugged her daughter for a moment. "You're so grown up."

"How many times have you cried, mom?" Matt asked.

"More than I can count." she laughed. "Oh, here I go again."

Matt and Rora gathered their mother into a hug, as she cried.

"I'm going to miss you so much!" she said.

"You have Matt and Pidge. And I'll FaceTime you every day. Don't cry, mom."

Sam poked his head in. "Have you set her off again?"

"Apparently." Matt smiled. "Hey, where's Pidge?"

"Asleep." Sam said.

"If she said that, she's lying. That bitch has no sleep schedule. She's in bed at like, 4am."

Colleen stopped crying for a moment. "Well, that's not very healthy. What is she doing?"

"Video games, or just tinkering away." Rora shrugged.

Matt laughed. "Unsurprising. What a nerd."

"Shut up, Matt." came Pidge's voice from her room.

"I knew she was awake." Rora smiled. "Right. I'm at the airport in the morning, so I'm getting to bed. Even if there are some among us who aren't."

"Alright, sweetie. I'll see you in the morning, and we'll all take you and Axca to the airport. Are any of your friends coming?"

"Keith is, Lance might if he can be bothered getting up.  Um... Hunk is. I don't know about anyone else."

"Alright. Night night, honey." Colleen kissed her forehead. "Sleep tight."

It was 6am, and Axca and Rora were at the airport. Keith, Lance, Hunk, Kassy, and Shiro had all shown up to wave them off, alongside all the Holts.

"Right, honey. Ring me the minute you land, okay?" Colleen said. She cupped her daughter's face and kissed her cheek. "I packed you some garlic bread and a sandwich, and some chocolate. There's enough for you and Axca. And remember, if you need anything at all, I'm a call away. Day, night, whenever. But try not to call me after 11pm."

"Yes, mom." Rora smiled, before enclosing her in a huge hug. "I'll really miss you."

"Come here, Axca." Colleen smiled and pulled her into the hug. "Take care of yourselves, now."

"Your mother is right. Anything at all. You'll always be our little girl, so if you need anything at all... you know where we are." Sam smiled and sniffled, pulling them both into a hug.

Matt was next. "Hey, Rora, the French will love you. They like anything fashionable. I think, anyway." he hugged her.

"And you better stop flirting with Kassy."

"I don't mind!" Kassy said.

"She doesn't mind!" Matt shrugged. "Ugh, I'll miss you so much."

"I'll miss her more!" Pidge said, interrupting the hug. "How can we ever be the Gremlins when you're in France! You're my favourite sibling!"

"Thanks, Pidge." Matt said.

"You're welcome." Pidge laughed, before it developed into sobs. She threw her arms around her. "Why are you leaving me, you stupid bitch?"

"Sorry, Pidge." she smiled slightly, hugging her for a solid minute. "I love you. Stop staying up so late, okay?"

"Never."

"Didn't think you would." she smiled, kissing her head. "Love you."

"Love you too."

"We'll miss you, Rora." Kassy smiled. Shiro nodded.

"It won't be the same without you." Shiro said. The two hugged her, until she pulled away.

"What will I do without Space Dad and Mom?" she sniffled.

"Time to become an adult." Kassy smiled. "I believe in you. But if you need your Space Parents... you know where we are."

Rora nodded, turning to Hunk. "I heard they're good chefs in France. But I bet they're nothing compared to you."

Hunk smiled before crying. "Oh, I was just holding it together, too."

"I'll miss you." she said, hugging him. "And your incredible cuddles."

"I'll miss cuddling you." he said, holding on for a few moments.

Then, Lance and Keith.

"You'll be fine." Keith smiled. "In fact, you'll be in your element and you'll probably never want to come back."

"As if." Rora smiled. "I'll miss you. My favourite Emo Gay."

"I'll miss you. My favourite Gremlin Lesbian." he smiled, and actually initiated the goodbye hug, which a sobbing Lance hijacked.

"Goodbye, Rora! Goodbye, Axca!" he sobbed. "I'm gonna kill myself once I get home now!"

"Don't be dramatic." Rora said. "I'll miss you too, Lance."

The disembodied voice called out their plane.

"Oh, this is it!" she smiled. "I'll miss you all. I'll see you, okay?"

The group called their goodbyes to Rora and Axca as the two left.

Lance turned to Shiro, finally calming down. "Can you take us to McDonalds?"
