Chapter 34
"Why am I coming?" Pidge sighed as Kassy dragged her, Rora, Romelle, Coran, and Allura to a wedding dress shop.
"Because, you guys are the only women I'm friends with. I wanted Maeve here, but surprise, she's dead."
"I'm not a woman." Coran said.
"Yeah, okay. Well, we got our wedding moved up, because of the Voltron thing, so now we only have 3 months. I wanted my wedding dress well more in advance than that, so it means we have to do it now."
Romelle immediately squealed, running around, looking at all of the dresses.
"I don't understand, being honest, the wedding dress tradition."
"It's a human thing. Brides always wear a white dress."
"Why?" Coran asked. "On Altea, it's usually a mix of bright colour! Yellow, to symbolise happiness, green for peace, pink for those who can't attend, and white for purity."
"Queen Victoria popularised it. White also symbolises virginity, cos in a lot of religions you're not supposed to lose your virginity until after marriage."
"Boring!" Romelle said. "If I find Mrs or Mr Romelle on my travels, I'm wearing a pink dress with peacock feathers."
"Sure Romelle."
The group ransacked the store, finding armfuls of dresses to try on.
"Alright, there's like, 50 dresses here. I'm gonna go through and veto some so we have a more manageable amount."
10 minutes later, Kassy had narrowed it down to 10 dresses, and also 3 she had found herself.
"You vetoed all of mine!" Romelle frowned.
"They were all nice, Romelle, but for you, not for me." Kassy said, before disappearing into the changing room.
She tried on one of Pidge's first. As she walked out, Pidge coughed, spluttered, and started laughing.
"What?"
"I'm sorry, did I choose that? Oh, man, go take it off immediately."
"What? I like it!" Kassy said.
Pidge looked at her again before laughing again. "No, sorry, sorry, it's nice."
Romelle shook her head. "I get the feeling Pidge doesn't mean that. Try another on."
2 long hours later, Kassy was down to her last dress, and had been relatively unsuccessful. However, as she stepped out, there was a soft gasp from her entourage.
"That's the one there." Rora said.
"You guys think? I was so scared to come out because this is the one but I didn't want you to start criticising it."
Romelle bounced, clapping her hands. "You look perfect!"
Allura nodded. "That's such a beautiful dress."
Coran wiped away a tear. "Is anyone else emotional?"
"You have to get that one!" Romelle said. "Please!"
"I will."
The group purchased the dress, and returned home. It was approaching the hottest days of the year, and they entered Kassy's back garden.
"Cocktails?" Coran asked.
"I'm not drinking." Kassy said.
"Why not?" Romelle asked.
"Because, I might be a bit too dependent on it. Plus, we've got an appointment for implantation in 2 weeks, and I don't wanna go cold turkey when I'm pregnant."
"So it's happening?" Pidge asked. "You two are gonna have a baby?"
Kassy nodded. "Hopefully. The success rate isn't that high, but I have faith." she smiled.
"And you're the one carrying it?" Allura asked. Kassy nodded.
"The doctors said that Veronica's uterus could be inhabitable for a pregnancy, and the risk of miscarriage is way higher. So it's less risky for me to carry it."
"Oh, understandable." Allura nodded. "You have name ideas?"
"We have a few ideas." she smiled.

"So, if you wanna go travelling, you're gonna have to get a passport." Keith said to Romelle. "You have an Earth citizenship, so we can apply for a passport, and you'll be able to go wherever then." Keith said to Romelle.
"For free?!"
"No."
"Oh."
"Oh, by the way, have you got a wedding outfit?" Keith asked. "Shiro helped me choose a tux. There's less than a week until the wedding."
"Well, I saw this dress I liked, but Kassy said no. So she helped me choose this really nice dress, and I'm very excited to wear it!"
"Good."
At that moment, Kassy entered. "What do I do?!"
"Why?" Romelle asked. "You seem stressed."
"I realised then that I have nobody walking me down the aisle. And I could do with someone, you know? It's not like I've waited my whole life for this moment! Coran's refusing, my brother won't do it, Sam doesn't feel comfortable. I don't know who else to ask."
Romelle raised her hand. "I'll do it! What does that mean?"
"It's a tradition in human weddings for the bride's dad to walk her down the aisle."
"But I'm not your dad." She frowned.
"It doesn't have to be a father figure." Keith said. "You could ask Shiro."
"Shiro? Really?"
"He's your closest friend, isn't he?"
"But he's my best man."
"He can walk you down the aisle too, right? It's your wedding, you can do what you want."
"That's true. I'll go ask him." Kassy ran off.
"I wanted to walk her down the aisle." Romelle mumbled.
"You're her favourite bridesmaid, though, someone has to be that."
Romelle perked up. "That's true."
Rora chased Pidge. "You are wearing a dress!"
"I am not wearing dress! I will jump out of the window and kill myself and it will be your fault if you make me wear a dress!" Pidge yelled back.
Matt sighed. "The wedding is next week, there's still time to find another outfit."
"Thank you, Matt, now please protect me from that horrible bitch." Pidge hid behind him.
"Fine. We'll find something." Rora sighed.
"I can't believe one of us is getting married. We're getting old, guys."
"Not me." Pidge sighed, sitting on the couch. "I'm all good still."
"You're gonna be 19 soon. Then 20, and then you won't be a tiny baby teenager anymore."
"Shiro is literally, like, 29." Rora said. The group snorted and started laughing.
"Actually, he's technically 7. He was born on a leap year."
The group looked at each other and laughed again.

Kassy woke up to the sound of her alarm. She was getting ready in Shiro's house, and Romelle, Rora, Pidge, Allura, Hunk and Coran were all present, ready to prepare.
She blinked blearily and gasped.
"I'm getting married today!"
