According To Fate
Rin and Kiko were suddenly broken up. Rumors ran rampant as to why they broke up. Some of them involved Akari, however no one was dumb enough to confront Akari nor did they have the guts to speak about it in front of Rin.
Four years pass with Rin keeping his distance from Kiko, Mollie and Sophine. His friendship with Donovan, Delan and Wuying was rocky. Donovan became distant from Delan and Wuying. He would leave Rin's side if Delan or Wuying came to speak to Rin. Rin tried to ask him why he was acting the way he was, but all he told Rin was that Delan and Wuying was not the kind of a friend he wanted in his life. Rin asked for clarification, however Donovan only shook his head and told him that if ever Rin was in a situation where he needed help, he shouldn't rely on Delan and Wuying to watch his back. When Rin asked Delan and Wuying about it, they told him that they didn't want to talk about it.
Within the past four years, Rin found Akari's hidden nook in the library and made himself a permanent spot next to her. As long as Rin didn't annoy her too much, she could stand his presence next to her.
Over the four years, she tried to have Kiko and Rin reconcile, however her plans were not thorough enough. The moment Rin saw Kiko, he would turn and walk away. Any time Kiko and Rin were in the same room, Rin was made sure to walk to the opposite side of the room.
They were 14 years old now and had moved to a different dormitory. They were six months into the year. At the end of the year, Akari would leave Astronia Academy and train with her teacher at Neboto Mountain. She couldn't wait to get away from Rin and Kiko. She would live on Neboto Mountain and avoid her death! She became excited just thinking about it. But before she left, she had to make sure Rin and Kiko were together.
Rin sat beside her during lunch. The two of them were sitting in the tree eating their sandwiches.
"Rotten girl." Rin said as he finished his sandwich. "When is your Master comming to get you?"
"Why are you asking, crybaby?"
"Just wondering." Rin told her. "You still have that necklace I gave to you at my Circle of Fate ceremony?"
Akari stopped chewing and tried to remember where it was. It had been so long since she saw the necklace. She wore it that one time and quickly took it off afterwards. She threw it somewhere in her room and Lena picked it up and placed in her jewelry box. Since then she never thought about it.
"Do you have it?!?" Rin asked as he took her sandwich from her hand and ate the rest of it.
"I do." Akari said as she threw an apple at Rin and watched as Rin caught the apple and bit into it. Akari cleaned her apple with a clean napkin before biting into her apple. "Why?"
"Just wondering." Rin said as he hid his thoughts and emotions. To this day, he wore his side of the necklace around his neck, never taking it off. He was happy she still had it.
"Has your Master reached out to you yet?"
Akari looked over to Rin as if she was looking at a dumb person.
"I'm just curious!?!" Rin said in defense.
"Why are you asking, crybaby? Are you going to miss me when I'm gone?" Akari teased. "Are you going to cry when I leave?"
"Of course I'm going to miss you!" Rin said as he looked away. "So what if I do cry! It's not like you're going to see it and call me crybaby. Besides, it's going to be awhile until I get to call you 'rotten girl' again!"
Akari tsked at him. Akari's eyes lit up as she saw her plan come into action. Kiko walked out from the academy and made her way towards the tree Akari and Rin sat in. Ever since Rin broke up with Kiko, Kiko never came back to the place where it all happened.
Kiko stood by the tree and waited. Rin watched with hidden emotions as he looked down at Kiko. Why was she there and who is she waiting for.
His question was soon answered as Wuying came out from the academy. He held a bouquet of flowers and his clothes were stylish. He looked very handsome. Wuying stood next to Kiko and bent down to one knee.
"Please accept these flowers." Wuying said as he pushed the flowers into Kiko's hands. "And be my girlfriend."
Rin's eyes bulged out in surprise. His best friend and his ex-girlfriend? A sudden rage overcame his senses and he wanted to hit Wuying. He wanted to grab Wuying by the throat and choke him while taking Kiko far away from Wuying. A sudden feeling of possessiveness came over him as he gripped the branch he was sitting on tighter.
"Please say you feel the same way too." Wuying said as Kiko kept looking at him.
Kiko's head nodded yes and Wuying stood up quickly. He hugged Kiko and spun her around before kissing her cheek.
"You made me the happiest man." Wuying told her. "I asked you to come here because I know this spot reminds you of bad memories. But I wanted to meet you here because I wanted to create a happy memory with you to replace the sad memory."
Kiko nodded her head again and tears of joy fell down her face.
"Do you feel the same way I do?" Wuying asked.
Kiko nods her head again and Wuying smiles brighter at her.
"Let's go tell all our friends." Kiko said.
Wuying's smile froze.
"Rin. What will Rin think?" Kiko asked.
"Doesn't matter. He had his chance and he messed it up. I won't make you sad or mad. I will care for you and protect you." Wuying promised her. "Trust me. Okay?"
Kiko nodded her head in agreement. Wuying took her hand and ran off to go tell their friends that they were a couple.
Rin sat so still as if he became one with the tree. Akari hid her smile behind the apple she finally bit into again. The crunching noise woke Rin out from his daze look.
"You okay?" Akari asked.
Rin's eye were conflicted. There was still apart of him that wanted to chase after Kiko and wanted to be with her. Then there was this other side that wanted to run away from her.
Then there was another side of him that only wanted to be with Akari and worried about her. The side that told him to hold on to her and never let go.
When he was with Kiko, there was a sense of being so in love. So happy with her. Life with her would be wonderful and perfect. She was his angel and would treat him well. And yet his senses were telling him to get away. It was telling him to be wary of her and stay away.
When he was with Akari, he felt comfortable and happy. His senses were telling him that she was someone who he could be himself with. When she was not in his sight, he worried about her. Thought about her. Worried that she would leave and never come back. That he would never find her again.
Rin was stuck between a rock and a hard place. He didn't know who to choose. One gave him mixed feelings and the other gave him comfort and anxiety. He didn't know what to do.
"Are you alright with them going out together?" Akari asked.
This time it was Rin who did not answer.
"If you're feeling some type of way, then maybe you should do something about it." Akari told him. "Or you could just cry about it, crybaby."
Rin glared at Akari for a moment before he jumps off the tree. He finished his apple before throwing the core away. Rin marched back into the academy as Akari sat back into her tree.
For the past six months, she knew she had to get Rin and Kiko to make up again. The only way to do that was to introduce a love rival. And what better love rival, then his best friend. Akari wrote Kiko and Wuying a love letter stating that it was from the other person.
At first nothing happened, but after a "fated" encounter where Kiko's shoe broke while walking to class and Wuying "accidently" finding the damsel in distress. Wuying offered to carry Kiko on his back, back to the dormitory so she could get another pair of shoes.
After that day, they secretly wrote letters to each other. Before the letters were delivered, Akari would read them first and add a few details of her own to the letter, making it more spicy so they could develop feelings for each other faster.
It took six months of her schemes for this day to arrive. And it happened perfectly. Now according to fate, Rin will get together with Kiko. Akari felt she could leave without any regrets.
