Over My Dead Body

My head felt like it was being crushed by a dumpster truck repeatedly. As I fluttered my eyes open, I exhaled a breath into my hand, only to find it smelling worse than a camel's ass in a sandstorm. Just getting up from the couch was a chore and made it extraordinarily difficult to stand up without pins and needles in full effect.

The second I've heard about the party, I was jumping for joy, and when Hailey said I'm able to drink until I'm contended made for an amazing evening. However, waking up earlier the next day was the problem. Everyone had to be in the studio by six in the morning for makeup and filming began sharply at eight.

Fragments of memories from last night drifted in my brain as I slumped towards the restroom. My mascara appeared like a puddle underneath my eyes and gave me the raccoon effect. Poor Wesley's face was engraved in my mind like a permanent tattoo.

Why did he have to go and catch feelings? I thought our entire situation was casual and fun for the time being. I should've known a nerd like him would get attached to me, especially once I fumbled the bag and slept with him.

I admitted that wasn't the brightest idea.

But at the time, I was horny and drunk,  and he was there.

Wrong place, wrong time?

The sex was decent from someone with little to no experience, but with a teacher like myself; I knew he would make a girl satisfied one day. Getting my career rolling was first on my priority list and with my agents breathing down my neck, I couldn't afford to fuck it up again. I give Wesley two weeks until he bounces back like nothing ever happened between us.

After a well-needed shower, I threw on a Lulumon set and collapsed back onto the couch as I waited for my driver to message me. My body ached too much to even attempt at cooking breakfast beside it would just end on the kitchen floor.

My phone pinged with a message, and I felt my stomach sink to the floor when I recognized the unknown number.

Unknown Sender- It's my favorite time of the month... Message me a place and time. ASAP or you know what happens ;)

Suddenly, consuming another bottle of gin sounded like an amazing idea. While this was his favorite time of the month, I loathed it more than anything else in the world. Even more than Sasuke, and God, I hated him. It's like he had an automatic timer and sent a message right when the new month started.

I wrapped myself in the duvet, waves of nausea adding to my misery. Did I want to throw up because of all my drinking or because I had to see him again?

A knock on my door only caused the headache to pulsate.

"Stop knocking, Jesus, I'm coming," I shouted, and fumbled off the couch with the duvet still wrapped around my body.

A frown slithered onto my lips when I opened the door and saw Hailey and Milo standing outside. Just from their tensed jaws and annoyed expression, my brain made the connection that little old Davina was in big trouble...

"My morning is so much brighter now that you guys are here." I smiled as the lie rolled off my tongue.

Hailey chuckled along with my joke. "Ha-Ha very funny but we didn't come for a lovely chat."

"No, really?" I gasped dramatically.

"Stop with the jokes," Hailey spoke sternly, "We have an important thing to discuss."

"Don't we always," I mumbled as I sink back onto the couch.

"Davina." Milo gritted his teeth.

"What? I haven't done anything! I drank a few drinks last night after you guys gave me permission and I ignored all the boys throwing themselves at me," I angrily spewed.

"Have you checked the trending page?" Hailey asked.

I shook my head. "No, why?"

"Here." Hailey flicked through her iPad before facing it towards me.

Davina Dialaurenties slept with an unknown castmate and dumped him after taking his virginity. A drunken, a druggie, a man predator. Have we lost our innocent childhood star forever?

Are you kidding me? Who babbled about me to the paparazzi? Milo made everyone sign a nondisclosure contract to keep my colleagues from tarnishing my image. It had to be that freaking idiot, Ambrose or Wesley. No one else knew about our little fling.

"Does being on good behavior mean nothing to you?" Milo scolded, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"This isn't my fault!" I shouted.

"No, nothing is ever your fault, Davina." Hailey irritated rolled her eyes. "How do you expect us to get you out of this mess?"

"By saying it's a lie," I responded in a duh tone.

"They have multiple sources. We have to come up with an elaborate plan to have the general public believe it's a lie," Hailey explained as if I was the dumbest person on earth.

"Which is?" I tilted my head. "You guys wouldn't come bothering me unless you had a plan on your sleeve."

"We have discussed the possibilities of a PR relationship," Milo revealed, removing his circular glasses and cleaning the smudge.

"Again? Wasn't suffering through a relationship with Shawn Gallanger enough?" I asked as a sigh of aggravation slipped out.

"It's the only way to fix the situation. If you're in a PR relationship, we can promote you guys as a couple while this whole fiasco happened and convince the public that hooking up with this castmate wasn't possible since you're in a committed relationship," Milo clarified.

"Seems like you got everything planned," I muttered.

"We have three options for your potential boyfriend, Sav Coyne," Hailey listed.

I gagged dramatically. "He's uglier than a doorknob."

"Yeah, that's why it's a fake relationship," Hailey sassily replied.

"Alright... but I still have to make out with the guy and hold hands with him. I rather be caught dead than have him as my boy toy." I cringed at the thought of us walking hand in hand.

"Fine." Hailey clicked her tongue and flipped the paper in her hand. "Second option is Oliver Goldsworthy."

"The actor in that god awful superhero movie? Are you sure these are beneficial to me?" I asked, with a raised brow.

"Oliver Goldsworthy is extremely popular with the teen girls after the success of his first single. Being his girlfriend would have his fanbase supporting your success," Milo deadpanned, he always nonchalantly whenever I question his reasoning.

"I'm not sure. It sounds like a lot of young girls hating on me for stealing their celebrity crush. I already receive plenty of hate. I don't need to add any more fuel to the fire," I spoke my thoughts honestly.

"There's a possibility of his fanbase disliking the idea of you, too, but the mature ones will support you guys unconditionally. I think the pros weigh out the cons," Milo advised.

"Next option," I shouted.

"Final choice is Ambrose Bright." My eyebrows leaped to my hairline. "He's an upcoming star on this competition show seems to be gaining a big fanbase with only Youtube clips to support him. He has a clean image to the public and would be perfect for you to latch onto him."

I scoffed. "This has to be some kind of joke. I'm not dating that idiot."

"What's the problem with this one?" Hailey sighed, kneading the sides of her forehead with her fingers.

"He's an annoying asshole, that's the problem," I jeered, frustration written all over my features.

"Ambrose has a clean-cut image for the public. No one would suspect him of lying because he's a newcomer. His personality is all the talk these days and latching onto him would be in your best interest. It would make the general public not think of you as a stuck-up snob," Milo prompted.

"I'm not a stuck-up snob!"

"Really?" Hailey ridiculed, "Because all you have done is complain about every single option instead of being a grown-up and picking one."

"Maybe if you guys picked better options I wouldn't be complaining," I retorted.

"Just take a few days to think it through but we have to make you guys public by the end of the week or the timeline wouldn't make sense for those intense fans that theorized everything." Milo cleared his throat. "We should get going or you will be late."

Our driver drove us over to the studio, which was twenty minutes away from the hotel. By the time we arrived, everyone else was leaving their scheduled buses and entering the building. With a yawn, I walked into the building and straight to my private dressing room.

Milo and Hailey are the definitions of irresponsible. They took a large cut of my earnings every year and still failed at keeping my image clean as a cucumber. Now, they were forcing me into a PR relationship after the last one completely ruined my reputation to the public. Fake dating with Shawn brought my brief experiment with drugs on a new rise and he sold pictures of us to the media.

Milo and Hailey fumbled the bag with that one.

So how was I going to trust them wholeheartedly if they messed up before?

"Can you add more blush to my cheeks? I'm trying to look young, not like a deceased corpse," I nagged, and seized the palette from her hands. "Just let me do it and get me a black coffee. Please."

"Of course," Melanie responded faster than I could blink.

My taste in blush was quite peculiar. The rosy pink shade had to perfectly collide with my ivory skin while also giving off summer sunburn type of vibes. It's one of my number one suggestions of appearing younger and worked every single time.

A deep sigh departed from my lips as I waited impatiently for Melanie's arrival. She probably got lost in this enormous building, and the break room was on the opposite side of where my dressing room was located. Maybe I should go look for her before someone yelled at her for snooping around.

The hallways were a bland shade of brown. However, the many photographs of the television shows produced in this studio hung on the walls. Fun fact, one of my hit tv shows was filmed right in this studio. I started in one of those generic vampire teen romances and was the lead star of the movie.

It was one of my favorite photoshoots to date. The director poured gallons of fake blood over me while I mimicked a vampire. As I took a turn, I saw my picture hanging perfectly on the wall, and damn did I looked amazing.

My appreciation was cut short when I heard two familiar voices in the distance. It sounded exactly like my two closest friends-- Milo and Hailey. I pursed my lips as I wandered closer to the conversation between them.

"Listen, Ambrose, we think dating Davina would benefit your career immensely. Not only does dating Davina bring exposure to your food blog, but the contact provides a thirty thousand bonus, a longer lifeline on the competition, and a contact to create your own cooking show," Milo recited from his sheet of paper.

"This is only the beginning. Once the world knows about the romance budding between two co-stars, countless opportunities will land on your doorstep," Angie insisted.

"I don't want to come off as ungrateful but I joined the competition for experience and fun besides Davina and I aren't the best of friends," Ambrose stated, which ticked at my patience.

"That's an understatement," I muttered.

Milo exchanged glances with Hailey and then glared at me. "This was a private conversation, Davina."

"Then why were you guys talking in the middle of the hallway for everyone to hear?" I sarcastically retorted.

"Here she goes." Ambrose scoffed under his breath. "Thank you for the offer but I'm currently seeing someone from home."

I laughed humorlessly. "Who? Lana?"

"Yeah," he deliberately drawled, "How did you know?"

"Let's just say Wesley gets pretty chatty when he's being pleasured. He rambled all about your undying love for this random girl who didn't give you a time of day. It's kind of pathetic," I coolly answered.

Ambrose snickered as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "Pathetic? Is that what you call someone who has feelings?"

"Your pathetic because you let this girl run all over you. It's the same cycle. She only wants you when everything goes wrong than when she has no use for you... you're pushed to the side like the dirt beneath her feet." My nonchalantly tone and demeanor slowly slipped.

"Don't ever speak bad about Lana," Ambrose gritted between his teeth.

I pouted. "Aww... did I hit a nerve? Is little Ambrose going to cry because he learned the truth about his precious first love? Sorry, not sorry, but don't come crawling back once she breaks your heart for the how many times?" I strutted away from the conversation, oozing confidence.

Milo cleared his throat and appeared a little awkward as he reached for his pen. Hailey looked at Ambrose with subtle warning and I was just amused at how worked up he got with a few innocent jabs.

Ambrose burst into laughter. "I cannot believe the bullshit that comes out of your mouth."

My eyebrows knotted together. "Excuse me?"

"You're the easiest person to read."

"Oh, I didn't realize I was a novel, Davina Dialaurenties by Ambrose Bright," I sarcastically teased. "So if that's the case, then tell me what's my favorite food?"

"You're jealous of Lana," Ambrose revealed.

Pig snorts departed from my lips. That's how funny he was being. "What kind of sick joke is this? I'm not jealous of anybody."

"Your eyes say otherwise. You act out because you want attention from anyone-- managers, co-workers, flings." He held out three fingers, "Someone like you drives on the attention of others, That's why you're the perfect celebrity. A heartless bitch who just sucks everyone dry until they become just like you."

"I hate when people think they know me from just one or two meetings. The truth is no one knows me, not even my managers, or my own mother because I only allow people to see what I want them to and that's the best way to be."

"So much anger," Ambrose mused, "I'm just stating the obvious. No need for so much attitude."

"There is no attitude," I brushed off his statement with a tight-lipped grin. "I'm only correcting your observation about me."

"My observation?" Ambrose repeated. "Perhaps, but the evidence is right there in front of all of us."

"Because as I said, I only allow people to know what I want them to. I allowed you to know that I don't care about Wesley and our fling; if I didn't, then our relationship would've stayed quiet instead of everyone meddling."

"Why do relationships scare you?" Ambrose casually asked, "Who broke your heart, Davina?"

My blood boiled to a million degrees. "My heart? No one has had the chance to touch the surface of my ribcage long enough to reach my heart."

"I don't buy it. For you to be so unsympathetic towards love and relationships, you'd have to be deeply hurt."

His simple statement triggered the seething resentment in my gut. I took a deep breath and looked at him squarely. "Listen here idiot, you met me like a week go so I don't need to answer your dumbass questions so I'd appreciate it if you leave."

"Ohh, touchy. I see my theory is correct," Ambrose smirked.

"I get that you're the perfect son, and have the perfect family that lives in those wonderful sugar castles, but this is real life and you need to learn to stay within your boundaries," I snapped.

Ambrose chuckled. "Fiesty. So much anger in you, there has to be some underline reason why. Who hurt you this much to make you so damaged?"

He overstepped a line by one statement and the annoyance I felt towards him quickly turned into fury. I didn't know who he thought he was to ask such personal questions, and I had no idea why the sudden curiosity in my love life.

I curled my fingers into a fist, grounded my teeth together, and venomously glared at him. "What the hell is that supposed to mean?" I was ready to put him in his place.

A freaking grave!

"Guys!" Milo exclaimed, "Calm down, how will a PR relationship work if you guys are acting like immature teenagers?"

"I'm not doing it," Ambrose bitterly said.

"Me either! I rather eat dirt than have to date this pathetic lovesick loser," I insulted.

"Ditto," Ambrose muttered as he wandered down the hallway. "You know what, Davina?" he turned around and glared at me. "You just made an enemy, watch your back."

"Nah, I'll pass," I grinned. "I'm a sucker for surprises, so hit me with your best shot."

"You never make our job, easy do you, Davina?" Milo sighed heavily.

One thing I knew was I hated Ambrose Bright more than anyone else on this freaking planet.

Ambrose and Davina just keep bumping heads! I'm starting to think they're going to hate each other forever lol! ;) hope you guys enjoyed this chapter!!!

Please let me know your thoughts I really do love and appreciate it !!! ❤️❤️❤️love you guys!!
