LUST !
( chapter six )
THE FIRST THING SYDNEY DID this morning was rush to the toilet. She felt her stomach swirl and she was incredibly dizzy.
With a light groan, she wiped the puke off the side of her mouth and placed her hand over head--which was hot to the touch.
"Are you okay?" Her mother asked from the doorway, a look of concern clear on her face.
Sydney was quick to nod. "Yeah. I'm sure I just ate something bad."
Her mother let out a deep sigh. "Do you think you can pull through today? It's the college fair."
Going to the college fair was probably the thing she wanted to the least. Sydney tried to look up but the light from the hallway was far too bright. She covered her eyes with the back of her hand, managing a small smile. "Yeah. I'll be fine."
The woman nodded, but the frown remained on her lips as she walked back down the hall.
Sydney prayed that she simply only had the flu or something that would pass in a couple of days.
ONCE SYDNEY WAS FINALLY finished with the College Fair, she'd sworn she wouldn't give Ethan a single thought. And maybe, she wouldn't, but even with her best friend and her cousin making out on the sofa in front of her, he was all she could think about. Still.
Devi walked through the doors of the lounge, in a red blazer and a smug look on her face as she sat next to Sydney on the red couch. "Ethan and I just broke up. You can have him."
Sydney's brows knitted together, the statement shocked her, to say the least. "Excuse me?"
"No need to play dumb. It was obvious."
The brunette wanted to pretend she had no idea what she was talking about, but she knew exactly what Devi was saying. "What was obvious?"
Devi gave her a knowing look. "Everyone knows."
Now, Sydney was confused. "What are you talking about?"
"Dude. The closet? Ethan's party?"
Sydney rolled her eyes, letting out a light huff of exasperation. She was fed up with this false narrative that she and Ethan hooked up in his closet all those weeks ago. "Whatever. I'm tired of always talking about Ethan." She said blankly, mouth closed in a small frown as she stood up. She didn't want to always be thinking of Ethan either, but, here she was.
And as if things couldn't get worse, Ethan was walking right toward her.
She made the abrupt decision to attempt to play it off, she moved to the opposite side of the hall, clanking her heels against the floor as she headed toward her locker.
Once she made it there, she'd hoped Ethan would keep walking. But instead, he leaned against the one next to hers. "You don't look good."
You don't look good? Not only was Ethan the last person she wanted to see, that was the last thing she wanted to hear.
She spared him a glare, in which he was quick to apologize. He pointed to underneath his eyes, which Sydney only assumed to be a motioning toward the bags under her eyes. Sydney didn't owe him an explanation, yet for some reason, she still told him the reason. "I haven't been sleeping." She mumbled, continuing to search through her locker for an item that was nonexistent.
"I figured."
Sydney debated with herself on whether she should bring up Devi or not. It was awkward and she was lost in her thoughts, deciding whether to speak at all or not. "You and Devi broke up?"
The question escaped her lips with a small ounce of hope, and she immediately regretted that.
Ethan chuckled lightly. "Did she tell you that?"
She nodded. And once again, it was silent.
"I'm sorry about what I said."
Sydney tucked her bottom lip in between her teeth, holding her breath as she nodded once more.
"What's on your mind?" He wondered aloud, examining her features.
The brunette sighed. "My dad's making me go to his stupid business dinner tonight."
Ethan flashed a smile, and Sydney watched as his features morphed while a thought crossed his mind. "You want to piss him off?"
Sydney's brows furrowed, unknowing what he was hinting at. Until she did. She felt the corners of her lips curling upward. "You just broke up with Devi and you're already trying to make a move on me?"
Sydney couldn't believe what she was saying. Couldn't believe that she was happy to be speaking with her ex.
"Just for the night."
Sydney analyzed him for a moment. Searching for a reason not to. And surprising the both of them, she found herself agreeing. "Sure."
SYDNEY ANXIOUSLY AWAITED ETHAN'S arrival. She'd been stuck sitting at the dining table with fifteen other men in a god-awful dress her mother bought her.
She had given her father what he wanted by simply being there, and now he was motioning for her to smile.
And when Sydney checked her phone to view the time, her father attempted a chuckle. "You'll have to excuse my daughter."
It took every bone in Sydney's body to not roll her eyes in that moment. Instead, she just ignored him, not wanting an insult to slip out.
Thankfully, the doorbell rang and she was saved. With a smile, she excused herself from the table and went to the doorway.
She opened the door and on the opposite side, stood Ethan. For the first time in over two months, Sydney genuinely smiled at the sight of him. He was wearing a blue suit with a white t-shirt underneath and had a bouquet of flowers in hand.
A laugh slipped past Sydney's lips. "What the hell?"
A smile of Ethan's own made its way onto his face. "You didn't really specify what to wear, or... how convincing we were going to be."
She grabbed Ethan's hand and pulled him inside, closing the door behind him and passing past the dining room's entrance. Her father was furious, no doubt. He had has jaw clenched and his fist tightened around the fork in his hand. "We won't be long. We just have a project to finish up."
Sydney chuckled as she guided Ethan up the staircase and down the hallway to her bedroom. Ethan had been in her room dozens of times, but never the rest of her house. It was thoroughly modern, with each painting on the wall and gold accent, but Sydney's room was so opposite.
The walls were a light pink and she had posters still hung from middle school.
Sydney's laugh boomed and her smile was so wide, it hurt her ears. Once Ethan was inside, she closed the door and held her stomach, hoping to find a breath that wasn't there. "Did you see his face?"
Ethan didn't say anything, and Sydney couldn't read his face due to the tears blurring her vision.
"I think his face was turning red." her laugh continued, and the sound was everything Ethan wanted to hear in this lifetime. Sydney has different laughs based on scenario and emotion, and he knew them all. But this one was different. It was rare, but he would often hear it when the two of them were together. This one was his favorite.
Sydney Gilmore looked stunning when she was laughing. With the pink tint to her face and the tears pricking at the corners of her eyes; and the way her smile pushed up her cheeks and squinted her blue eyes.
Ethan wasn't quite sure what came over him, but he had never felt more in love with Sydney in this moment. He tossed his bouquet of flowers to the side and took just a few steps closer toward the girl; to where he was right in front of her.
He rested his hand on the side of her warm face and silenced her laugh with his lips.
Sydney didn't even question the contact. She'd been waiting for this kiss. She'd waited and waited for him to make her brain go fuzzy again. To make her heart beat out of it's chest and for her knees to go weak.
"Fucking finally," she smiled into the kiss, her hands going up to his neck.
Ethan returned the smile as chills went down Ethan's spine when Sydney's acrylics went into his hair, he places his free hand on her lower back; just above the curve of her ass.
The kiss the two shared was incredible. It said I miss you, I'm sorry, please love me again all in one breath without saying anything at all.
Sydney locked the door behind her and moved them away from the door and onto the bed, all without breaking the kiss.
"I want you so bad, Syd." Ethan breathed, pulling away from her just so he could take off his jacket.
Sydney raised an eyebrow, she was out of breath but she didn't care. "Yeah?"
She parted her legs, straddling his lap as her legs laid on either side of his, kissing him with more passion than ever.
The cold feeling of Ethan's rings gliding against the back of her thighs and up the bottom of her dress caused her to gasp into his mouth.
Their mouths moved against one another with such hunger, as if they'd been starved for years and years.
Sydney had honestly forgotten how to breathe. Although she was the one on top of Ethan, her bones felt weaker than ever. The way Ethan's finger twirled the hem of her panties around her finger and caressed her cheek with the other caused her to go weak.
"Take your shirt off." She gasped, already untucking the fabric from his pants. She wanted--needed to be closer to him.
"Yes ma'am." He smirked, his chocolate eyes looking lustfully into her blue ones.
He tossed it to the side and their lips were immediately connected once more. His tongue glided against her bottom lip as her thumb explored his face.
She'd always loved how the scar on his lips felt against her own, and now, he had another scar across the bridge of his nose. "I'm sorry for breaking your nose."
He mimicked her laugh. "And I'm sorry you broke your hand."
He pushed the fabric of her dress even further up her body, and squeezed her ass--
Knock.
The two paused for a moment, unsure of whether they actually heard a knock or not.
Knock.
Sydney was quick to stand up off of him, pulling the end of her dress back down and straightening her hair while Ethan tucked his shirt back in.
Sydney opened the door and smiled. "Hi, dad."
