@kpmoulton

So all of you have been talking about your beautifully magnificent lives, and I'm sitting here like, "Umm, if want to go anywhere besides school, my mom has to drive me, because I don't have a license. Or a job. I have school for that." So anyways, here it goes. Also, I like to talk. A lot. It's probably a problem.

1. I'm probably the youngest person here. School is my full-time job, I can't vote until the 2020 election (in the U.S.). In my family, I'm the middle child. By a whole 49 minutes that @catlover215 won't let me forget. Ever.

2. I'm literally a full-fledged fangirl. If someone even mentions Star Trek, Star Wars, anything Marvel related at all, or Harry Potter, I will find you. It's probably a problem. My friends all tell me that my love for Agents has passed just that, a mere interest. Apparently it's an obsession, and based on the amount of fanfiction I read (and write) I might have to confirm their unlikely theories, that I am, in fact, obsessed.

3. Music is life. I sing in my school choir (sopranos rule!) and have been a part of a musical theatre group for four years this month. This summer, we performed Disney's the Aristocats and it was so much fun! (Until one of the little kids threw up onstage during our final performance). I have always loved listening to music, and have recently discovered a guy that operates under the name Sleeping at Last. I recommend listening to his music if you ever get any spare time. But, I can only barely read music, and absolutely fail at playing the piano, and the only instrument I showed any musical prowess in was the trombone.

4. I absolutely hate stereotypes. Literally my whole life, I've been the quiet girl in the corner, absorbed in her book or schoolwork. And so the label-givers give me stickers declaring me a teacher's pet, a know-it-all, a prude, a nerd with absolutely no social life. As I've progress in life, I've been stereotyped to be a certain religion, and when I ask why they think I am that, they say, "Oh, but you look/act like a Mormon!" And that irritates me.

5. Going along with stereotypes, the phrase, "But you're a girl!" also irritates me. As someone that has rarely let gender standards get in the way of what I enjoy, this has personally affected me. I thoroughly enjoy reading Marvel comics, I have had plenty of boys (and girls) tell me that I can't read them because they are "for boys". It got so bad at one point last year that my best guy friend finally told this moron to go away because I could like whatever the heck I wanted to. Another incident was in P.E. (and seriously, they need to learn that P.E. and the Olympics are different events). I was talking to a couple of my girlfriends about how excited we were to play floor hockey, and this uneducated jerk walks up and tells me that I can't be a goalie because "You're a girl, and you'll be afraid of the puck. Let me be goalie instead, and then you'll be bowing at my feet when we win the tournament." I almost punched him, and probably would've if my friends hadn't been there. We ended up being on separate teams and we won the tournament. Karma at its finest.

6. When I'm not fangirling, reading, or listening to music, you can probably find me in Yearbook headquarters, in the gym, or in the field with a camera. I absolutely adore photography (and aren't too horrible at it, either), and at this stage in my life, I can see a career in photography, if the whole Starfleet Academy thing falls through. Last year, I was (unofficial) student editor, and head photographer of our school's yearbook. Often, I find myself writing poetry off of images, like a few of the contests. An image is also where my first poem, All in a Day, comes from. There definitely is a tie between imagery, and words.

7. I guess I've always been a good student. I could read when I was 3, and write by the time I was 4. Throughout elementary school I was bored often, and got in trouble several times for reading instead of paying attention. And then middle school rolled around. I was bumped up a year in math, which led to two years of being in class with kids older than me. The year I took 7th grade math, I was the only girl my age in there. With my two partners in crime, we breezed through that class, but not without getting our homework (and some other things) stolen. We did have a lot of fun though, and played a lot of card games, and broke a couple of chairs in the process. G.T. though, is literally what I look forward to every day. It's a social studies replacement for smart kids, but we aren't very bright sometimes. We used to wonder why it wasn't Advanced Social Studies, with the first letters put together. And then we spelled it out. But, we have a lot of fun, and every year we do this torturous project called NHD (National History Day). We compete first at a regional level, and then state, and then finally nationals. For the last two years, I've made it to the state level, and would really love to go again. This year, I joined Honors English. We have already been writing poetry, and I think I'm going to have a great time.

8. I love traveling. But my favorite place in the world is Cannon Beach, Oregon. It's so peaceful there, and so pretty. There are little candy shops and bookstores, and it rains a lot (I love rain!). Last time we went to Cannon Beach, we stayed in this massive house right on the beach, and you could smell the salt and see the water from your window. I cried when we left. It's a dream of mine to visit Italy.

9. I absolutely love to cook and bake. But, finding recipes is kind of hard because of this genetic autoimmune disorder called Celiac (Coeliac) Disease. It's not life-threatening, but it can lead to cancers. To put it simply, my intestines can't process gluten. Gluten is found in wheat, rye, and barley. So learning to cook without gluten is hard, and substitutes can be expensive. But my mom bakes a lot, and has been teaching me. I actually have been pretty successful in my cooking endeavors lately, and haven't lit anything on fire, or burnt anything.

10. I have two cats named Rosie and Reeces. We got them from the animal shelter when they were just four months old, and we have had them for 9 years as of September 1st of this year. Reeces is my beautiful calico kitty, she is really fat, and gets the honor of being my profile picture. I love animals of all shapes and sizes, especially cats, squirrels, and hedgehogs.

One of my proudest moments actually involves a cat. In the dead of winter two years ago, me and my sister rescued this little black cat that had been nicked by a car, and was lying in a bush, just waiting to freeze to death. I will never forget the look on my mom's face when my mild-mannered sister started dragging her down the street, while telling her all about this little cat she had found. She sat with that little cat, whom she christened Raven, for three hours in a freezing garage. I remember all three of us kids crying after the animal control lady turns to my sister, and says loudly, "If you want anything done, the only thing I can do is put it to sleep." I have never seen my mother kick someone off of her property so fast. Raven ended up at our local animal shelter, which is a no-kill shelter. We later learned that his back leg had to be amputated, and he had the cat version of pneumonia. If my sister hadn't held him, he would have frozen to death, her body heat kept him alive.

So that's me. Sorry, I probably rambled a lot. But I did warn you, I like talking.

Now for my nominations... (giggles evilly)
