Mother Knows Best (Rapunzel)
"You want to date him?" Lilia blinked in astonishment. "Why, Silver..."
He walked closer towards his son, taking a strand of his hair and twirling it around his fingers. "Look at you, as fragile as a flower..." He sighed. "Still a little sapling, just a sprout." He patted the top of Silver's head, though he had to stand on his toes to do it. "You know why we stay in this dorm!"
"I know, but—" Silver began, but was cut off by his father. "That's right! To keep you safe and sound, dear."
Lilia turned away, draping an arm over his face dramatically. "Guess I always knew this day was coming." He faked a sob. "Knew that soon you'd want to leave the nest!" He turned back around to face his son, suddenly wearing a charming smile. "Soon, but not yet."
"But—" Silver protested, but was quickly hushed. "Trust me, pet." Lilia's smile became more eerie. "Father knows best."
The fae put a hand over his chest, staring into his son's eyes. "Father knows best! Listen to your father! It's a scary world out there..."
He levitated off the ground, still speaking. "Father knows best! One way or another, something will go wrong, I swear~!"
"Ruffians! Thugs!" He raised his hands and wiggled his fingers for added dramatic effect. "Poison ivy, quicksand!" Fast as lightning, he appeared beside Silver, startling the poor boy. "Cannibals and snakes!" He showed off his own fangs for emphasis. "The plague!"
"No!" Silver gasped. "Yes!" Lilia responded, nodding.
"But—" His son didn't get to finish. "Also large bugs!" The fae continued. "Men with pointy teeth, and— stop, no more, you'll just upset me!" He draped his arm over his face again, acting like he was on the verge of tears.
"Father's right here." He perked up again as though nothing had happened. "Father will protect you!" He cooed at his son. "Darling, here's what I suggest~!"
Lilia's magic summoned several green flames, surrounding him like candles. "Skip the drama! Stay with papa!" He grinned. "Father knows best!"
"LILIA!" Silver finally burst out. He glared at the fae, who had a rather startled expression.
"I just wanted to tell you that I was dating Idia Shroud." He sighed in sheer exasperation over Lilia's theatrics. "Old man... why do you always have to make these things such a big deal?"
"My dear, you wound me." Lilia gave a mock sad expression. "I was only trying to explain that he is in no way shape or form suitable for my son!"
"Well," Silver crossed his arms. "I love him. Just accept it, please."
The senior sighed in resignation. "All right then." He smiled genuinely. "I love you, Silver."
His son's face softened. "..I love you too, old man."
