Chapter 11
The fact that one of my stepbrother kissed me was just unnerving that I didn't manage to sleep a wink last night.
As I sat down on the couch of the game room, I couldn't help but stare at the television screen at daze while holding the console on my hand, barely moving. There was another occupant in the room and from what I remember, this person was blabbering non-stop.
"Hey William? William! Willy!"
I snapped out, blinking a multiple time before turning my head to Faith who looked at me with a raised brow. He had paused the game when he notice that I wasn't even playing. I frowned.
"I just figure out that you shouldn't call me Willy. You sound like your calling after my dick." I grimaced and stood up from the couch.
"Hey! Whe're you going?"
"Anywhere." I shouted and practically run through the hallways, not letting Faith the chance of following me. I just want to be alone and wallow to my own self pity.
Why would Gideon kiss me? Is it for him to tease me? To make fun of me? or there was something else that's why he had to do that. Or is it out of confusion or stirr in the moment? Can you all just give me a fucking advice or whatever, just help me clear these unknown feelings I am having.
I laid down on my bed after locking my room. I don't want to see any of my brother's for now, it'll just be a little awkward to.
My phone buzzed off from my pockets and I went to fetch it. Zeke, one of my teammate was calling me. I quickly pressed the green button and sat up straight in the bed.
"Hello?"
"William! Oh my god! You have to come to the school as in now!" When I hear him panic, I quickly jumped off the bed, slipping some random shoes since I was hurrying myself.
"What? What's wrong?"
"Its about Kerry! The principal wants to expell him! The rest of the team are putting up some fight, we're ready to rally in front of the administration building!"
"What?! How the hell would the principal expell our team captain? Is he mad!?" I yelled as I hurried down the staircase.
"I'll tell you once you get here." Before I could answer, Zeke had already hanged up on me. I cursed to myself as I watched his number and smug face on my phone screen before it went off.
'What the heck Kerry? What did you do this time?'
As I was racing down the staircase, Gideon was there standing by the steps talking to Shaw and Kris. When all three of them heared fast steps on the stairs, they looked up at me. I paid them no mind and just ignore them as I carefully prayed to myself to not make any awkward movements. But I guess luck wasn't on my side.
My foot happen to step on some loose shoelace, making me trip and practically slid down the grandstaircase. My body bounce up and down from the flight of stairs. When I hit the posh granite floors of the ground floor was I able to collect myself. Both of my hands immediately covered my face from shame.
'Oh my gosh! How embarrassing!'
Imagining myself, I can't help but scold myself. I look like a pathetic fool right in front of my stepbrothers. In my age, who would trip on the staircase like that?
'Oh yeah... ME."
"William! Are you alright?" Shaw came over.
I quickly stood up from the floor, wincing a little bit from the pain on my left ankle but held it in secretly. I stopped Shaw from helping me and I quickly ran through the doors.
"Hey William!"
"William where are you going?!" Kris and Gideon called but I ignored them.
"Talk to you later!" I yelled back as I ran to the gate. My ankle hurts but the thought of Kerry being expelled in our team fueled my desire to go to school and find out what really happened.
The thought of loosing another person like Kerry who always reminds me to not give up, I just can't handle it. I decided to quit sports back when I was thirteen because of my brother, whom I do not know his whereabouts now, decided to ditch and left us. Then, Kerry was one of my friend who encouraged me to not loose hope, that I would still do good without the guidance of my brother.
'Don't give up William. You have a brighter future up ahead. Don't worry, I'll never leave you, I'll be your brother figure.'
When he said those words, it was like an angel had dropped down on earth. If Kerry had been bald that time, I would've mistook him for some monk, giving words of wisdom. And without a hint of doubt, I took his hand and smiled.
And from then on, Kerry has been a brother to me. Although not related, we were enseparable. And right now, all I could think off was coming to his aide right now.
I called a taxi and quickly told the driver to step on the wheels to the address of our schoool. Although far and would cost me a couple of dollar bills, I didn't mind. As long as I can see my friend.
The school was somewhat quiet. But when I run along to the administration building, the whole tennis club members were all there standing in front with banners, cards and a marching band.
'This look like a battle march for a much awaited war between two enemies.' I frown at my thoughts.
I saw Zeke in the crowd and pushed my way through the crowd of people. I grabbed his shoulder and make him look at me.
"What the hell happened here?!" I shouted at him.
"Huh?!" He shouted back since the shout of our members hinders us from hearing each other.
I hold on to Zeke's arm and pointed to the other direction with my chin, indicating him to come with me and talk.
****
"Kerry involved himself to a small fight and happen to broke some bones. And the guy that Kerry injured happens to be the school directors son. The guy was okay and is now being treated in the hospital. Kerry was just trying to help some girl from being gangraped by that Director's evil son."
"That dude deserved Kerry's punch!" I hissed as my hands tightened.
"The two sides are currently talking in the office. I hope the director changes his mind." Zeke solemnly mummbled. I looked at him with pity.
...
For the whole duration of time, all of the member's of the tennis club rallied in front of the administration building. After Zeke and I talked, I also joined them. I even held one of the drums and started a chant with the guys.
Later on, Kerry's family emerged out of the building and from the looks of it, it was not a good talk. The whole team went back to the club room. We all sat down on the floor and watch as Kerry's father sat down at the offered chair.
"Guys, thank you for believing in Kerry and fighting for him. He really appreciates it." Kerry's father started. But his face had already sunk before he could add.
"But me and my wife have decided to let Kerry transfer to another school. Its the only thing we could do."
"What?!" I yelled and stood up. "Kerry was just doing the right thing! Just because he's the director of this school he can do anything?!"
"I'm sorry William. It has been decided with me and my wife. We just wants what's best for our son."
"The best thing that your looking for is right here! his teammates, his club, his friends and family. What more can you ask for?!" I retorted to Kerry's father who seemed so shock from me yelling back at him.
"I'm so sorry William, and to all of you guys. But Kerry had also made his decision."
'No... no...no...no!'
I just can't stay here and listen to these people who call themselves as Kerry's parents. I want to hear it directly from Kerry's mouth!
Without any doubt. I marched out of the club room and hauled a taxi when I got to the gates. I told the driver the address and he quickly drove there.
The car stopped at Kerry's small but modest house. I straightened my clothes and walk up to a small flight of stairs before knocking on their door and repeatedly pressing on their doorbell. I heared Kerry's voice from the other side with the sound of door unlocking.
His eyes went wide when he saw me. He immediately closed the door but I held it with my left hand.
"Kerry. We can still persuade that director not to expell you. What you did was right, everyone can see that. So please, I'm begging you, don't leave us."
"I'm sorry William, what's done is done. I need to make a decision fast before my family could get to anymore trouble." He said and closed the door. He didn't even manage to apologize when my hand got stuck when he closed it.
"Motherfucking! Shiiiiiittt...!!" A manly scream resonated from my lungs out to my mouth.
He just opened it to let my hand free and closed it back without a word. So I cursed outside his door, clutching my swollen hand.
'Fuck you Kerry! I humilliated myself in front of my brothers because I was so adamant on coming to your aid. I trip on the stairs and hurt my ankle. And now, you even slam the door right in front of me while my hand was still there! And now, I have no money to pay for a fucking taxi to go home and wallow to my own self pity! Just great!'
And to make things worse! A fucking rain just fell out from the sky!
