Kakeru's PoV

Sakura was acting odd throughout the entire course of dinner. Being the suspicious person I am, I followed her upstairs shortly after she's finished her meal.

I heard sounds of clicking coming from Shiki's room. I opened the door quietly, there she was, standing in front of his laptop, so absorbed in something that she didn't realize me coming in.

"What're you doing in here?" I ask in a stern voice. Her head whipped around, showing her slightly red eyes. Why was she crying?

She let out a little yelp, backing herself up against the wall before I even pinned her against it.

"What were you looking through?" I ask again, my gaze glaring intently into hers.

"I-I was just interested in...what was on his laptop." She lied, I clearly told.

I pressed onto her harder, "What. Were. You looking through?"

She swallowed hard, "I was just...I needed to know more about myself before I'm willing to die."

"Why should we believe that?"

I didn't need to glance over my shoulder to know that it was Satoru leaning against the door frame. Apart from me, he was the sharpest out of all of us.

"You don't need to." Sakura said, her gaze turning harsh.

"What do you mean by 'know more about yourself'?" Satoru walked into the room, shutting the door behind him. I back away from pinning her on the wall.

"The whole reason why I asked for ten days." She finally said, probably thinking that she had no choice since we were pressing so hard.

I frowned at her, she wasn't making much sense so far.

"That is my personal business." She added, not having any hints of adding anything.

"That you have to spill since you were looking through Shiki's laptop." Satoru argued back calmly, "I saw this as the future when you handed me a plate."

She glared right back, obviously not buying it.

"You know that we can just toast you right here, right now." I threatened, even though I'm not actually going to do it. "So answer the question."

Clearly she was taken aback, "I have no memories of my past."

She said simply, but it was enough.

Satoru and I shared a quick glance.

I see, she expected to find more of her past in our database.

"Ever heard of permanent records?" Satoru says in a lazy voice, clearly still not believing her story.

She rolled her eyes, "Checked. Didn't even list my biological parents' names."

"You don't know your parents?" I ask. None of us bothered to look into her ancestries, who knows if there actually are no information.

Sakura shook her head, while taking glances at the laptop, still.

Without a word, I bent down, and browsed the webpage. There's got to be something in here.

"Kakeru...." Satoru sighed as he stood in front of the door, blocking Sakura's only exit. In case she wants to run out, or that someone might come in. Satoru does not believe in modern technology, he probably doesn't even know how to use a TV remote, let alone a laptop.

Satoru's PoV

The whole time Kakeru was using the...computer...thingy, Sachiko was staring intently at the screen, not showing any signs of paying attention to her surroundings.

"Okay...this is all I've got." Kakeru finally says after a few minutes, "your family tree...but it's only the first generation. Let's see...you have two half siblings, both older than you by five and four years, and a twin brother, older than you by one and a half minute. Therefore you are the youngest."

He frowned as he rolled the white thingy in between the...clicky thing....

"You know what..." he says distantly, "there really is no info on your parents."

"Strange. The fate database lists all details of all family members." I add in, "even relatives that basically have no blood relations with you since it's been so many generations, not to say straight down parents."

"See?" Sachiko says in a quiet voice, "I'm...blank. And since now that I don't have a future, I at least need to acknowledge my past."

Kakeru frowned even more. Well...there is only one way where the data doesn't have info...it's that the Demon King has locked it away. But why would he do that? I'm sure those thoughts are tumbling in Kakeru's head right now.

After a minute of silence, Sachiko let out a sigh, "It's fine. I'll just go now."

I stepped aside, and she went out the door, into her own room.

Kakeru still had a hand under his chin was he stared into the device. He seemed deep in thought, probably going over and over again on how it doesn't make sense.

"So...what now?" I ask, walking to him.

He sighed, closing his eyes, "We need to help her."

"Eh?" I blurt out, slightly dumbfounded. Since when did Kakeru care about a mere human's wish? Oh right, since Takara. She really has changed him a lot.

"I don't know..." he says, standing up and facing me, "I just feel this incredible bond to her for no reason, and it's getting stronger as the days pass."

I raised an eyebrow at his statement, "you're not...?"

He frowned at my suggestion, "of course I don't like her romantically, that's different."

"Who knows if you're the cheaty type?" I tease a bit before going back down to business.

"So...you're gonna...help her how?"

"Nope, not just me." He states, patting me on the shoulder as he walked past me.

How the hell did I get myself dragged into this?!

"Find some way to cheer her up, first." He says before going out of the room. I followed out after, and shut the door to my room behind my back.

Seiji's PoV

"So, looks like you were right." Akane says, with a faint smile.

Both of us were standing on a roof top of a building, staring down at the street. The wind blew in our hair.

Akane is a demon, and I'm an angel.

"I saw her too, at the demon house." She continues, "Her looks haven't changed at all, that's how I recognized her right away, like how you did."

My eyebrows knitted closer together to a frown as I said, "she knows too much already. It's way too dangerous."

"I don't think they can hunt her down now, though." Akane says, lifting her head up to gaze at the sky. I turn my gaze to her, "how so?"

"All these years," she says, smiling calmly, "they've never found trace of Subaru, not even we ever did. He's good."

I closed my eyes, "Yes. He may be the strongest of all. But Sachiko...."

"Of course, she lacks a ton of training." Akane says, directing her gaze at me in a serious manner, "but very soon she'll catch up, it's her natural talent that no one can stop. Not even the demon king."

"...you're right." I turn and face her, "I don't know what her situation is right now, but I think it's about time she realizes."

Akane nods her head in agreement, "I'll do what I can."

"Then...see you." I depart, spreading out my wings and flew to the direction of the studio. While she took off as well.

Sachiko's PoV

[Four Days]

I let out a sigh as I closed my bedroom door behind me. Another morning, another normal day.

I've only got like, four hours of sleep. I dunno, it kinda left me thinking. On how Kakeru said he'll help.

"Mornin'" I say as I run my fingers through my hair, hoping to comb it a little. I sit down at my usual seat around the dining table as Meguru, as usual, served breakfast.

"Good morning." Meguru greeted back as he set down my plate in front of me. It was bacon and eggs, a typical breakfast that I love.

"Say, Sachiko?" I look up to whomever just called to me, interrupting me and the food's time.

"Do you wanna maybe...go out for dinner later on today?" Satoru says, not unkindly. He was practically asking me on a dinner date.

"Uh...sure." I say, rather emotionlessly. It's not that I'm acting gloomy, it's just really hard to cheer up right now.

"Cool. I'll meet you under the Tokyo Tower at six thirty." He says, just as he finishes his breakfast.

On my way to work, I walked while deep in thought.

"Sachiko?" Meguru's voice beside me suddenly reminded me that he was there.

"Y-Yes?" I stutter unconsciously.

"I know it's getting harder for you, and I'm not the best consoler...but think of it as fate...and that a new life will be born after you." The way he smiled and the ray of hope and kindness in his eyes made me thought for an instant that he was actually a very compassionate being. Well I can't exactly say person.

But for some reason, deep inside me, it was always hard for me to trust completely.

"Thank you Meguru." I smiled for the first time today, "that was actually helpful."

"Hmm Sachiko? Not that I'm suggesting it but...haven't you ever thought of running away?" his sudden question caught me off guard for a second.

We walked for half a block in silence while I was thinking.

"No." I say in all honesty, "there's no point. Even to the edge of the world, no one can escape their destined death. I'm not trying to avoid my ending. I just wanted to extend it, even for just a little. I hoped it was worth it."

"Do you mind...if I ask what your reason was?"

The air around us was getting heavier by the second we are talking.

What's the matter? Kakeru and Satoru already knows, it's just time before the entire team does, anyway.

"I have no memories of my past." I repeated to him, "I've never cared about it this deeply before since I thought the present and future were more important. But now that I don't have a future, I really want to dig up my past. Y'know, so I can RIP."

"Oh...." The conversation ended at that.

"What up, humans~?" I blurt out as soon as I enter the office.

Everyone looked at me weirdly.

"What is wrong with you..?" Minato pretended to face palm as he was just hiding a smile.

Until lunch time, nothing special happened. After my lunch, when I was on my way back to the office...

I stopped short in my tracks when I spot a certain red head standing at the other end of the corridor, peeking through behind a wall around a corner.

Quietly, I step into an angle to see what Mi was looking at.

There, I see none other than Chiaki. Who was smiling and laughing with a female employee of the Chess Monthly.

He was holding a neatly wrapped and decorated gift bag, probably from the employee. Ara, he's gonna throw it out soon.

After about another half a minute, Chiaki purposely glanced up at the clock, "oh look at the time. Time sure flies when you're having fun, eh?"

His wink at her almost made me believe him. She giggled and a blush appeared on her cheeks.

"I'll see you around, Chiaki!" she waved happily before leaving.

And as soon as she does, Chiaki's smile drops. With the coldest eyes I've even ever see him have, he tossed the gift right into the trash without second thought.

As he turned this way, Mi flashed away. One of her vampire abilities.

"Well, well, well."

I look up to Chiaki, who was leaning against the wall. I walked up to him.

"Look who was eavesdropping again." He said in a quiet voice

"Chiaki." I say, peering at his face, "you do know that I know all about your past, right?"

All of a sudden, my back touched against the wall. He had an arm pushed onto the wall by my head, but he wasn't fully trapping me since his other arm was in his pants pocket.

"Don't go saying anything." He says by my ear. But he didn't need to tell me. I know he's badly broken right now.

"As always, you have my word." I say calmly as I stare back into his eyes. Yup, this isn't the first or second time he's said that.

Almost a different person, as soon as he pulled away, his innocent smile came back up. "Well, jana."

After he left, I say without turning around: "Mi, I know you're there."
