Sachiko's PoV
A man in his late twenties open the door and greeted us with a friendly smile. The famous author, Kotonami Suzu. That's his pen name anyways. His light brown hair shone in the sunlight a bit as he opened the door, blue eyes made contact with my own.
"Good morning, Mr. Kotonami." I bowed, "we're editors from Seasonelle magazine, we have an interview scheduled at ten thirty am?"
"Yes. Come on in." he stepped aside, "oh and...please call me Akaru. My real name is Akaru Light."
"Akaru, is there someone—" someone came rushing downstairs, she stopped in her tracks as she saw Minato and I just coming in.
"Oh hey." She greeted with a sweet smile, "You must be the editors! I'm Akira Light. Nice to meet you!"
"This is my sister, she's here for a visit during her vacation." Akaru introduced briefly.
After introductions, we started our interview. I set the recorder on the coffee table as we talked in the living room.
"During your speech for The Nobel Prize in Literature, what was..."
He had many huge accomplishments on his books, there were lots to say. An hour has passed, I really like how enthusiastically Mr. Light is talking, but he coughs once in a while. Probably from all the talking.
"Here, have some tea." Almost just on cue, Akira set a tray of tea on the coffee table. I wish I had a considerate sibling like her.... Sigh. Is it weird that you can barely make out a thing about your childhood? I mean sure it was a dozen years ago but still, isn't it weird that I can't even remember how my parents looked like?
"So, Sachiko, to that kind of question, I..." he caught back my attention as I continue to take notes. I will need to write an article about him. Satoru didn't occur to my thoughts until I saw him flash by the windows of the living room, shooting me one of his nasty smirks for who knows whatever reason.
"Thank you so much Akaru for your time." I concluded with a smile.

It was at lunch time by when we finished. I told Minato to drop me off near Tsubasa's filming studio. He went back to the office first while I'll have my ride.
"Where are you going?" I hear Satoru's confused voice behind me as I go up a flight of stairs. I ignored him. I crack open the door, just in time to see the director saying: "cut! Nice job, everyone. Take twenty for a quick lunch."
The scene stopped right where Tsubasa was doing a cool pose. He stepped down. And then spot me. I pushed Satoru back, whispering: "you better stay outside." While closing the door behind me. I can sense that he knows I'm right. An angel would be able to see through his barrier. Then Tsubasa will get question-y.
"Saki! You're here." He and I caught up a little bit while walking to his change room.
Just as we got there, though. The door opened first.
A man with dark blue hair came out: "Hey Tsubasa—"
He stopped dead for some reason when he saw me.
"Seiji? Is everything alright?" Tsubasa asked, clearly also confused. What? Do I even know this man? I narrow my eyes at him.
Nothing.
Why isn't my automatic mind telling me anything about this guy? I tried again.
Still nothing. Not even his name.
"Can...I help you..?" I ask slowly. Not knowing the deal of this guy.
"Sachiko...." His whisper was so low, I don't think Tsubasa picked up on it. But I did, for some reason. I heard him clearly.
"Um...Saki, this is Seiji, my manager." Tsubasa pushed open his dressing room door. Ushering the two of us in. Oh yeah, he's spoken of him before, but I've never actually met his manager. Who is also an angel.
"Now, did you wanna talk to Rein?" Tsubasa got it in one.
"Yeah...I can't contact him since he's in the angel realm all the time."
She knows that much already? I heard a faint thought. It was Seiji's. He seems to know me. Well fair enough, it's weird for a human like me to know so much about angels.
"Here. The call has ten minutes before it automatically cuts off. Just for protection of the angel realm." Tsubasa hands me his phone. I don't know how his can connect but it does. I'm no techie, I'm no woman of science, I have no idea how.
Both of them left the room for their lunch, since they only have less than twenty minutes.
"Ello?" Rein's familiar voice rang at the other end.
"Hey Rein!" I greeted cheerfully first.
"Saki! It's ye! How 'ya been doin'?" his familiar accent flows.
Not so great, actually, I'm gonna be toast in ten days. Wait no, nine.
"Great! Actually I asked Tsubasa so I can phone you. I have a question." I stopped beating around the bush and went to the point.
"Yea?" he asked indifferently. He probably wasn't suspecting my question.
"Do you happen to know someone named Haruhito Amano?" I came out. To Tsubasa's stories, he always said that angels and demons hate each other beyond description. Like, if-i-see-you-ever-again-I-will-smash-your-skull hate.
"..." the other end was silent for what seems like minutes. I gave him some time to wrap things up.
"...Yes, actually." He finally said. Which only urged me to ask more:
"And he used to be an angel but got punished to be a demon?" I asked. Damn me with my automatic mind, sure. But I get all those information without a cost, why not?
"Yea. He made a mistake as an angel, so he had to retrieve ten thousand souls in order to become an angel again...he was me best friend and work partner." Rein said quietly.
"Thanks."
"Fer what? And actually, how'd ye know?" he asked, his voice coming back up from the sob story.
"No particular reason....." I don't think I can tell them that I'm a toast candidate yet. And I'm glad that Rein isn't here in person, to be honest. He has a strong sense of smell for these things.
"But ye have gotta got that name frem somewhere, din'tcha?"
I didn't have time to say anything back as continuous beeping sounds rang from the phone. It's been ten minutes. The call was cut off.
"Thanks." I handed Tsubasa back his phone when he came back from his quick sandwich of a lunch.
After he went back for shots of modeling.
"Sachiko."
"Whoa!" Seiji's sudden voice startled me as I turned around to face him. "Yes?"
"Sorry this is random but...do you happen to know someone named Sayuri Tamika?"
My brain circled. Nope.
"No." I shook my head in all honesty, "why?"
"Um...nothing in particular...." He easily brushed it off. "So...I guess I'll see you?"
"Yeah. Nice meeting ya, Sei." I smiled back. He flinched at the way I called his name. I dunno, it just came out as natural as if I'd been calling him that for years.
I stepped out of the building, revealing Satoru's bored face.
"There you finally are." He sighed. Lazybones, it's been at most thirty minutes.
"Fly me back to the office, couldya? I need my lunch."
~~
"Chop chop, Sachiko! An article won't write itself up!" Akiyoshi roared almost as soon as I sat down in front of my desk after a quick sandwich of a lunch.
As I just finished the first paragraph of my article on Kotonami Suzu, that is his pen name, we hear the office door open. A visitor.
"Excuse me...is this the Seasonelle office?" a female voice asked. I spun from my chair to a woman with blood red hair, chest-length. She was wearing a dark green hoodie and black flares, which seemed a bit inappropriate in the office. She adjusted her dark brown messenger bag across her shoulders, it seemed heavy. Newest brand camera, a notepad, two pens, and a bottle of iced red tea. Ah. A tea-lover? Her turquoise eyes looked around unsurely as she rocked on her dark blue converses. Well then, who is she?
Mi Hayashi. My mind echoed. And? .... Nothing more. So...is she human or what??
...
"Yes. And you are?" Akiyoshi responded while I try to find out her identity.
"Mi Hayashi." Was all she said. She seem to be one of few emotions.
"Oh!" he stood up, "you must be the photographer."
She nodded, still rocking nervously on her heels.
"Team, this is Mi Hayashi. She's the new photographer of Seasonelle. She will be photographing for your issue this month, Shusei." Akiyoshi introduced
"Hi! I'm Shusei Hayakawa. It's nice to be working with you!" Shusei flashed one of his brightest smiles.
"Likewise." She says simply, then took that bottle of red tea out of her bag, and took a few gulps.
"Yes, yes. Now, would you mind going with Shusei? He has work out right now." Akiyoshi asked as he got back to his desk.
~~
After work, Satoru flew me back to the demon house since I was too tired that day to walk. And since there's a free lift walkin' around, why not?
"You go on do whatever it is humans need to do." Satoru waved off, "I have my things to do."
In other words, you have a date. I thought. It came outta nowhere but I know it.
"Meguru? Preparing dinner?" I ask casually as I set down my purse. Meguru was working in the kitchen. Juggling three burning stoves, cutting vegetables and baking dessert. He could be one of those perfect housewives on TV.
"Oh Sachiko. Yeah, those guys eat a lot after a day of work." He answered as he put the lid on the stainless steel pot, which was boiling soup.
"Work?" I decided he was the easiest to get information out of, maybe some of them could help me.
"Yeah...they're toasting missions." Meguru says sadly. Why? He's a demon too, he's bound to do these things sooner or later anyways. He can't stay in-training forever.
"So...tell me, Meguru." I start to ask, "how does this 'toast' thing process?"
"Um...I really shouldn't be talking about this...." He hesitates, but eventually gives in to my innocent face, "Shiki mind controls the candidate, first, confirming that they're the ones who are destined to be toast at the time; then, Satoru uses his power to foresee what kind of death the candidate ends in; Kakeru separates the soul from the body, and last Haruhito brings the soul to heaven. The angels are responsible for reincarnating the souls into new bodies."
Perfect.
"Oh wow. It sounds kinda complicated." I leaned against the counter as I watched Meguru flip the vegetables with a spatula.
"Well yeah...the process is difficult, that's why every member of a team needs to be well-trained demons." He said again. Well-trained.... Is there some sort of test for this? Just as I was going to ask again, the front door opened, revealing the whole team except Satoru.
"Whoa I'm hungry! Meggy, what's for dinner tonight?" Haruhito's cheerful voice rang out first.
I start setting up the table, to avoid suspiciousness of why I was at the kitchen.
"Kakeru!" Takara came running downstairs, "sorry, I had some work."
"No problem. Had a hard day?" Kakeru ruffled her hair lightly. Kakeru hated PDA, but I guess he really cares for Takara like precious. Even though she's grinning like an idiot right now. I heard her unguarded thinking: as long as he's sweet at times like these, I don't mind him being hard on me at work. What at work? Do they work together? But that makes no sense Takara is human—unless Kakeru was going undercover at Takara's office....
"You two work together?" I blurted the question out before thinking.
"Yup! Kakeru had to go undercover when Takara was supposed to be toast—" Haruhito blubbered, and said all that before Kakeru shut him up with a menacing glare.
Takara was a toast candidate? Then how come she's still well alive, standing right here?
Before I could ask, though, someone knocked on the door, just lightly.
"Crap! I forgot she was coming!" Kakeru quickly opened the door to the front closet. I looked at him weirdly as he held it open and stared at me: "get in there and hide, now!"
I was pushed into the closet by whoever and Kakeru slammed the closet room door in my back.
I heard the front door open.
"Hi. We were expecting you." Kakeru greeted.
I crack the closet door just a tiny bit open while I was crouching down in the dark to see Satoru holding the door open for a girl, whom I can't see since her back was on me. Her hood was on so I only see her back.
"Hey, long time no see, Kakeru." She greeted. She sounds familiar.... As in, I-have-just-met-today familiar.
"Yeah, it's been a while." Kakeru smiled back, "it's nice to finally work with you again."
"Likewise." She says simply. Then...took out a bottle of red tea....
She turned around. Oh my god. Why is everyone around me paranormal lately?
Mi Hayashi.
I heard my mind reintroduce since apparently it got extra information. Shock flowed through me at its next word:
