29' An Unblinking Death

Wanda and Eve were helping Hayley prepare for giving birth. "That's it, inhale and release." Eve told her, "I guess this means no epidural, huh? You sure I can't do this thing in, say, a hospital, the place with the doctors and the drugs?" Hayley asked making Wanda laugh. "It can't hurt that bad right?" she asked looking at Hayley and Eve.

"Honey, the werewolves have been having babies out here since before you were born. Stop worrying." Eve told Hayley, "Okay. Then what, Eve? I don't even know what it's like to have a mother, let alone be one." the pregnant wolf asked a bit worried.

"Trust me, when the time comes, you'll know exactly what to do." Eve told her, "Yeah, you're mama bear instincts will kick in." Wanda said.

"I hope so. As fun as it is to image Klaus changing dirty diapers, I'm pretty sure that I'll be doing this alone." Hayley said, "I doubt that." Eve said.

Elijah and Kol appeared in the doorway, Wanda smiled at Kol. "Pardon the interruption. I wonder if I might have a quick word with the conspirators of a supposed uprising." Elijah said looking at Hayley.

The two walk away and Wanda walks with Kol, "Wanda" he suddenly said, "Mhm" Wanda replied. "Are you alright? Every night I wake up with a headache and I'm panting?" Kol suddenly says, Wanda freezes and Kol notices.

"What's wrong, my love?" he asks now worried, Wanda sighs knowing she has to tell him. "I've been having nightmares." she reveals, Kol stops walking and turns to face her "About what?" he asks. "You dying and my friends too." Wanda says as she recalls watching Sam and most of her team disappearing.

Kol frowns at her, "And you think it's your fault." he said, "Yeah, in every dream it's like I'm either too late or too weak and it all sums up to one name." Wanda says. Kol cups her cheek looking into her eyes, "Your not loosing me, love. You're stuck with me whether you like it or not." he softly said, "I'm terrified" Wanda finally said.

Kol saw a tear fall from her eye, he pulled her to him wrapping his arms around. A man on a motorbike arrives making Wanda and Kol pull apart.

"Which one of you is in charge?" The man questioned, "Who's asking?" Jackson said, Elijah noticed something off and tackled the man off of the motorbike just as it exploded. Kol threw himself on top of Wanda shielding her.

Kol gets up and helps Wanda stand, he checks for an injuries on her. "I'm fine Kol" she tells him, but Wanda starts looking around for Hayley.

She saw the wolf tending to a hurt child. The two walk over to Hayley and Elijah, "Wolfsbane" he said examining a shirt that was burning a man.

"It must have been in the gas tank. You're the fastest. Take him, anyone else who can't walk on their own. Kol you too." Hayley said, the Original groaned Wanda sent him a look and the vampire was gone in a flash to help around.

Hayley and Wanda walk over to where Oliver is helping a werewolf who is impaled with a tree branch. He pulls it out as Hayley yells.

"Oh god, press here" she says putting Eve's hands on the wound, "Give me your shirt" she says to Oliver as she makes it into a tourniquet. "Now! it's okay." Hayley says.

"How'd you learn how to do that?" Eve asked impressed, "You get a hell of an education when you leave home at 13. That should slow the bleeding, at least until the healing kicks in." Hayley replied. "Vampires. They don't even have the guts to do their own dirty work themselves. I mean, why bother when you can just compel some poor son-of-a-bitch to do it for you? I say we hit them back! Hard." Oliver says angry.

"Stay here, Oliver. I need you to look after everyone until I get back." Hayley tells him. "Wait where are you going Hayley?" Wanda asked, "If this was vampires, I'm pretty sure that I can guess who gave the order. I'm gonna go find Marcel." Hayley said as she breaks a tree branch into a stake.

"I'll go with you." Wanda offered, "No, I need you stay here and watch the pack" Hayley said, Wanda sighed and nodded.

Hayley left and Wanda helped tend to the injured.

Wanda walks over to where Jackson, Kol, and Elijah are standing. "Thanks for your help, Wanda." Jackson said as he smiled at the girl. "It's no problem." she replied, though Kol was glaring daggers into Jacksons skull.

"It's a good thing that bomb went off where it did. Could've been a lot worse. We all could've got killed." the werewolf said, Elijah's eyes widened in panic as he took in his words.

"Unless... Get everyone out of here now!" he shouts just as several explosions go off, Wanda felt a large glass plunge into her thigh making her scream, but she watched as another explosion went off and she created a barrier around the kids protecting them from damage.

An explosion went off right behind her and she was flown into a tree hitting her back. "Wanda!" Kol shouted as he saw the bomb go off. He ran over to her and saw her hand surrounded with her energy webs, he looked and saw as she kept the barrier around the kids even after she was hit.

Wanda groans in pain and Kol panics as he sees the glass in her leg, he looks back at her "How does your hair still mange to look perfect in an explosion." he said, "Really? That's what you-AH" she screamed as Kol ripped the glass out her thigh while pressing his hand against the wound.

He bit into his wrist and offered it to her, she happily drank the blood and felt the pain slowly fade. "That was cruel." Wanda said, "Had to distract you someway, but your hair does look lovely, darling." Kol grinned, "Ha ha ha" Wanda faked amusement.

They both stood but Wanda stood a bit wobblier, "Help! Somebody help! Okay. Hold on. Hold on, Eve." Oliver shouted as he was kneeled before the RV where Eve was under.

Wanda surrounded the car in her magic lifting it throwing it away from them. Oliver sent her a grateful nod.

She started to feel exhausted and collapsed into Kol's arms.

Wanda awakes and is on a bed, gets up and groans "Woah there, don't get up too fast you'll hurt yourself." Kol said as he set down his book he was reading.

"Did I pass out?" Wanda asked, "Yes, I can imagine you overworked yourself or it had to do with the fact that you were blown into a tree." Kol replied, Wanda smiled.

"Hayley back yet?" she asked, "Don't know, let's go check." he said as he got up and slipped his arm around Wanda's waist helping her up, "I'm perfectly capable of walking." she said annoyed, "Oh I know" Kol smirked.

They walked outside where Oliver was shouting, Elijah looked tired and Hayley appeared, "Oh god, Wanda are you ok?" the wolf asked as she looked at her, "Yeah fine now." Wanda waved it off.

"What's going on? What is he doing?" Hayley asked confused as to why Oliver was shouting, "He's making a move for power in the wake of tragedy. He's not alone. There was another attack after you left." Elijah answered.

"What?" Hayley shouted, she runs into the shack. Wanda frowns knowing she's going to see Eve's dead body, "I'll see you tomorrow" Wanda said as she pecked Kol's cheek and went after Hayley. She found her crying as she placed a kiss onto her hand.

Wanda hugged Hayley comforting her.

The next day Hayley and Wanda make their way to Rousseau's where the three Mikaelson brothers are, Hayley sat herself between Elijah and Klaus as Wanda sat next to Kol.

"I will warn you, Hayley, Niklaus is in a spectacularly foul mood today." Elijah said as Kol laughed, "Sod off" Klaus said. "What's the deal with these moonlight rings? Oliver's trying to set a revolution every five seconds, people are scared, angry, and frankly, I'm tired of stalling." Hayley asked.

"It's a day of peace, Hayley. Try and enjoy it. And, in the meantime, with all manner of unknown enemies conspiring against our family, you and Wanda will move back in with us." Klaus said.

"Awesome! Then, we can do that thing where you lock me in the tower, I escape, there's drama, and then you two both realize I'm very capable of looking after myself." Hayley said sarcastically.

"The rings are in progress. I will live up to my word. We will find and punish whoever launched the attack on the bayou, and you will return to the compound for your own safety! And Wanda will return so Kol can stop whining like a kicked puppy." Klaus said making Kol glare at him and Wanda snicker.

The hybrid grabbed the bottle of scotch "But, right now, I'm gonna finish this bottle, and the next, in the hopes of drowning the demon who has chosen today to haunt me. Cheers, Mikael. Impeccable, Freudian timing." he said making Elijah and Kol grow serious at the mention of their father.

"Elaborate" Elijah demands, Hayley and Wanda look worried at the three siblings. "You've dreamt of Mikael?" Kol asked, since he's been too.

"Go ahead, have a good laugh." Klaus said, "I can assure you there is no piece of this that I find even remotely amusing, Niklaus. Especially considering I've been dreaming of him, too." Elijah said the two brothers looked at Kol.

"If you must know, yes, I've seen him in dreams." Kol said, "If you two are also seeing him... Perhaps our elusive, unknown enemy is orchestrating a further attack?" Elijah said looking at Genevieve.

"Well, then. What better way to punctuate a day of peace than by killing someone?" Klaus smiled.

The three brothers left to find out why they were seeing their father as Hayley and Wanda went to find the person responsible for the bombs.

Hayley and Wanda waited outside on the porch of Francesca's house. "Ah. Hayley and Wanda, right? I'm guessing you're not here because you two want to make a new friend?" the women said.

"I don't count terrorists as friends." Hayley said as the two stood up, "Wow. I've been accused of everything from grand larceny to blackmail, but "terrorist," that's new!" Francesca said.

"A human pulled up to our home in the bayou on a motorcycle and blew himself up." Hayley said, "I heard, awful. Goodnight!" the women tried to leave, Hayley looked at Wanda "All yours" the redhead smiled.

Hayley, annoyed, headbutts her bodyguard before slamming his head into a birdbath and knocking him out. Francesca stares in shock for a moment before smiling fakely at her.

"Word on the street is, he owed a hundred grand to the Palace Royale casino! And then, after he died, the debt was erased. Just like magic." the werewolf said.

"Jeff was a fixture at my roulette table. Sometimes he was up, sometimes he was down. I absolved his family of the debt he owed out of the goodness of my heart. Feel free to sniff around. My hands are clean! And, I'd advise you to mind your manners. It's lucky you're still alive. You're the one the wolves all whisper about like royalty. If I was interested in hurting the wolves, you'd be my target. And, when I go after someone? I don't miss." the women says.

Wanda rolls her eyes and the two girls walk out of the house and are on the sidewalk, neither of them noticing Monique behind them with a puppet. The witch chants a spell,

"Are you alright?" Wanda asks noticing Hayley tighten her coat around herself, "Yeah I'm fine." she said, Monique smirked and disappeared into the shadows.

Hayley and Wanda walked to the funeral and stepped beside the three brothers who were there, Kol instinctively wraps an arm around Wanda.

"You alright? You look-" Elijah started but Hayley cut him off "A hundred months pregnant and pissed off at the world?" Hayley said. "I was going to say you look lovely." Elijah smiled.

Wanda rolled her eyes and in her mind shouted, just kiss already.

"Do you think I was the target of those bombings?" Hayley asked, "Of course you were the target! Were I to wage a war on the wolves, you'd be my first kill! I would string you up, for all your worshippers to see." Klaus shouted making Wanda and Hayley glare at him.

"I believe that was my brother's way of telling you he'd like you to return home with us." Elijah turns to Klaus "Perhaps try a different approach, Niklaus, with fewer references to murder?" he suggested, "I don't think that's in Nik's range of capability." Kol laughed.

"As much as I would hate to throw you over my shoulder, and drag you kicking and screaming to the compound, we both know I will, for the sake of my child." Klaus smiled. "One bad dream, and suddenly, you want to be a responsible daddy!" Hayley sarcastically shouts.

Klaus wraps and arm around Hayley pulling her close, Wanda notices Elijah stand awkwardly now and she stifles a laugh.

"Let me put this into perspective, my father lived to torment me. It is not my intention to become him. This cycle of misery ends with my child." Klaus whispered, Hayley yanks her arm out of her grip "You forgot one thing in your little attempt to plead your case, she's not your child. She's ours." Hayley said then walked away.

Wanda sighed and leaned into Kol's side, "Very heartfelt, Niklaus." Elijah said making Kol snicker, "I bloody hate funerals." Klaus said.

Wanda watched as Hayley passed out, she immediately sent her magic to catch the brunette, "Klaus!" Wanda shouted gesturing to Hayley, Genevieve was there helping her. Elijah picked her up and they went back to the compound.

They lay her on the table, "I can help-" Genevieve offered but Elijah cut her off "Don't you touch her!" he shouted, "Let it be, Elijah. She was a nurse." Klaus said, Wanda terrified that Hayley and the baby were gone.

"There's a spell I can do. Klaus, get chamomile from the pantry. She's trembling. Your jacket, Elijah." the witch said as Elijah handed her his jacket and placed it on Hayley.

"She's not breathing, I can hear the baby's heartbeat, but not hers." Elijah says panicked, Wanda's breathe hitches and even Kol is a bit worried.

Genevieve presses damp chamomile against Hayley's forehead and chants a spell. Klaus becomes frustrated and scared he bites into his wrist and feeds her his blood hoping it will heal her. "Come on!" he shouts he looks at Elijah in fear.

"She's still not breathing. It's not working!" Elijah shouts angry as he throws a table against the wall. Elijah starts pacing.

"I'm taking her to a real doctor" he suddenly says "If you move her from here, my spell will break. There won't be enough time to get her to a hospital." Genevieve says.

"Will the baby survive if delivered now?" Klaus asked frantic, "I'll rip it out of her myself!" he shouts as he lunges for her body, Wanda summons her powers stopping Klaus from moving any further "Don't. Even. Dare." she threatened as her eyes were glowing red.

"Hayley will bleed to death!" the witch shouts, "I won't lose that baby!" Klaus shouts frustrated that he can't even move.

"I won't lose either of them." Elijah said, "I know what to do. Get my bag, the gris-gris pouch! Now!" Genevieve suddenly shouts.

Hayley suddenly wakes with a gasp, Klaus's blood all over her neck. "You're alright love." he said as he affectionately rubbed her shoulder.

"I saw him. He tried to kill me. I saw Mikael."

Wanda was in Kol's arms as Klaus walked into the room, "Hayley has agreed to return home to us...with her own free will." he says "I hope you will join us again, Wanda." the hybrid said.

Wanda smiled and nodded. Kol and Wanda went upstairs to his room, "I am so tired." she said as Kol plopped down onto the bed patting the place next to him.

Wanda smiled and laid next to him resting her head on his chest, Kol twirled a strand of her hair around his finger, "I've missed this." he sighed, Wanda chuckled but fell asleep a bit after.

That night for the first time in awhile, they both had a peaceful sleep.
