Special Chapter
Somewhere high, where the wind blows cold and someone’s hair is getting blown away, someone's standing while looking at unknown. His lips parted the same time as he closes his eyes, contemplating all his decision from the past hundred years of guiding people’s lives that is on his hand. Hueningkai, the Deity, opens his eyes when he felt a presence behind him.
“How was today?” Hueningkai asked using his usual calm and soft voice.
“Yeah, well… I just picked up some souls on the way,” Choi Yeonjun, the formerly Black Deity and now a Grim Reaper, answered. “Why did you call me here?” he asks, obviously confused because of a sudden call.
“How’s the kids?” the Deity asks, still facing the same scenery; the top of the sky scrapers and city lights.
“Choi Beomgyu and Kang Taehyun? Beomgyu’s doing great; his business is going well and the latter… Still the same,” Yeonjun answered.
Hueningkai nods and moves both of his arms, placing them at his back and clasp his hands. “I see…” he reacted.
“Deity…” Yeonjun called. “May I know why aren’t you letting Taehyun ascend yet? He’s been sleeping for five years now at the Borderline,” Yeonjun asks.
Hueningkai didn’t answer, he keep his mouth shut that made Yeonjun feel frustrated for a second. “Why?” Yeonjun asks still wearing his polite tone. “Why did you lie at him about you dying after a hundred years when you can actually live forever? What are you really trying to do, Deity?”
The Deity slowly turns around and meets the grim reaper’s eyes. Yeonjun is now allowed to see him and whenever they meet, Hueningkai’s face never change; composed, calm, bright, and always radiates positivity.
“Why do you think I made Taehyun’s family go to Daegu during holidays? Why do you think I didn’t let Taehyun’s soul came back after he save Beomgyu? Why Yeonjun? Why do you think Taehyun’s still sleeping up until now when he’s supposed to be dead already?”
Yeonjun gasps, he started remembering all the memories that happened five— no seven years ago. “N-no way… Why…” he can’t utter another word.
Hueningkai smiles, very sweet. “Kang Taehyun didn’t— never died. He was sleeping all along after the accident. Beomgyu just played a bit in his life. I tried everything to separate their fates… but their feelings are too strong,” he explained.
“T-then… Then what are you planning to do now?”
There’s a long silence. Yeonjun’s waiting for Hueningkai’s answer but the Deity’s calm and smiling face remains as it. Clearly, Yeonjun will not get any reply from him.
“Deity, at least tell me something before you’ll make a move again. Please,” he pleaded, he’s really concerned.
“Kang Taehyun just woken up…”
“Wait a damn minute!” Yeonjun’s voice raised and he pursed his lips when he realizes it. “Deity, why are doing this? You’re going to make them suffer again! You’re going to hurt them again! Beomgyu… Beomgyu already accepted the fact that Taehyun’s dead! And Taehyun… Just let Taehyun rest, please,” he pleaded again, lips are shaking.
He’s scared to what chaos will come again and he’s much scared that he might lead a dead soul with him when it happens.
“Kang Taehyun needs to come back for greater reason other than for Beomgyu. Yeonjun, make sure Taehyun won’t lose out of track,” Hueningkai instructed instead.
“Please, enlighten me—“
“If their fate is really to love each other despite of being against the world, then let it be. If their love is as strong as the ocean’s greatest current, then let it flow. At the end, that’s how everything should have ended at the past but things went out of my hand.”
“Deity… Why…”
Hueningkai smiles at one of his people. “I’ll take care of them too. Don’t worry,” he assures. “This time, I will make sure everyone who was involved in Taehyun’s death will punished by law of heaven.”
Yeonjun mindlessly walks backwards when he felt a strong aura surrounded him that’s emitting by Hueningkai. He knows the Deity is powerful than anyone. He can do whatever he wants if it is for good and now he can feel it, he can feel his anger despite of the smiles painted in his face.
“Guide the kids well, Choi Yeonjun. This is an order.”
Yeonjun bows, “Understood, Deity,” he agreed.
When Yeonjun looks up and stands straight, Hueningkai’s already not around. He closes his fist until he feels his nails digging up on his palms. There are so many thoughts inside his head and he doesn’t know what to do anymore.
He disappeared from where he’s standing and appears in front of a white abode. He pushed the white, wide, and tall door with a golden handle. He started walking and he can see souls walking around and he’s the only one that’s wearing an all-black.
Yeonjun stops in front of a room that he rarely visits for the past five years. He twisted the knob and opens the door. His shoulders fall and gasps when he saw the white bed, neatly tied up and the young man that is been lying in there are gone.
“He came back on land as human… as what Beomgyu wished.”
Wishing can be superstition and belief. Wishing is an act where you hope for something you know it will not be easy to be acquired. Yet Choi Beomgyu’s wish from five years ago suddenly came true.
What will happen to them? What chaos will arise now that Taehyun’s back? Are they going to wish again? If so, what wish will it be? Taehyun’s side will be heard after a long time. What will happen if the two past lovers will meet again each other?
Will the loves that withers in winter will turn into the love that blooms in spring?
