“Good morning Doctor Ahn. I’m Mrs. Choi, the daughter of patient Park.”

I froze when I heard that introduction. I went home earlier together with Taehyun to change clothes. But before I can reach the ICU where my grandma is, I heard that voice.

“Yes, Mrs. Choi. Please come to my office first so I can discuss about this operation.” That’s what I heard from Dr. Ahn and they started walking away.

“Why didn’t you greet her?” Taehyun asked me.

“Well… I don’t know either…” That’s the only thing I answered to him.

I walked towards the ICU’s window and see my grandma’s situation. There are some machines that support her breathing. And I can see how her chest goes up and down as she breathes.

“What are you thinking?” Taehyun asked me.

“That everything will going to be alright now.” I replied and smiled while looking at grandma.

Taehyun taps my shoulder, “Yeah hahaha but, I need to go work. So, I’m not going to be with you while your grandma is under operation.” He said.

“Where are you going?” I asked him.

“Just around this place… I’ll be back right away, hyung.” He said while smiling.

“Okay. Take care, Taehyun.” I said then he smiled at me before leaving me behind.

I don’t have to think of my grandma being on a deathbed now. I know everything is going to be alright.

After a couple of minutes Doctor Ahn arrived together with my mom Our eyes meet but I immediately withdraw it and gave some distance for her. I saw her smile on me for the first time again and it made me feel weird inside.

They transferred my grandma inside the operating room and Dr. Ahn told us that he’ll do everything he can.

“You’re more collected and calm today, Beomgyu. It scares me but I will do everything to make this operation a successful one.” He said to me.

I chuckled, “Hahahaha… Don’t worry, Dr. Ahn. I know this is going to be successful. Fighting!” I cheered him then he gave me a smile before entering the OR.

I sat down and keep myself calm. The operation will last from 3 to 6 hours so we’re really going to wait for long.

“You’re grandma is going to be safe, right?” I heard her asked and also take a sit with a one chair gap between us.

“Of course. She’s one of the strongest people I know.” I replied and didn’t lend her my gaze.

“I agree. That’s why she’s going to overcome this.”

I just nodded and then silence envelope the whole waiting area. I looked at her and she’s just busy playing with her hands.

“Have you been well?”

She looked at me after I asked her that. She gave me a smile and tears started to build in her eyes. “Yeah… Your mom has been well…” She answered.

“That’s good to hear…” I replied.

“My son… I missed you so much.”

Then I received a hug from her. I was caught at that moment and I don’t know what to react. I just felt my eyes heated and this warm hug just made me feel better.

How I missed being hugged by my mom. This is the hug I never felt for over a decade. How warm and nostalgic.

“I’m sorry. I’m sorry if mom left you to your granny. I really want to comeback in here ages ago but I can’t because of my contract. I’m so sorry.” She apologized.

“D-do you know how hard it was? You’re not with m-me and it’s really hurt, m-mom.” I cried and hugged her back.

“I know. That’s why mom is here now. I’m sorry Beomgyu. I love you so much.”

“Mom… Mom, I missed you so much.”

“I’m sorry… Forgive me. Forgive me Beomgyu.” She knelt down and held both of my cheeks, “Mom is here now so I’m going to take care of you and grandma, okay? I love you, son.”

I nodded like a kid, “I really hate you before and I kept telling myself that I’ll never forgive you but now that you’re here, I can’t even rant on you.” I said.

I heard her chuckle, “Rant to me, I don’t care. I’m going to listen.”

I shook my head, “No hahaha. I won’t do that anymore. I’m already happy having you here and grandma with me.” I said and smiled.

“Your grandma raised you well. I love you, son.”

Then I received again a warm hug from her. She brushed my tears while smiling.

“Mom, I love you too.”

I’ve hated her and treat her like she’s already dead but when I saw her smiling at me, every memories I had with her just made me feel at peace.

I don’t know how her hugs and voice can make me feel the comfort. Maybe because she’s my mom? Is this how moms tame their kids?

I don’t have a clue but I’m really happy already that she’s with me. Holding my hands and telling me everything she’ve been through and how sorry she is.

We talked about different things that made the bought of us cry and laugh. How great this feeling, I don’t want to lose her again.

Four hours had passed then Dr. Ahn went out from the OR so, mom and I stood up. I know that this is going to be successful but I’m still worried.

He removed his mask and hes smiling at me. As I saw that, I know everything went well.

“The operation is successful, Mrs. Choi…” He announced and my mom suddenly burst in crying so I hugged her.

“I knew it…” I whispered.

“Beomgyu really prayed so hard hahaha. She needs a lot of rest so she’ll be admitted in here for at least a week. Okay?”

I smiled when I heard that then we saw grandma coming out from the OR and my smile went even wider.

Thank you because she will live.

My mom followed the nurses that pushing the bed of my mom and I stand still in there while looking at them. I’m just so happy right now.

“Hyung!” I looked back and saw Taehyun with some drinks on his hand.

“Oh, you’re here.” I said and smiled at him.

“Ice Americano hahahah.” He replied and lend me the other cup, “So, how was it?”

I sipped first before answering him, “Success! AHAHAHAHAH! I’m really happy right now!” I shouted then we started walking.

“Aahahaha! I’m glad it really went well. So, aren’t you going to tell me what the condition is?” He asked me.

I held her hand while smiling, “You’re going to meet my mom first hahaha.” I chuckled.

“Huh? Are you sure?” He asked in panicked.

“Yes I am HAAHAHAH!”

We arrived at the room and I saw my mom cleaning and arranging some stuff. “Mom!”

“Oh yeah—“ She looks surprised when she saw me and my hand holding Taehyun’s. “Oh, who is this fine looking young man?” He asked.

I raised our hands, “He’s my boyfriend, mom.” I introduced him.

“HUH!?” Taehyun exclaimed while his wide eyes are looking at me.

“Ahh well… Hello, I’m Beomgyu's mom.” Mom introduced herself but still in confuse.

“Ahh I-I’m… Kang Taehyun. Nice to meet you mom—I meant ma’am.”

I laughed because this is the first time I saw him acting like this.

My mom also laughed at him, “Aigoo hahahaha. I didn’t my son will end up having boyfriend as handsome as you hahaha.”

“Wait mom, did I get what you said the other way around?” I asked her.

She laughed again, “HAHAHA that’s not what I meant. Anyways, why don’t we have a late lunch together? Mina will be here soon and she have some homemade dishes.” She said.

“Really? Oh! That’s good. Taehyun, eat with us.” I said.

“I need to go somewhere… I’m sorry.” He apologized to me and mom.

“Is that really important? You just arrived.” I asked him.

He nodded, “Yeah… I should go now. See you later, ma’am.” He said before going out from the room.

I followed him and called his name, “Taehyun… If you’re going to meet the Deity, tell him that I thank him a lot.” I said.

“Sure hahaha. See you later, hyung.” Then he waved his hand.

I went in again and walk beside the bed. I held my grandma’s hand and smiled. Her face is so calm and alive. I can’t see any pain on it.

You’ve been through a lot, grandma. Don’t worry, you are now saved.

“When did the two of you started dating?” I look at my mom while she’s still arranging grandma’s stuffs.

“Just a month ago…” I answered.

“Ohh… I’m glad that you aren’t alone anymore, that you have a partner now.” She commented.

“Actually… I promised to someone that I’m going to meet you with him.” I said.

“Who was it?” She asked me.

“Ahh…” I paused and think of what I’m going to answer to her. I smiled before speaking again, “My friend…”

“Ahh… So where is he now?” She asked me.

I looked at the window while imagining what Soobin hyung is doing right now. I smiled when a thought crossed my mind.

“Probably having fun… Like what he used to be.”

Then the door opened and Park Mina went inside, “Hello auntie and Beomgyu! I brought you lunch!”

We started eating then we heard mom’s phone vibrated. She checked it and looked at me.

“Why?” I asked her.

“Your class already ended for this semester right?” She asked me.

“Yeah? Why is that?” I asked her then picked a piece of meat and eat.

“I actually joined a promo vacation before for the two of us but because of grandma, I needed to take care of her.” She said.

“Then just cancel it.” I suggested.

I felt her hand on the top of mine that made me look at her. “You’ve been taking care of your grandma since I was gone. So, I want you to use this.”

“Where is that?” I asked.

“Busan.”

“Busan? Isn’t it too cold to be in Busan at this season?” I asked her and she just smiled at me.

“Use it together with Taehyun. Just use it and enjoy your vacation. Okay? This is a 5 days stay and everything is well provided already.”

What she said made me think that it’s been ago since I have a fun vacation. Last holiday, I almost got in an accident so that wasn’t fun at all.

“Don’t worry about your grandma. I’m already here to take care of her.”

I smiled at her, “Thank you mom.”

“You’re welcome. When you come back here, I expect you to be really refreshed! Do you get me?”

I chuckled, “Hahahaha okay mom, okay hahahah!”

“Hahahahaha! Now, eat a lot.”

I really hope this vacation is going to make the both of us happy.
