Chapter 10 - 'Hello there...'

Chapter 10 - 'Hello there...'

Doctors PoV

'Is it alright if I stay? It's just I don't think the Tardis will let me in' I said to her and she nodded.

'Yeah but out here' she said. I figured that it was going to take me a while to build trust in her again.

I can't believe I have screwed up the only relationship that has ever mattered to me by overshooting by 8 months... And to top it all off, she was pregnant.

She slung a pillow and a blanket on the sofa, as she made it quite clear I was to go no where near the bed.

So I laid down on the sofa in the dark and looked at the ceiling.

Clara had left her door open a jar, and so I could hear at about half past 11, the sound of bubbles.

I wondered what it was but realised that it was the baby. She was awake and making baby noises.

She wasn't crying so wasn't sure if I should disturb or not, but decided to give Clara a break.

She needs the sleep, and I haven't exactly done my duty very well over the last few months.

I carefully opened her bedroom door and picked her up quietly out of the basket.

I then pulled the door too, but didn't shut it, just in case Clara freaked out. I held her in my arms and looked at her. Clara was right.

I mean I could see Clara in her but there was me there as well. 11th regeneration.

'Hello there' I said and stroked her little face.

I wasn't sure where to go, so went into the spare bedroom, of which I did not expect to be done up.

Everything was in here except a cot. I figured I could sort that one out for Clara later.

She was very much alert and I could tell analysing my face deeply. It's like she knew who I was.

'So Autumn. Have you been keeping mummy in her toes?' I asked her. I wasn't expecting a response. I was just a normal ridiculous guy talking to the baby he didn't know he had.

'Your one lucky little girl' I said to her and she stretched a little bit kicking her legs.

'Your mummy will go to heaven and back for you. But one day, we're going to show you the Stars' I said and soniced the light on the ceiling.

'The real stars, the stars out there are rather more impressive than the ones on your baby grow. But it doesn't matter, because you'll get to see them. I took your mummy to see the stars. She says that I showed her the stars, but sometimes, I think she really showed me' I admitted.

It was easy to talk to her. Because she doesn't have any opinions yet. She can't even talk.

'Shall I tell you a story?' I asked her when her eyelids were starting to drop again.

I sat in the fabric chair that was in the corner and looked out the window with her.

'I took mummy to a planet once, and she made me the man I have become. The wise old man still saving planets from aliens and looking after the humans. When I took her to Akheten, she was so young. She was so cute and she could stand her own. That's why the people of this universe are safe, because if old God had got hold of everyone... You and I wouldn't even be here. Not that I should be. I don't think mummy wants me to be here. But to be fair I made the worst mistake ever. When she was sick I should have stayed' I admitted and found the warmth of both her and me putting me to sleep.
