-showdown-
"Son of a bitch, these people are alive,", One of them said, laughing, looking around the room.
They looked around at those in the bar, walking in and helping themselves to drinks. None of the group moved, but Theo was now far from her gun and next to one of the men.
"Hey, sweetheart, pass me that bottle behind you", he asked, pointing at Theo.
She grabbed it without turning her back and slid it across the counter.
"I'm Dave, that is Tony, we met in Philly. What a shit show that was," Dave explained. He was skinny and tough-looking; Tony was on the larger side, dressed in white and black with a chain around his neck, a proper New Yorker.
"It's Glenn. It's nice to see some new people." Glenn smiled at the new faces. Theo looked at them, unsure if they could be trusted.
"Rick Grimes" Rick introduced himself
"Are you having one?" Dave asked Herschel for a drink.
"I just quit," Herschel explained, confirming that the group had Herschel back to his normal state of mind but with a new perspective.
"You have funny timing, my friend" Dave smiled, toasting his glass.
"That's Herschel; he lost a lot of people today", Rick explained
"Sorry, man" Dave sincerely nodded
"What about you, darling? You have a name?" Tony asked, leaning on the bar, looking at her with a grimace, and smiled
"Theo Grimes", Theo explained, giving him a dirty look.
"Father and daughter, I assume, must be nice" Dave smiled between the two.
"Yeah, it is" Rick smiled at his daughter.
"So is that Theo, sort for Theodora?" Tony smirked, trying his hardest to flirt.
"What else would it be short for?" Theo asked, confused and embarrassed by the man's attempt to flirt.
He awkwardly walked away before Dave laughed.
"You got a man? Cuz if you don't just tell him you do, he will leave you be," Dave laughed.
"Yeah, engaged", Theo lied, looking at her hands.
"No ring, doll." Tony raised an eyebrow, holding his hand up and pointing at his ring finger, which was also empty.
"I buried it with his body", She snapped, making them go quiet.
Rick was impressed by how she made these men feel inadequate, which made them turn away from her.
"Sorry, Theo" Dave nodded.
She smiled quickly before watching Tony back away.
"Yeah, well, aren't we all?" She rolled her eyes
It went silent for a moment before Dave grabbed his gun. He was intentionally making the room tense; he knew exactly what he was doing.
"Nice huh? Got it off a cop," he smiled, showing off his weapon.
"I'm a cop" Rick interjected quickly.
"Well, this one was already dead, " he answered quickly, smiling at him.
"You guys are a long way from Philly? What drove you don't hear?" Rick asked, staying on guard.
"Well, I can tell you it wasn't the weather; you must have dropped 30 pounds in sweat" Dave rubbed his head.
"I wish", Tony laughed. "First, there was DC", Tony began. "Rumours of a camp, we got stuck in jams, never made it close, had to go off the highway, just had to keep moving, then rumours of ferries leaving the countries, then trains moving us into the centre of the state" Dave continued "Every group we met had a new way out."
"Like Nebraska?" Glenn asked, fully invested in listening to Dave.
"Have you ever been?" Dave asked, sitting comfortably in his seat.
"No" Glenn frowned.
"Where there's a reason they are called the flower community", Dave laughed. "What about you guys?"
"Fort Benning", Theo answered, even if that was not the plan anymore.
"I hate to burst your bubbles, guys, but we met a man stationed there; lame brains overrun it," he explained to them.
"It's gone?" Glenn asked, a saddened expression on his face.
"Trust us, I don't think there is a way out of this mess. You have to hope that one of those things doesn't grab you in your sleep," Dave sighed, taking a swig of his drink.
"If you sleep", Tony answered.
"Yeah, speaking of you guys, don't look like you're hanging your hats here; you got a place?" Dave asked
"Not really," Rick explained, shrugging and keeping his eyes on Dave as Theo constantly watched Tony.
"Those cars yours?" Dave asked, pointing out the door.
"Yeah, why?" Glenn asked. Rick and Theo looked at him to stop talking. The two Grimes knew what was happening and weren't about to let that happen.
"They look clean. We live out of ours. Where is all your gear?" Dave asked them.
"We are part of a larger group..." Herschel began, standing beside Rick.
"We are out scouting, people here and there. We need a break," Theo finished. So what a better idea than to go and have a drink, right?" Theo smiled, making Dave smile back.
"We're thinking about setting up here. Is it safe?" Dave asked
"Yeah, walkers are small; the place has been cleared anyway", Glenn explained
"Walkers?" he asked
"It's what we call the lame brains", Theo explained, looking at the two of them.
"I like it better", he smiled, looking at Tony.
Again, it fell silent.
"You out on the outskirts, on a farm?" Dave asked as Tony started singing before peeing in the corner. "You got a farm? Glenn?" Dave asked, looking past both Grimes' and Herschel
Glenn went to talk, but Theo stopped him.
She kicked him in the knee.
"Ow," He slowly looked at Theo in shock.
"Hang on, if you have a farm, that must be sweet. Look, we have people; we can help. Where is the hospitality?" Dave asked as Tony joined him. Theo slowly walked around the bar, and she was now behind her dad on the right of Glenn.
"Sorry, that isn't an option", Rick explained, his fingers tapping over his gun.
Theo couldn't grab her gun still.
"Come on, I thought we were friends. We have people to look out for, too," Dave began, standing.
"But we know nothing about you", Rick told them firmly
"That's true."
"Not to mention, you haven't said your numbers," Theo asked. "And let's add on top of that, we aren't looking for new members. "
He looked at Theo and smiled.
"You got your daddy's cop skills, huh?" Dave asked, impressed by her thinking.
"Guess it's in my genes," she answered, without expression on her face.
"You know nothing about us, what we have done; I think you also had to do that, too, right? No one's hands are clean, not in this world, so come on, let's shake hands, take us to the farm; we will get to know each other," Dave pleaded.
"It's not going to happen", Rick repeated more angrily.
"Bullshit", Tony stated, walking over aggressively.
"Calm down," Rick told the stranger
"Don't tell me to calm down" Tony began to get annoyed
"Whoa, that's enough", Theo put sternly
"I'll shoot you all in the head and take the goddamn farm!" Tony yelled, making Rick get up annoyed.
"Whoa, relax," Dave asked, "No one is killing anyone, right Rick?" Dave asked, jumping over the bar and placing his gun down, Theo's eyes not leaving the sight of Tony
Dave grabbed another drink
"What do you suggest we do?" Dave asked, looking at everyone.
"Keep looking", Rick answered, a slight smirk toying at his lips.
"Where?" Dave laughed
"I hear Nebraska is nice", Theo answered sarcastically
"Nebraska", Dave continued to laugh, nodding slowly, obviously amused at Theo's answers.
Theo watched her dad as his hand was placed on his gun, tapping it lightly with his fingers. She put her hand over her knife, knowing the possibilities of what would happen.
"This guy", Dave said before pulling his gun out; Rick, however, beat him to it and shot Dave in the head.
Theo responded quickly, watching Tony grab his knife and aim for her dad.
Theo jumped over to Tony quickly, taking her knife and going to stab Tony's head; she used her left arm to hold in in a choke hold before plunging her blade into the man's skull, noticing that it needed more strength compared to the walker she had taken down the same way.
She pulled her knife back, getting her face covered in blood as his dead body fell to the ground.
Theo froze in shock over what she had just done.
She dropped her knife.
Completely frozen.
She blinked quickly and gulped as her dad looked at his daughter in shock.
"You alright?" he asked, walking over and grabbing her face so she looked at him.
She nodded repeatedly before slowly walking over to the seat.
"Holy shit", Glenn responded as he stood watch.
Glenn walked over to Theo, making sure she was okay.
"You hurt?" Glenn asked his best friend before bending down and picking up her knife, gently rubbing off some blood on her face, but it stained her skin.
She shook her head as she took his hand.
"We need to get going", Rick said, noticing that the skies were dark blue outside.
"Are you both okay?" Rick asked Herschel and Glenn. They both nodded as the group began to make a move.
They took the men's guns and headed out.
But that's when a car pulled up outside.
"Down!" Rick yelled as they all ran to the door before ducking.
