Chapter 29

I sighed in relief when I saw Raf and June step out of Bumblebee's alt mode, both safe and sound. Raf gave an awkward face as he got out.

"Uh.. we're back," he said.

Ratchet smiled slightly. "And we are glad."

I grinned down at the two of them. Raf saw and grinned back, before turning back to his guardian and jumping into his servo. The scout looked absolutely relieved that he had returned, and the two had a private conversations to themselves. I glanced over to Nurse Darby, hoping to catch her attention, but she had gone over to her son and was talking to him. I patted Ratchet a little to let him know I wanted to get down. He nodded in understanding and knelt down, letting me slide in and out of his servo. He stood back up just as Agent Fowler arrived, going off to the Prime and speaking to him, but I wasn't paying attention. I ran over to where Nurse Darby was heading, getting there first.

June started a little when she saw me, before her gaze softened. I awkwardly walked toward her, my hands behind my back. I was looking up at the ground up until I was just in front of her. She took my shoulders in her hands and gave me a gentle smile.

"Are you alright, honey?" she asked.

I nodded lightly. "I.. I'm sorry for shouting at you," I apologized. "I was just... angry. I haven't felt that way in a long time, and I guess it had plenty to let out. But.. I shouldn't have yelled. I'm sorry." I glanced down to the ground again.

"It's alright," she answered. "I owe you an apology, too. I didn't think about how you, or any of the other children, cared about their guardians." She looked to the talking Autobots with a smile. "And Bumblebee just showed me how much they are willing to do to protect us."

I raised my head and smiled. "Yeah, Ratchet won't admit it, but he would do anything to save all us, if necessary."

The nurse smiled and pulled me into a quick hug. Just as she let go, Agent Fowler came storming in, shouting angrily at Optimus, up until he saw June standing there, and quickly settled down. I smirked to myself, catching the slight blush he had on his face. I looked over to Jack, who greeted the agent with a grin. He apparently hadn't noticed yet.

"We have learned this," Ratchet said loudly to the man. "As with your so called magma, these earthquakes originated far below the earth's crust, from the very center, the earth's core, in fact."

"Quakes don't start there," Agent Fowler said, looking over the railing. "Do they?"

"They don't," I said, standing next to him and looking at my guardian.

"Tiny tremors, rising and falling," Ratchet continued, "in a consistent pattern. Almost like..." he paused, his optics narrowing. He glared at the screen for a little longer, before drawing back in shock. "By the Allspark," he muttered. "If I convert these data points, to audio files..."

"What? What is it?" Agent asked, getting flustered.

"Listen," the medic instructed, looking back to the monitor.

My chest began to squeeze as I did so, fear rising into my heart. The sound was all too familiar, and all too creepy. It made everyone in the room widen their eyes in surprise or shudder. I looked at Ratchet with frightened eyes, and he gave me a similar and apologetic look. I wanted to climb onto him again, but right now didn't really seem like the time as the sound grew louder and clearer.

"A Cybertronian heartbeat," Jack inferred, his voice shaking a little.

"How is that possible?" June asked, hugging her arms. "A heart pumps blood. There's nothing inside the earth to pump except.."

"The blood of Unicron!" Raf realized in horror, sitting up straight on the couch.

Everyone stilled, their heart no doubt beating rapidly as they took the shock in. I shuddered, suddenly feeling cold. Something wasn't right. As the others all started talking in panic and confusion, I leaned on the rail to get Ratchet's attention. He caught it and turned to me, his voice low.

"What is it?" he asked, sounding a bit annoyed.

I shuddered again, goosebumps rising up my arms. "I don't feel right.." I said shakily, rubbing my hands up and down my chilled bumps. "Something's wrong."

His faceplate quickly turned to one of worry and he held out his servo. I climbed over the rail weakly, nearly falling over into his digits. He held me up gently, examining me thoroughly. "You said you felt fine a bit ago."

I nodded, leaning on his digits. I suddenly felt very weak, tired, and out of breath. "Yeah, I thought I was fine..." I rasped, closing my eyes. "Now I don't feel so good.."

I felt my guardian shake me a little. "Stay with me," he said seriously. "I need to know what's wrong."

I sighed, forcing my eyes to open. "I feel really weak, like I'm running on fumes." I winced, my breath hitching. "My lungs hurt, and my legs are starting to ache..."

He brought me closer, bringing me to my normal spot on his chassis. I slid off carefully, leaning on his shoulder pad and huffing for air. Why was I suddenly feeling this way?

"I'd look you over," he said quietly, "but due to the fact that I do not know human anatomy, nor do I think I should pull myself away from the team at this time, I don't know if I should.."

I could faintly hear Optimus discussing something with the others. I knew that this was important. I probably just had a fever or something. I traced my hand gently across the warm metal shoulder pad.

"It's alright, I probably just caught something," I assured him, closing my eyes again. "I'll just get some rest. Don't worry about me."

He shifted, and I felt his digit poke my stomach gently. "I don't know if I can do that," he whispered, giving me a smirk. "But I will allow it."

I blushed at him, never having seen such a smirk. His words were gentle and teasing. My face was still hot as the digit slowly forced me to lay down, but my weariness allowed me to let the strange feeling fade. I curled up on top of him, making sure I was safe and comfortable, and closed my eyes. My body still hurt, but it felt good to lay down, and I let out a sleepy sigh of relief.

"Be careful..," I muttered to my guardian as I drifted off into a restless sleep.

I know, short chapter, and a lot like the episode. Trust me, I was getting kinda bored writing it, and had to watch the episode again to remember how it went..

There won't be much of these episodes in the next couple chapters (you will see why), but just a few more and then it's off to the next book! I'M REALLY EXCITED!!

*waves*
