chapter=40 Distance(edited)
When someone means so much to you, distance does not matter at all.
Yumna:
I went and sat on the bed in the dark, sweating, remembering the man's words that I should not tell anyone. I sobbed as I remembered those words.
Suddenly, the lights came on, and I turned to see Ahad standing by the door, staring at me as if trying to figure out what went wrong. He ran to my sister's room and sat down on the bed.
"Yumna, Yumna!it's me Ahad what's wrong?"I heard his worried voice as he spoke softly.
No I can't tell him I have to avoid this man if I tell him that they will harm both him and his family.
I looked away, hoping he would not press the issue, and said, "Nothing is wrong."
"That is absurd. He observed me closely and firmly said, "I know something went wrong while I was away. I hope he does not touch my hand or else he will find out.
He was about to touch my hand when I jerked it away, which made him get up and start pacing the room in frustration at my actions.
"Dammit, tell me what happened and why you withdrew your hands."He sounded so enraged and angry in his voice now.
"Will you please leave it?"Despite my voice breaking down, I begged him and tried not to cry, instead communicating with him through my eyes.
He got up and yelled, "You are hiding something, something happened, and I will find out." I could tell he was angry.
With tears in my eyes, I told him, "Let us go out as we had planned and not spoil the beautiful night," but he gave me no reaction.
We headed home at around 11 p.m. after having dinner that both my parents and I enjoyed. Ahad pretended nothing had happened and only spoke to me when necessary. I looked around to make sure nobody was following us. The only sound that came from our silent prayers was the breathing of the two of us, so I laid down the mat for us both.

Ahad was still upset with me when I woke him up for Tahajjud.
I prayed to Allah, asking him to keep my lovely family safe.
Ahad was ahead of me and I was behind, but after he finished praying on the mat, he looked over at me as though to persuade me with his eyes to tell me what had transpired.
As though displeased by my quiet, he said, "You think I did not see how you were terrified during dinner looking here and there?"
"What are you talking about?"He merely ruffled his hair in frustration at my attitude, so I pretended to be stupid and asked him.
He simply got up without giving me another look when I said, "Let us go to bed."
As we lay in bed, I said in a whisper, "Let us not end our night like this."
"Who is hiding what, anyway?"He was hurt by my actions, as evidenced by the pain in his voice.
Sorry, I will let you know when it is appropriate.I gestured for him to move closer, but all he did was stare at the ceiling.
"What if you wait a long time and something happens? I know someone has spoken to you," he said, sounding weary and defeated.
Squeezing him, I tried to explain, "Just rest and let us forget everything since this is our special day."
Eventually, he gave in and said, "Promise me you will tell me everything."
I stepped forward to give him a hug as he said, "Promise."
We always try to sleep without grudges, and that is what I love about us. "I will, insha'Allah," I told him.
Even though I know I have hurt him a lot, I was afraid that the man might have sent guys because I knew that once he found out, Ahad would drop everything to make sure we were safe and worry even more because he was already so stressed out.
We lay in peaceful silence until we fell asleep. "I am sorry," I muttered, hoping that nothing bad would happen to Ahad.
