      Neither of them could sleep, but they refused to speak or break the silence that tenderly held them together. Rosé laid on her back, her head propped by one of the pillows. Still, she was still leaning against the headboard of the bed. Tom laid right by her side, his pinky looked around hers. Pillow walls became a thing when Rosé got older and felt uncomfortable sleeping with a boy other than Noah. So the two naturally began forming a wall of pillows whenever they slept in the same bed.

      This was the first time since they were nine that they slept without a pillow wall.

      "Earlier you said something about protecting me," Rosé began, breaking the silence they had developed for three hours. Her soft voice caught his attention as he looked up at her, but her dark brown eyes refused to meet his. She closed her eyes as she scooted down back onto the bed. "What did you mean by that? I'm not mad about whatever you're hiding from me, but, I'd like to know what's going on if it's involving me."

      "I talked to Seth in his private messages," Tom admitted as Rosé began playing with his hair again. They both turned to their sides and faced one another making it easier for her to play with his hair, and still their pinkies were linked with one another. "I told him that he should back off for awhile. Didn't really like him, and I know that it's stupid for me not to. He's perfect for you Rosie Girl."

      Rosé hummed as she watched Tom slowly close his eyes from the comfort of her action. She smiled to herself as she stopped and her smile grew once she saw Tom open his eyes with a small pout hanging off his lips. "You've never been so passionately involved with the boys I talked to," she reminded softly. She propped her head with her hand and gave him a lazy smirk.

      "That's because I didn't have to compete with them."

      "No one's going to replace you, Tommy, you know that - "

      "I'm a shitty best friend, Rosie. That is something neither of us can deny," Tom argued as he sat up. He groaned out of irritation as his hands hid his face, his elbows relied on his knees. He couldn't look at her, maybe in fear that if he did he'd see the confirmation on her face. As if Rosé confirming this fact would set the record in stone.

      "Yeah, you're a shitty fucking best friend," Rosé snapped. She forced Tom to look at her as she grabbed his wrists and pulled his hands away from his face. He stared at her with shock visible on his face, but he couldn't miss the anger written on hers. Maybe she's finally snapped, maybe she's finally had enough of him, maybe this is the end of their friendship -

      Lavender.

      "But there's no one else that could ever replace you," Rosé whispered as she hugged him. She was on her knees whilst he sat down, her arms around his neck as he pulled his head onto her shoulders. The small Korean girl held him a little tighter, maybe as an attempt to pull his broken pieces together. "You're my best friend, the first one, the one who will always find out about the important details in my life. Even before Noah, Seth, or even Kelsey.

      "You know me better than all of them combined. You know how I like my cuppa, or how I hate tomatoes but love marinara sauce more than anything," Rosé rambled which earned a soft chuckle from her friend. She smiled proudly as she pulled away. Her hands cupped his cheeks, "You're my best friend Thomas Stanley, and I don't want you to be insecure about that any longer. Because I'm here for the long run."

       Tom placed a hand over his racing heart. He sucked in a breath as he slowly exhaled, his eyes closed as he tried to avert his thoughts elsewhere. The actor patted his chest as if it'd help stop the ache in his chest. "Stop it," he whispered to himself as his eyes opened slowly. He glanced at the screen and saw a notification alerting a new message from Reyna. "You're going to get hurt, you know that. Let her go, just let her go, Tom."
