CHAPTER FIFTY FIVE

      Not every ending was left with a goodbye, closure, or no hard feelings. But sometimes we do get to say goodbye, sometimes we do get to close that chapter of our lives on a good note. However, there will always be this lingering regret inside of you; a part of you that wonders if you can move on without feeling pain or nostalgic over the past. Because when it comes to the future you can't feel nostalgic about something that has already happened, not if you would like to move forward with your lives.

      For the past few days that's all Reyna could ever think about, this wonderment of if she can be on her own. Because for the past two days she was never alone, not truly anyways, and Theo made sure of that. He was this reassuring presence that reminded her that she could fall back if she wanted to, because at the end of the day he was there to catch her before she hits the ground. Maybe it'll be difficult to live without her best friend by her side, but that doesn't mean her life can't possibly change for the better.

      She can be on her own, maybe, who knows really. But Reyna can't explore this new side of her if there was someone by her side who always reminded her of the past. Reyna can't expect Theo to drop everything in his life for her, not like he used to. Because she isn't the only person in his life, she's not the center of his world.

      He was heading to another country, go traveling with Carter for a few weeks. They were both at the airport, their terminals on different sides of the airport. Maybe it was symbolic in an utterly stupid way, who knows, but Reyna knew that she wasn't going to get emotional over this. They both needed this closure after the trauma they experienced.

      "Hurry with your sappy goodbyes," Nathan instructed sternly as he pointed his finger at his sister. Reyna did nothing but roll her eyes and push his arm away, but nodded at his words. Nathan scowled at his twin's immature action before he flicked her forehead causing the younger sister to whine at the slight pain. "I'm serious, Rey, our flight is soon. Just say goodbye to Theo and Carter and we'll be on our way."

      "Lighten up, will you? I won't see him for a few weeks. Don't I deserve more time with my best friend?"

      "Oh come on, now you're being overdramatic. It's not like you won't see him forever." You don't know that, Reyna thought bitterly. She nodded her head like an obedient child and walked towards Theo who was in a conversation with his blonde girlfriend. When the latter noticed her she nudged her boyfriend before she smiled and nodded at Reyna's direction.

      Theo beamed a warm smile at Reyna before he opened his arms for a hug. He didn't seem to  notice the hesitance in her steps as she approached him and walked into his arms. He held her tight, his chin resting on top of her left shoulder and his arms wrapped around her waist. Reyna tried to contain her emotions, trying desperately not to break out into tears.

      This is her home, and now she's leaving it.

      "You take care, alright? If you ever need me just say the word and I — "

      "I'll be alright, Theo, I promise. You focus on yourself for now, okay?"

      "Don't be silly, Rey. At the end of the day you're still my best friend and I'd do anything for you, you know that."

      "I know. I feel the same way, Theo."

      "Call me when you get to South Korea, okay?"

      She never called.

      Tom stared at his phone screen with horror in his eyes. His hand shook as he settled his phone down on the table. The actor, now alone in his trailer and thoughts, buried his face in his hands. He shakily exhaled a breath, almost as if to remind himself that he had to calm down. His chest tightened as his thoughts became his worse nightmare. His vision blurred as tears threatened to spill and his hands grew cold and clammy right away.

      She's gone, was all he could think of.

      "Reyna," he whispered through a broken tone.

      Maybe he really is Theo, because she too left without a word or explanation.

Sad, sad chapter. Truly tragic, I'm sorry. Just kidding, it's almost getting good! I swear you guys will love me for the next chapter, I promise!

We're almost at the end of the book, I'm sad. The sequel will be happy, or at least I'll try to make it happy and shit.
