one, brutish beast

"chaos is beautiful, isn't it?"

The Master Starship was extremely spacious and bound with the luxury fit for the royalty it beheld, but that didn't halt the increasing tension between the wolfish siblings.

The Volkov twins were not on speaking terms and Lusine was feeling a despicable urge to get inside his head with her bubbling magic. Make him throw himself out of the window, into oblivion.

The feeling was mutual, except Lycus would have to use brute force to get Lusine into the dark oblivion.

Even if either of them made a move to harm the other, their father Bulan was watching with his golden staff in one hand and his wife's dainty hand in the other. His large hands dwarfed her; him a tall man with a greying beard and the brilliant blue eyes which his offspring had the great honour to inherit.

Those blue eyes were part of what made Lusine who she was. They could enchant any being into her honey trap. Man or woman, husband or wife.

They'd fall into a trance like state she could control, make them do as she pleased. Her beauty was what drew them in, her words made them stay, their hearts left wanting more while their stomach flipped.

King Bulan watched his children with great care as they stared each other down. Not to his surprise, Lusine looked overly menacing. Emphasised for onlookers. He knew that Lycus would never kill Lusine with intentions to do so, but he was not so sure the feeling was mutual between them. Lusine was dangerous, unpredictable and would not hesitate to kill Lycus if it meant her own life in exchange.

And that thought terrified the Wolf King.

"How long until we get there now, father?" Lusine grumbles, leaning her head back against the plush red cushion. "This ship makes me want to bash my head against the metal wall."

"Then do it." Lycus says shortly, turning his head away from his sister.

"Lycus, you and I both know that it's your job to hit your head against walls and hope that something brilliant comes from it," She replies harshly, rolling her eyes at Lycus. "So, how long before my dear brother and I can flatten Asgard?"

"We'll be arriving in Asgard shortly. The Winter Ball is in three days time; we shall have plenty of time to settle in." Bulan looks to his wife.

Selene smiles slightly. "And no flattening any part of Asgard, you two," She says with the smile remaining on her thin lips. "Lycus, go and tend to the army. I'm sure they'll want to hear from their commander."

"Yes, their glorious commander," Lusine rolls her eyes heavily. "Mother, why don't I have an army?" Her thin lips pull into a teasing smirk as she sits up, curling her hands together in her lap over the black of the wool.

"Lusine, dear, you can barely look after those wolves of yours," Selene laughs, shaking her head.

"You know their fur is supposed to be white, don't you?" Lycus calls as he crosses the room. Lusine leans back against the cushions and closes her eyes.

"An army can clean itself, idiot."

"Lusine," A voice from above calls.

Lusine raises an arm sleepily toward the face hovering above her groggy vison. Her arm is smacked away.

"We're here, so you might want to wake up and get ready. The Royal family are awaiting us in the throne room." Lycus looks down at his sister and runs a hand through his dark hair, smirking. "Who knows? Maybe you'll even manage to enchant one of Odin's sons? I hear they're both available."

"Lycus?"

"Yes, sister?"

"If I were you I'd start running. I'm about to rip your throat out with my teeth as if I were an actual wolf," She hisses, her eyes falling back closed as she rolls over away from him.

"Lucky for me you're not an actual wolf," Lycus grimaces as he scoops his sister up in his muscular arms. Instantaneously she begins to kick and scream and punch at him, her nails clawing at him as he carries her to the maids who would force her into one of the many dresses Selene had requested be made for her.

"You'd better not drop me, you brutish beast!" She cries as he carries her away.

"I'm not going to drop you," Lycus promises, but mockingly he lets go of her for a brief moment and she begins to fall, until he catches her. His laughter burns Lusine's ears.

"You're not just a brutish beast, you're a fool too. It's a wonder you're a warrior, not a court jester, brother."

Lusine curses under her breath as he finally lets her down. Even though he's careful she bats him away and demands, "Leave. Go tend to your pilot of a lover, will you? She's most likely dying to see you."

A fragile maid steps up behind her, but Lusine wasn't done with her brother quite yet.

"You never did tell me how you fell in love with that ruin of a woman," She says, adding a touch of a feather to her voice, feigning interest and mocking his devotion to a woman with everything to gain by wedding Lycus.

"That, my dear sister, is a tale for another day," He says, nodding his head at her.

Lusine scowls at the back of his head as he walks away from her. She hated it when he didn't play to her game and her rules. It made her hate him just that little more every time he did it.

"Little maid, make me look like the goddess I am." She commands, closing the door behind her. The maid gulps, looking at the princess with just the right amount of fear. "Well, go on!" Lusine barks as she ushers the maid toward the dress at the other side of the room, resting on her bed which she had not yet slept in.

The dress was dark as night. It flattered every turn and corner of her figure and delicately swooped into a revealing neckline. Lusine was pleasantly surprised by her mother's choice of clothing for the occasion of meeting royalty. It pleased her to see the choice was tailored perfectly to her personality.

"Thank you," Lusine breathes out as she looks herself up and down in the mirror. "My little maid, please come with me to Asgard. It seems that you do quite well in the art of dress up." Lusine gives the girl a playful wink before turning back to her reflection.

"It would be my honour to do so," The maid says mechanically. Lusine spins around to her, placing a hand on the maid's forearm.

"What is your name, child?" Lusine asks, her fingers tapping impatiently on the girl's skin, making her uncomfortable to say the least.

"Cloris Cleantha, Princess Lusine." She answers, her voice shaking slightly.

"Well, Cloris, know that you now serve me and serve me only. I require your complete trust in that when I require you to do something, you do it, and when I command that you do not do something, you obey me without question." Lusine's grip on Cloris' arm tightens as she forces her to look into her gorgeous enchanting eyes. With a smile she speaks with magic on her tongue, "Do you understand?"

The moment Cloris looked into the eyes of the monster that is Lusine, she was a goner. "Yes, Princess Lusine. I understand completely. You have my complete and utter devotion."

Lusine releases the maid's arm and turns away from her. "Good," She says suddenly, "and know that stepping out of line means a slow and painful death, Cloris."

"I understand," The girl replies.

"Oh, no you don't, my dear. You are far, too far, from ever understanding what you've just gotten yourself in for," Lusine whispers under her breath so that Cloris could not hear the mischief in her tone.

"Princess Lusine, you should go to your family. They're waiting for you so that they may leave the ship and enter Asgard to meet the royals."

"Fuck the royals," Lusine breathes, her black dress flowing out behind her in a sea of darkness, portraying the night sky when the moon decides to play hide and seek with the world, as she stormed out of her chambers to gather with her family.

in the next chapter Lusine is going to be meeting a certain God of Mischief and Lies. I literally can't wait to write this scene because there's going to be so much tension and ugh.
