She reached her hand out to the moon, as if she wanted to grab it and put it in her pocket, but it was just out of her reach.

"It's late."

It wasn't a question or a threat, it was just a simple statement. Her mind was probably playing tricks on her but he almost sounded happy.

"Ah, it is indeed late."

"The beach closed a couple hours ago."

But, he sat. An arm length away from her.

"So it did."

She hadn't been here for a few days now, things got a little complicated at her house. 

"Haven't seen you for a while."

He was curious but he didn't want to ask. 

"Did you miss me?"

She was hurting but she didn't want to show it.

"No it was peaceful"

"That's boring."

They sat like that for a few minutes, until she turned to face him.

"Hey, are you from Tennessee?"

"No why?"

"Because you're the only ten-i-see."

"That is so bad."

"Made you smile though." 

Another couple of minutes of silence, before he turned to her.

"Where were you?"

"In a complicated situation."

"Care to share?"

"Wanna date me?"

"What the heck? No."

She smiled sweetly at his surprised expression.

"There's my answer too."

A little part of him regretted saying no.
