"I had a brother."

"Had?"

"He is still alive, somewhere."

"What happened to him?"

"Before Mum died, he ran off with some girl."

"How old was he?"

"Eighteen, we couldn't do anything to stop him. He was an adult."

"How did you find out that he ran off with a girl?"

"Well, my Dad and Mum were worried sick. They asked his friends and they all said that he was secretly dating this girl, I can't even remember her name but they were living together. Somewhere in London."

"Did you visit him?"

"No but my parents did. Michael was looking after me, he was more like an uncle back then. He was just family to me."

"How old were you then?"

"My birthday recently past so I just turned twelve, I remember the night they came home. My Dad was crying and my Mum looked so angry. My Dad use to be the crier in the family, my Mum was always too stubborn to cry."

"Why did they come home in that state?"

"My brother wouldn't come home. He wanted to stay with his girlfriend."

"Did your parents not approve?"

"No, they believed in marriage first, it is about following our cultural traditions. Marriage came first."

"So, if your parents believed that then why do you hate him?"

"One night, my Mum thought it would be a good idea to drive all the way up to London. She was too stubborn to listen to my Dad who said to stay home. She went anyway while he stayed home to look after me."

"Go on, you can do it."

"When she got to his flat in London, he wouldn't let her in. To ward her off, he threw his beer bottles at her from his flat window; I think he was drunk. So, she stood there yelling at him to come down and talk to her."

"Where was his girlfriend?"

"I don't know, probably sobbing in the bathroom. She was pregnant at the time."

"Oh, I see. Go on."

"So, he is throwing beer bottle after beer bottle and one finally hits my Mum. Right on the head."

"Did she faint?"

"No, my Mum is strong. She went inside her car, he didn't even stop her. Didn't even stop her."

"What happened next?"

"She was suffering some head injuries so she felt dizzy, that was what was written in the medical report. She couldn't see the tree. Hit it straight on, died instantly."

"Do you blame him?"

"He knew he hurt her, drunk or sober. He knew he hurt her, he could have stopped her from getting in the car. He could of done anything but he didn't. He let her go."

"Was there a law suit against him?"

"An investigation was carried out and he was found not guilty."

"Did he attend the funeral?"

"No, he didn't even have the decency to go to the funeral."

"How did your father cope?"

"He blames me, if he wasn't looking after me that night, he could have saved her.She would still be alive."

"You don't believe-"

"And, I blame my Brother, if he had just stopped her from getting in that car. If he had just thought carefully and not thrown those damn beer bottles, then she would be alive. What a vicious cycle."

[1] Thank you so much for getting this book to 100K reads, this is a special update to celebrate it!

[2] I've been thinking of changing the name of this book, to something a bit more serious. Is this a good or a bad idea?
