Some time ago I read a book of Peter Parker one shots and one of the chapters is where peter has autism, I have autism and not enough people write about him having the condition so I thought I would give it a go.

Anyway on with the story.

Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication. According to the Centers for Disease Control, autism affects an estimated 1 in 59 children in the United States today.

Peter is one of those kids. He wakes up every morning with the same routine from day to night. He gets up at 8:00am on the dot not a second later or he would think he was going to be late. He gets up out of bed making it before hopping in the shower.

Peter then gets dressed in the outfit he picked out the night beforehand which is something he always does just so he's prepared for the next day. He goes back to the bathroom and brushes his hair and teeth setting a timer counting how many times he brushes each side of his mouth.

When his alarm goes off he heads to the kitchen where he sees his dad making breakfast and his mom sitting on a chair at the island with a freshly brewed coffee cup in her hand. "Good morning." He announced.

"Mornin' Pete." His dad greeted.

"Good morning sweetheart." His mom said gently kissing his forehead.

"I'm making eggs and toast for you it's almost done." Tony said.

"Peter, would you like peanut butter on your toast?" Pepper asked.

"No." He replied.

"Bud, remember what we talked about?" Tony asked, Peter contemplated on what he and his father talked about, what would that be you might ask? Peter struggles in communicating with others he tries his best to work on it but that doesn't always work. "No, thank you." He corrected.

"It's okay peter just remember next time." Peter's eyes darted from the coffee pot sending delicate smells through his nostrils to the faint buzzing of the one lights. He hated it all it would always distract him from everything else going on around him.

It would sometimes send him into sensory overload. He could hear the pan of sizzling eggs being scraped his dad was cooking. He could smell the scent of his mother's perfume she was wearing sitting about two feet away from him, he saw the light getting brighter making him feel nauseous.

"Peter, hey sweetheart are you okay?" Pepper asked, When he didn't answer they knew what to do. He was going into sensory overload.

"F. R. I. D. A. Y. activate sensory overload protocol." Tony said, When Peter goes into sensory overload he doesn't like to be touched when he's ready he'll initiate it but otherwise stay few inches away. Then he thought, I have to go to school.

"You good, Peter?" Pepper asked.

"Yes, I'm okay," He replied.

"Can I have breakfast I have to go to school in..." He trailed off looking at the clock.

"10 minutes." He concluded.

"Yes you can Peter Pan." Tony said.

"I'm not Peter Pan dad Peter Pan is a fictional character."

"I know bud, it's a nickname."

"Oh, I like it then."

"Ned and I are building a new LEGO set."

"That's cool kiddo!" Pepper exclaimed, Tony walked to the table giving peter his food which didn't touch, Peter hated when his food touched he thinks it tastes like the thing that touched it.

Peter picked up his fork and started eating not too slow but not too fast. It was in between he finished, washing his plate and setting it in the dishwasher. He then grabbed his book bag and walked to the elevator Tony and Pepper walked toward him wishing him a good day at school. "Remember if it's too much call me and I'll come excuse you." Pepper said. "Okay mom." He replied.

Peter then took the subway listening to Should I stay or should I go on his phone and got to school in time. He walked to his locker taking his books out and saw Ned and Mj standing over at Ned's locker he then walked up to his friends. "Hey Peter." Ned greeted.

"Hi loser." Mj greeted in her own Mj sort of way.

"Hello, we have chemistry first." Peter memorized his entire schedule by heart he knows the times from when class starts and ends so he and his friends walked to class. Meeting with their teacher Mr. Melendez.

"Right on time you three what, did you sleep here or use a teleportation device?" Mr.  Melendez asked jokingly. "I used a teleportation device." Peter said.

Everyone stifled a laugh either mocking him or genuinely laughing at his joke either way Peter couldn't tell the difference. "Nonsensical questions usually imply sarcasm."

"Which I found people often answer sarcastically or jokingly." He concluded.

"Good observation Peter." Mr. Melendez said smiling at the teen. A lot of people don't know peter has autism only Mr. Melendez, Ned, and Mj. He doesn't mind being different that just makes Peter....Peter.

Most of his teachers are ridiculously rude and are hard on him, peter is super smart and a good kid just because he has autism doesn't make him less than worthy to become a smart person who will succeed at anything he achieves.

"Alright class today we are working on turning water to acid so make sure you're wearing your protective gear please and thank you." There was a knock at the door Mr. Melendez opened it to see Principle Holmes. "Can Peter Parker come with me?" He asked.

Peter got up from his seat walking to the door and principal Holmes and walked to the office. He was getting a little anxious so he started counting the steps from Mr. Melendez's class to the office.

He got to the office and sat down in the chair looking at principal Holmes. "Peter there have been some....complaints from students and staff about you saying Tony and Pepper Stark are your parents and if you don't stop then you will get detention." Holmes explained.

"They are my parents my mom gave birth to me 15 years ago and these complaints are false." Peter didn't know why adults and kids in this school were calling him a liar when he wasn't. He didn't understand any of it.

"Mr. Parker you will be in detention if you don't stop now."

"You are very arrogant does that make you a good principal?" Peter asked.

"Mr. Parker this is unacceptable detention right now!" Mr. Holmes yelled.

That startled peter he left the office shaking and trembling he didn't go to detention he went straight to his friends hoping they could help. Mr. Melendez saw peter and knew he sent Ned and Mj out to him. "Hey Pete what happened?" Ned asked reaching out to him.

Peter pulled away trying to figure out what to say. Mj knew what to do only she was allowed to touch peter because whenever he would get like this she would trace his arm with her hand. "Hey peter look at me, am I allowed to help you with our mechanism?" She asked speaking softly.

Peter who was sitting on the ground by his locker nodded. She sat next to him and started stroking his arm meanwhile Ned was on the phone with Pepper and Tony who were currently on their way. Mj kept working with peter and talking to him Ned found Tony and Pepper then led them to the office to talk to Mr. Holmes. "There you go peter you're doing good."

When peter finally calmed down his hand intertwined with Mj's until Tony and Pepper came to get him. They were so angry but didn't want to show it in front of their son. Peter went home and sat with his parents in the living room. "Pete, what happened today?" Tony asked, worry lacing his every word.

"Mr. Holmes called me a liar because he didn't believe you were my parents then yelled at me and tried sending me to detention but I didn't go I went to Ned and Mj."

"Oh sweetheart I told you to call me." Pepper said massaging Peter's brown curls hearing his small hums.

"I know but I was shaking and thought I would drop my phone."

"I'm sorry kiddo."

"Can we watch The Good Doctor?" Peter asked.

"Sure sweetie."

Pepper turned on the tv to the good doctor peter loved the show because even though Shawn isn't a real person he found someone to relate to and he thought it was the most amazing thing. "I want to have a friend that has autism."

"Really?" Tony asked.

"Yes we would have the same condition and maybe they would like Star Wars as much as the golden trio do."

"We'll see Pete." Tony and Pepper looked for places that embraced people with autism and found a place to enroll peter in. Meanwhile the school was about to have a heavy law suit on their hands.
