Chapter 175: Midnight Rain A Request by aethergobrrr

Appropriately, it was a stormy day. The rain had been pouring down violently since the morning, drenching every New Yorker to the bone, whether they were carrying an umbrella or not. Peter loved days like these. It meant he was able to sleep in, read some books, catch up on some shows, just a relaxing day. The sounds of thunder striking, little flashes of lightning, and big rain droplets splash the apartment's windows. Peter was home alone, May was working late but made sure he was okay.

Good thing it was a late Saturday afternoon, Peter had been sitting on the couch, reading the newest sci-fi book he bought from Barnes & Noble. While also sipping on some vanilla chai tea, his phone began to ring. He picked it up and noticed the familiar caller I.D, he put it up to his ear and said hello. The voice on the other end answered, "Hey Peter, I'm in the neighborhood. Mind if I come over? It's rainin' cats and dogs out here!" Said a certain southern boy.

Peter chuckled, "Of course you can Harls, don't want you to get sick." Harley laughed and said he'd be at his doorstep in two minutes, and keeping his word, Harley was there, soaking wet. Peter rushed him inside, noticing the older teen shaking and shivering. He went to his bedroom and grabbed a pair of Harley's sweatpants that he left a couple of weeks ago and gave them to him.

"I uh, don't have a shirt as I'm shorter than you, but here's some pants. You can change and I'll put your clothes in the dryer." Harley nodded, having already taken off his shoes and went to the bathroom to change. When he came out, Peter was sitting on the couch, reading his book. Harley cleared his throat to get Peter's attention and when the younger boy looked up at him his face turned another shade.

Harley smirked, "Take a picture, it'll last longer." Peter blushed and went back to his book, Harley came over and sat next to Peter, looking at him, studying his expression. He knew Peter liked him, it was quite obvious from the moment they met. He liked Peter the same way, he wanted him to notice the blatant flirting, of course Peter was oblivious.

That's just how he is, but seeing how flustered Peter was getting, it made Harley laugh. It wasn't that hard to make Harley lose all focus when Peter was around, no matter what the super powered teen did, Harley was head over heels for it. His smile beamed so brightly, his laugh was the sound of music, the way he was able to make people feel good and help them.

It made Harley's heart swell with joy, in Rosehill, things were... old fashioned. Every person in that town was either a toxic manly man or a holier than thou woman. Harley hated it there, and when he moved to New York with his mom and sister Abby, the weight of that place lifted off his shoulders. He enrolled into Midtown High and the rest is history, he and Peter had what most would call it a "meet cute".

Peter was rushing through the halls and ran into Harley. Spilling his papers and whatever bit of dignity he had left, Peter frantically apologized when Harley intervened and told him it was okay. Then introduced himself, "Hey, I'm Harley. I'm also really new to this school."

Peter smiled, "I'm Peter, and I can show you around if you'd like. I'd hope it'd make up for running into you." If he wasn't so flustered, Peter would probably fall to his knees considering how weak they were. This guy had no right looking so good in his humble opinion.

Harley chuckled, "It's not every day I meet a cute boy on my first day in the big city." Peter blushed heavily at that comment but they moved on. And as years went by to the present day, their feelings for each other grew. But neither of them didn't build the up the courage to say anything, that is, until tonight. When Harley could point out each wisp of his curls, how his nose scrunched in disdain with something that happened in his book, and how his hand glided across the page.

Harley sighed, deciding enough was enough, he moved over to rest his chin on Peter's book, which stopped the boy from reading. He glanced at his friend, with a puzzled expression on his face, Harley took ahold of his book and moved it to the coffee table. Peter was even more confused, so he sat up a little, Harley inched closer, Peter felt his face heat up. What in the world was Harley doing?

Harley then leaned in and pressed his lips onto Peter's, he raised his hands, cupping Peter's face. He felt the butterflies in his stomach flutter, this was the best feeling he felt all day. This was definitely like a hallmark romance film, the classic rainy day, two teens finally admitting their feelings, and getting the happily ever after ending before rolling the end credits. They both pulled away, smiling like idiots, "It's about time I did that." Harley said.

"Yeah, yeah it is." Peter replied.

"May I interest you in a date, this Friday? If it's not raining?" Peter nodded his head in response.

"Cool, then it's a date darlin'." Peter laughed, leaning to kiss Harley's cheek, then reached for his book to continue reading. Peter thought it was a fever dream, like none of it was real, he couldn't believe his best friend actually kissed him. He was glad he somewhat listened to MJ when she said, "Just admit you like him oh my god. Or else I'm going to bang my head on the wall if I have to suffer one more day watching you both give each other heart eyes." It made Peter smile, now there was another reason to add to the list of why he loved rainy days.
