Curiosity kills the cat
A WEEK.
It has been a week since the murder at the back of an alleyway happened, and the image of the body that she saw burned in her head, a tattoo stuck in her memories, as the other dead bodies she has witnessed over the years, it never really does get easier.
While Carlisle is great at distracting her of what happened that night, she is beginning to get suspicious of him, not the suspicion of him being the murderer, but suspicion of his actions.
One. Carlisle disappears when the day is bright and early as the morning sun presents itself, and Thalia thinks it would be a beautiful day to have a picnic at the park, but Carlisle says otherwise. He reasoned that he had worked at the hospital. Thalia didn't mind. Maybe he just isn't fond of the sun.
Two. Thalia observed that Carlisle doesn't eat much. She thought that maybe he was on a diet, and when she asked about it, he did have a diet, but she noticed the disgusted look on his face when he took a bite of his food and how he gagged a bit when he chewed.
Three. His eyes turned from gold to black, and Thalia made a reason for herself that maybe it was just the light that was messing with the color of his eyes.
Four. His skin is cold, no, freezing, and Thalia made another reason for herself to calm her thoughts. Maybe he has this kind of skin condition, and she decided not to ask him about it just in case he feels uncomfortable about it.
Five. Carlisle Cullen feels like death. She had thought it the first time they had met, just a tinge of a dreadful aura, it was not dominant enough that it also made her dreadful, no, only just a pinch that keeps making itself known from time to time, and she is very thankful for that, she'll probably stop seeing him if she feels it all the time, she doesn't know what to feel death all her life, she just wants peace and serenity for a while, and Carlisle Cullen gives her the tranquility that she needs.
Thalia thought about what her grandmother, Celia, had said when she was preparing her things. "Be aware of the creatures that lurk in the dark. If we banshees exist, then there are other creatures that might exist."
Could her grandmother have known that there are other creatures here in Manhattan? If so, why did she let her come here if there were other creatures here?
On another note, Diane finally found a nice place to stay, while Thalia told her to call her if she needed help with anything, and the girl was so thankful for her professor's kindness.
Thalia then thought of an idea. She brought a book with her here just in case she does have an encounter with a creature, an ancient book that has been passed from generation to generation.
Her ancestors have thought that the future generation should not be clueless about the creatures that lurk in every corner of the world, so they created a book that a Cohen can only open to ensure the safety, content, and information that remains in the book.
From, sirens that are dangerous creatures who live on rocky islands and lure sailors to their doom with their sweet songs.
Banshees whose mournful "keening," or wailing screaming or lamentation, at night was believed to foretell the death.
Mermaids a half-human, half-fish creatures that lure human men when they are in their human form and trick them into marriage.
Faeries are also known as fairies, fey, or fae, a group of young and pure spirits; however, they are tine yet mischievous.
Gnomes were dwarf-like earth spirits that guarded underground treasures.
Goblins vary in abilities and physical appearances. They possess qualities of malice and greed and are known to be troublemakers.
Minotaur a creature with the body of a human with the head and tail of a bull.
A werewolf or lycanthropy is a human who can transform or shapeshift into a wolf every full moon.
Shape-shifters they mainly go as tribes, the legends of protecting human life in their claimed land. They protect them from the creatures called the Cold Ones.
Cold ones are another name for a "Vampire" or the "Undead," you can see the difference between them and a human. While their skin is as cold and white as snow, their immortal beauty can lure a human into their trap. With their eyes red as crimson blood or gold as honey, they don't eat or sleep.
They are frozen in time, never aging. They have different abilities or powers. They have speed and strength like no other human possesses, a human can turn into a cold one in the process of biting and letting the venom spread through their body. They say the pain is excruciating and that death is a better path.
Every description that she had read about the cold ones fitted Carlisle well, it was no doubt that he might even be one, or he is one. And she's in a state of disbelief that the person she has known for almost a month is a vampire, and that sentence in her mind just became awfully weird.
It's a little shocking, yet she accepted this fact reasonably well. She's no stranger to these things, she, a banshee, shouldn't even exist. They are supposed to be myths, folklore, and stories for children, but here she is, alive and living. She wasn't that surprised that Carlisle Cullen was a vampire. She's just scolding herself for being an idiot for not noticing it early.
Closing the book with a sigh, she locks it and tucks the key back to her necklace, and places it in the safe. This book is one of the things that is supposed to be hidden from any lingering human. If there's a fire, this is the first thing she'll grab.
Much to her other book's dismay, this is the only copy that her family has, and she needs to guard it with her life. For extra safety, the book is spelled by a witch her ancestor has known. When the book is opened by a thief or any other pesky human, the pages remain blank, like a brand new book ready to be written.
And she decided that she'll ask Carlisle.
Alice already knew, of course, she always knew these things, with her keeping in check of her visions of Thalia, the pixie-headed vampire, already informed Carlisle along with the rest of the family, much to Rosalie's dismay. Esme, Christopher, and Emmet are happy for Carlisle, Edward is skeptical.
Jasper is undecided, and the honey-blonde vampire already knows that Thalia isn't human. It was one of the facts that were keeping him from agreeing with Rosalie, a person screaming because of possible death isn't average for him, and it made him reluctantly agree with the rest.
And Carlisle Cullen is just ready to get this over with.
Author's Note:
➵I'm going to be honest, Thalia is an intelligent woman, she would've figured out Carlisle's secret the first week they have known each other, but of course, I need to delay it for a while to build the story.
➵The reveal wasn't such a big shock to her since she is part of the supernatural community. She has bumped into other creatures since she spent many times in the woods. It was a mutual understanding and respect they have with each other, so she never made any enemies with them.
