Chapter 13
Third person POV.
Femi decided to pay Kunmi a visit at the hospital, it was a Sunday morning and he wasn't going to work today.
After the usual Sunday service, he decided to get dressed and head to the hospital because Dante had already informed him that Kunmi would be discharged today and so he was in a hurry to see her before then.
Putting on a simple green t-shirt and a grey sweatpant, he grabbed his wrist watch and put on his black flip flops. He finally exited his room, grabbing his car keys with him.
"Where are you off to?" Asked his mother.
He turned around and gave her a small smile.
"I'm gong to see Kunmi" he replied.
"Okay, I will come with you. Just wait for me" she said, heading upstairs to grab a few things. Femi sighed as he sat down on the couch and waited for her.
It took a few minutes for her to get downstairs and they both exited the house.

Femi parked his car at the hospital's parking lot and got down immediately. His mother also did the same and they walked into the hospital. After speaking to the receptionist, they were directed into Kunmi's bedroom, luckily, she was yet to be discharged.
Walking into her room, Kunmi was awake. She stared at the ceiling and seemed to be lost in her thoughts.
"Kunms, how are you doing today?" He asked, taking a seat beside her.
Mrs Omashola did the same and hugged her too.
"It shall not be well with those people. All those involved with your attack will not live long" she said, making Kunmi chuckle and smile at her.
"Amen," she grinned. "Maami, I missed you" she said.
"And I missed you too. How are you?" Mrs Omashola asked.
" I'm... getting better" she said.
" Don't worry oh, it's only a matter of time before you can start walking on your own again" she said to her.
"Where is Dante?" Femi asked.
"Did you come to see Dante or me?" She asked, wearing a childish glare on her face.
"You know I came to see you. I just wanted to find out from Dante what the doctor is saying about you getting discharged today. That's all" he said.
Kunmi chuckled and then smiled at him.
"I was just joking with you. How are you doing?"
"I'm doing fine," he held her hand and smile reassuringly at her. " Don't worry, okay? Everything happens for a reason" he said to her and she nodded.
Dante soon walked into the room with his mother. As soon as they met Femi and his mother, they smiled and exchanged pleasantries with each other.
"Kunmi dear, how are you feeling?" Dante asked his kid sister and she smiled at him.
" I'm getting better, how about you guys?" She asked and they nodded their heads in response. "Where is dad? He said he'll be coming today" she asked and her mother sat beside her on her bed.
"He's coming, he's at the police station and he'll be here very soon" she said to Kunmi and Kunmi smiled at her.
"But why is he at the police station?" It was Femi's turn to ask.
" He said he wants to file a report against the people that did this to Kunmi. He'll be here soon" Mr Adebayo answered.
Kunmi managed to sit up straight with the help of Femi. It hurt him so much to know that Kunmi would have to be on wheelchair and all because of the robbers that attacked her.
"And what did the doctor say about her being discharged?" Femi asked Dante in particular.
"Well, he said that he'll have to run some more tests on her and then he'd give an injection before we can take her home. He also said that she must rest fully, that way she'll recover quicker" Femi nodded after hearing this.
"Okay, that's good" he replied.
The door came open and Mr Adebayo walked into the room with a bouquet of roses and a smile plastered to his face.
"Dad, good morning" she said, her smile still evident on her face.
"Morning dear," he said as he set the bouquet of roses by her bedside. "How are you doing today?" He asked and she nodded affirmatively.
" I'm fine, dad" she said and he nodded.
"The doctor said that he'll have to run some tests on you, so we'll be outside in the waiting room. Once he's done with that we'll take you home, okay?" He informed and she nodded her head. He got up when the doctor walked in with a nurse by his side and a clip board in hand.
"Good morning, Mr Adebayo" he greeted and proceeded to Kunmi's side with the nurse tracing behind him. "We'll have to run some tests on her now, so please it'd be better for you guys to stay outside. Once that's done, you can take her home" he said and they all nodded and exited the room.
Once in the waiting room, Mr Adebayo finally told them about what he found out at the police station.
"The officer said that someone had already filed a report against this but they weren't able to fully investigate on the matter because she didn't really have enough information about the victim and the description of how the accident took place. I think he said her name is Chioma. Yes, Chioma Aniobi, the daughter to Mr Obiora Aniobi, my business partner"he said and Femi's eyes unknowingly grew as big as saucers.
"Are you sure that's her name?" Femi couldn't help but ask.
"Yes, I'm indeed sure" Mr Adebayo replied.
Femi didn't say anything after that, but he knew he had to thank her. He thought she lacked any bit of humanity in her but seems like there was a part of her that still had emotions.
He sat down on one of the benches in the waiting room and waited like everybody else did.
~~~
Femi helped Kunmi out of the car bridal style. He placed her on her wheelchair and helped in taking her into the house. Due to the injection given to her by the doctor, she was fast asleep and clearly oblivious of the things that were happening around her.
Once inside the house, Femi offered to help take her into her room and he was granted permission by her parents.
He carried her out of the wheelchair bridal style and then climbed the twirls of stairs up to her bedroom. When he got there, he pushed open the door and lay her down on the king-sized bed that stood in the middle of the large bedroom. While trying to lay her on the bed, she snuggled on his chest and muttered some things that were incoherent to Femi. He chuckled, knowing that she had done that unknowingly, and then he lay her on the bed and exited the room.
"I'll be off now" he said to her parents and Dante. His mom had already been taken home by their family driver and he wanted to get home too, but not before seeing someone he hadn't seen in a while.
"At least stay to eat something" Mrs Adebayo insisted and he grinned.
" I'm really sorry ma but I already ate before coming over here. I promise, some other time" he said, his captivating and contagious smile still glued to his face.
"Fine" Mrs Adebayo replied and he waved her and her husband goodbye as he left the house.
Once in his car, one thing was on his mind and that was;
He had to see Chioma.
Chioma's POV.
I woke up with a slight headache this morning and the last thing I wanted was to be disturbed. As usual, I had to go to church with the rest of my family members and to be honest, I wasn't happy afterwards. Reason is because the pastor had to preach for too long that it only added to my headache. Now, coming home from church, I walked into my room and asked to not be disturbed. Not even by Amara.
And so you can imagine the anger that rose in me when I heard someone knock on my door.
The first knock was heard and I didn't answer it,
The second followed and I ignored it,
The third _ which was way louder _ was also ignored.
And the fourth _ which was also the last _ was accompanied with my mother's voice from outside.
"Nne, someone is here to see you. Please open the door" she said and then I put my face on my pillow and screamed in frustration, which only came out as muffles and also added to my headache.
"And who's that?" I asked in anger as I grudgingly got up from my bed and walked to the door.
"Just come downstairs first" mom said, in that voice I knew all too well. The kind that most Nigerian mothers use to persuade their kids into doing something they want.
I opened the door with a grunt and I stared at her with so much rage.
"Mom please, tell the person to come back later. I have a really disturbing headache" I said but I knew I was just wasting my time.
"Come and see the person first, it won't take long. Inugo? " She said and I heaved an exasperated sigh.
"fine" I replied and walked out of my room.
I muttered and murmured as I headed downstairs and when I finally got to the living room, I could only see the back view of the person. He looked familiar.
I decided to make my presence known by clearing my throat in a not-so-loud manner. When he turned around, I was ready to strangle my mother for disturbing me all because of him. She disturbed me, despite the fact that I have a huge headache, just to speak to him.
"You?!" I growled and he smiled at me, I didn't fail to notice the flowers he held in his hands either...
"Hi" he said.
