Mystic falls, 1001 AD
A warm glow filled the sky, painting it with hues of red, orange, and pink.
Awe-inspiring, calming, breathtaking.
All words that could be used to describe the sun's farewell.
Though Niklaus would prefer to use the word magical.
"Nik!" A young brunette came running across the spring fields, occasionally stopping to pick a particularly pretty flower.
The man in question tilted his head slightly, remaining in his relaxed position.
He lay flat on his back, one hand over his chest and the other splayed out above him. His curly hair had been let down, allowing it to form a halo of sorts around his head.
"Nik, there you are! Mother sent me to call for you and I looked everywhere but simply couldn't find you and- oh!" He cut himself off, reaching into his pocket to retrieve a single, albeit relatively mangled dandelion. "I almost forgot! I overheard Tatia talking to Elijah earlier about how when you make a wish and blow on this flower, your wish will come true!"
Niklaus scoffed, partially at the mention of the lovely Tatia wasting her time with his dull older brother, but mostly due to his little brother's naivety. "That's childish Henrik, nothing has the ability to make any wish come true, especially not a mere flower."
"Oh but it is true, it is!" He protested, "Elijah even agreed. You know Elijah never lies, which is why I made sure to pick one up on my here. I don't need it, but someone else might!"
"Elijah agreed?" The blonde questioned, suddenly quite intrigued. Sure he may be on the outs with his brother at the moment, but he still knew that Elijah rarely lied.
"Elijah agreed!"
He sat up now, bending his legs and resting his arms atop them, a conflicted expression apparent on his face. Henrik met him halfway, kneeling down next to him.
"Nik? What ever is the matter, brother?" He asked, noticing the way he had suddenly tensed, a blush creeping its way across his usually pale complexion.
"Maybe, just maybe, and this is obviously completely up to you but-," He stuttered slightly, not sure what the best way to put into words what he was thinking.
"Nik?"
"Well it's just that, if what you say is true-,"
"Which it is."
"Sure it is-," that earned him a glare and an elbow to the ribs from his brother, his patience for Niklaus' doubt wearing thin. "Alright, alright, fine, it's true!"
He paused for a moment, debating his options.
"Oh just spit it out Nik!"
"Fine! Would you let me be the one to use this magic flower of yours?" He spoke quickly, hoping to get the embarrassment over and done with, regretting ever bringing it up.
"Aww, does little Nikky want to make a wish?" Henrik mocked.
"Forget I asked!"
"No, no, I'm joking!" He swiftly clarified, not wanting to genuinely cause his big brother upset. "Of course you can use it Nik, if anyone deserves a little magic, it's you."
Now didn't that just warm Niklaus' heart, his little brother was the best of them, that's for sure.
"Thank you.." he whispered softly, a sheepish smile etched onto his face.
"You're welcome!" Henrik responded, handing his brother the delicate flower, before rushing off. Presumably to let their mother know that they were on their way.
He watched him go, waiting until he was fully out of site before making his way over to a nearby lake. The sunset reflected beautifully in the water, occasional ripples from the tide only adding to the beauty.
There he stood, unsure of how to proceed. Perhaps he should have asked Henrik to be a bit more specific, for now he was left with a multitude of questions.
Does he have to blow all the seeds off or just some? Should he make his wish before, or after doing so? Or maybe whilst? Oh, and was he to speak it aloud, or silently in his head?
Shaking his head slightly, Nik's thoughts drifted over to Elijah, the man he was once close with who had now grown estranged. Kol as well, though he hadn't been particularly close with him to start with. Not to mention Finn, his eldest brother who often appeared cold and distant nowadays.
In a lightbulb moment, inspiration struck and he now knew exactly what he would be wishing for.
"I wish for one day, there to be something that will reunite me and my siblings, join us together and help us be something we haven't been for a long time, a family."
With that, he gently blew onto the flower, it's seeds dispersing and flying away, lost to the summer breeze.

Kol huffed in annoyance, he had been at this spell all day, yet still, no luck.
Maybe he was just pronouncing some of the words wrong? Impossible. He had double checked everything what felt like a thousand times, he would have noticed had he made a mistake.
Frankly, he was considering giving up entirely, when a lone seed floated down onto the page of his grimoire. It looked to be that of a dandelion.
Tilting his head slightly, he leaned in, inspecting it further. It had landed directly above a phrase in the ingredients section.
Irritated, Kol lifted it off the book. Seriously, he had allowed himself to be distracted by a meagre seed? Pathetic. If he were to become the most powerful warlock someday, he would have to learn to focus more on his studies.
Gazing once again at the ingredients, he came to a realisation.
"Aha!" He cried in triumph, this entire time he had simply been using the wrong herb.
Thank the gods the seed had landed there, it's unlikely he would have ever figured it out otherwise.
Maybe it wasn't so meagre after all.

Eijah was engaged in a conversation with Tatia,Β though if he were honest, he was more interested in her beauty. Finding himself enthralled by her sweet, honey-like voice and her pink-tinted lips.
Amidst his observation of the brunette, he discovered a small seed which had somehow woven its way into her silky hair.
He reached out, hesitantly removing it, allowing his fingers to remain a second longer than they had to.
"Elijah? Is there something wrong with my hair?"
"Hmm? No, no, sorry there was just a seed is all."
"Oh, well that's quite alright then." She responded with an angelic looking smile, intertwining her fingers with his and moving his hand back towards her.
The man took this as a sign, allowing his hand to brush through her hair, guiding her head toward his shoulder.

Finn sat atop a rock, occasionally leaning downwards to pick up pebbles and skim them across the lake. A dark feeling of loneliness engulfed him, his eyes holding a far off look.
It was moments like these that he longed for his older sister, the girl he had once called his bestfriend.
If he listened closely, he could still hear her voice, hear her everlasting laughter and joy.
Though of course, it was all an illusion. For she was gone, long gone, and there was nothing that he or anyone else could do about it.
He hadn't much time to reflect on these thoughts, for as he reached towards another stone, a single seed fell onto his hand.
The man allowed himself a small smile at that, nature never failed to brighten up his day, if only slightly.
With careful hands, he placed it in the ground and built up the soil around it, desperately trying to remember everything his mother had ever taught him about gardening.
Unfortunately, that knowledge had mostly just been passed down to Rebekah and so he wasn't sure that he was helping at all, though he hoped dearly that it would assist the seed in it's growth.

"Nik! Are you done yet? Mother is starting to get antsy."
Henrik appeared in the clearing, this time with Rebekah in tow. They allowed their linked hands to swing between them as they practically skipped down a slope towards their older brother.
"Perfect timing, I've just finished."
"Well?" Rebekah started, curiosity getting the better of her.
"Well what?"
"Well, what did you wish for?" Henrik finished, wondering the exact same as his sister.
"Now if I told you, it wouldn't come true."
His statement earned joint whines, his siblings obviously not pleased with his vague answer.
"I'm sorry! I didn't make the rules." Niklaus joked, finding their complaints thoroughly amusing.
"Whatever, we must hurry, we don't want dinner to go cold." Rebekah reminded with a roll of her eyes, moving forward as thought preparing herself to run ahead. Her plait flicked over shoulder, revealing the abundance of vibrant flowers which had been braided into her hair earlier by some friends in the village.
"Wait!" He shouted, one of them had stood out to him, evoking fascination and awe in his mind.
"What now?"
"That flower, the pink one, what is it?"
"You mean this one?" She questioned, delicately lifting her hair and pointing to one of the ones twisted in at the bottom.
"Yes, I've never seen anything like it before." He confirmed his gaze never once deterring from the plant.
"That's because Ayanna only recently started growing them, they don't grow naturally around here." Rebekah explained, "Chrysanthemum she called them."
"Chrysanthemum, what a beautiful name." He muttered, the word repeating in his mind like a blessing, a prayer. He thought the flower to be the most radiant thing he had ever had the pleasure of laying eyes on.
Rebekah hummed, somewhat disturbed by her brothers odd behaviour and googly eyes over a random plant.
"If Nik is done being the village weirdo, can we finally go and get dinner now? I'm starving!" Henrik exclaimed, dramatically flopping onto Rebekah, leaving her to carry his entire body weight.
Niklaus scoffed, placing a hand over his heart. "You wound me Hen, truly."
The brunette shoved him before running away giggling, resulting in his older brother chasing him through the fields. Rebekah soon joined in, and eventually they found themselves holding hands as they journeyed back to their hut, laughing all the way.

-Out of curiosity, is anyone interested in me finding a way to bring Henrik back and making him a soulmate? Or would you prefer for me to leave it as just the original four?
Any feedback is appreciated, I would love to hear your thoughts!
