THIRD PERSON POV
"Y'know (Y/N), it's wrong for such a pretty lady like yourself to be in here alone. Wouldn't you enjoy some company from a handsome man such as myself?" (Y/N) giggled. She knew his shenanigans, being as he normally liked to tease her, but that didn't make it any less flirty than the first time he had attempted to do so.
"Sylvain, stop it! You freaking tease." (Y/N) muttered under her breath as Sylvain laughed, taking a seat next to the (E/C) eyed girl inside the dining hall.
"You know you love it." Sylvain winked suggestively, his voice hot and honeyed. "Seriously though, what're you doing here? It's late."
"I was trying to study. Just being all cooped up in my room gives me the jitters, you know? It's much more calming being in here for some reason." She gestured to the few history books that laid across the long table. The subjects of the books were widely different from one another, from history to war tactics.
"Why did the professor have to assign so many readings?" (Y/N) groaned at her rhetorical question. "I really need to relax more."
Sylvain smirked playfully. "Well I think I can quite easily show you some ways to rela-"
"Ahem."
Two cold hands grasped her frail shoulders with a gentle yet firm hold. She couldn't see it, but she could feel his golden gaze glaring daggers into the man aside from her. (Y/N) let out an visible shiver as droplets of sweat began to manifest on her body.
"O-oh, Hubert! It's nice to see you!" She turned around and gave a sickly sweet grin, but the man wasn't amused by her shenanigans.
"My sweet darling, would you be so kind as to leave me and Sylvain alone for some time? He and I need to have a talk." The redhead audibly gulped at his harsh tone, knowing full well what Hubert von Vestra was capable of. Hubert wasn't exactly Lady Edelgard's retainer for no reason. His words also worried (Y/N), who simply nodded and shakily sat up and took a few steps outside of the dining hall, before hastily returning back to her dorm room.
He only used that nickname when he was angry. And boy was he pissed.
Hubert frowned the moment (Y/N) had left the area, immediately darting his deadly stare towards the utter filth called a human being. Sylvain scratched the back of his neck and looked away from the tall man looming over him like a shadow. "Look Hubert, I know she's your girl, and I respect that. But we're friends and I was only-"
"Shut up and follow me." The purple orb slowly gaining energy in his right hand was enough of a warning for Sylvain to agree.

Knock. Knock. Knock.
(Y/N) shivered under the warmth of her blankets and rubbed her eyes. It had been hours since Hubert... Forcefully asked her to leave the dining hall, and she hasn't heard anything from him since. Maybe he had just given a small talk to Sylvain, just like he said he would.
Granted it may have been just a string of hope, but it was enough for her to hold onto.
Her dorm room door creaked open, one golden eye standing out amongst the pitch black night. The man stepped inside, the hair covering his other eye slowly swaying in the midnight breeze.
"Hubert? Why are you still awake?" (Y/N) questioned her significant other, slowly gaining the energy needed to sit up. In response, the man created a small ball of light that rose next to his head, dim enough to just barely illuminate her small room.
"I have something to show you."
"It's midnight though..." Despite making the small comment, the (E/C) eyed girl reluctantly brushed down the edges of her nightgown and slipped on her shoes. Following him outside of her room and down the stairs, (Y/N) continued to walk by his side.
The two walked up to a person with mangy brown hair and eyes, their eyes crinkling with a sympathetic look. Another merchant, although he never sold anything. He mostly just stood around in that area, or would have the occasional conversation with the professor. Most students were wary of him and his suspicious behavior, so they tended to avoid him. (Y/N) was one of these students.
Hubert nodded, and in return the shifty merchant nodded back and stepped to the side, allowing the small entrance down to the abyss visible. The tall man bent his head down momentarily and walked in, motioning for (Y/N) to follow. (Y/N) complied. She didn't think much from the underground area, but was still curious as to why he had her wander inside.
Just as she had expected, the inside of the abyss was a damp and musty place, the occasional dirty rat running around with a few tattered market stalls nearby. But no one was nearby. Not a soul to be seen. The only sound was her heavy breathing and the small cackling of candles scattered around.
"Where are we going?" The (H/C) haired girl asked in a hushed whisper, not daring to speak louder than needed.
"Be quiet (Y/N)." His breath hit her ear and sent shivers down her spine. Hubert grinned at her reaction, a teasing smirk decorating his features. "We're almost there."
A few minutes had passed after their short exchange of words, and before she knew it they had arrived. All that laid before them was a tiny room, no bigger than a broom closet. A metallic smell hit her nostrils.
Was what this place? Hubert replied to her silent question before she even had a chance to speak. "Look down."
She did as Hubert said. Then immediately vomited on the ground. The mostly liquid vomit splattered the floor of the abyss and a sour smell wafted through the area.
"I knew he was a danger to Lady Edelgard the moment he transferred to the Black Eagles. He'd been friends with that Dimitri for far too long, it was obvious he had joined to get closer to you. It was only an extra thing between us that we didn't need."
(Y/N)'s blood ran cold as the crimson red liquid seeped through the cracks of the stone floor. It didn't even look human. From the harsh and recent burn marks that melted the skin down to bone, to the electricity that cackled around the fallen figure, still causing their limbs to twitch ever so slightly. (Y/N) wanted to move, but found she was stuck. Her legs couldn't find the force to support her weight and she crumpled down, only to be caught by Hubert.
He was unfazed by her shock, seemingly expecting her to react like she did. Hubert proceeded to wipe away the small bits of bile away from her cheek with his gloved thumb and help her back up on her feet.
(Y/N) knew their relationship was a little unhealthy, but she was far too scared to even bring up the idea of leaving him. Hell, the whole reason she had agreed to become his girlfriend was out of fear of what he'd do if she said no. She had learned a long time ago that it was easiest to comply, obey, say yes. Hubert was gentle most days, his only desire keeping the love of his life safe from any outside danger. his kisses were rough and bruising, and his hands left marks more often than not, but he wasn't malicious - he was just obsessed.
But to think he would go as far as to murdering a classmate from his own house... It just tore her fragile mind into bits.
"He had said some strange things moments before his death." A smirk laced with an sinister and ecstatic feeling graced his face. His tone would've been somewhat serene, if not for the twisted adoration that laced every syllable.
"Saying how mad I was for doing such a thing, how Rhea would punish the Black Eagles if she found out. What utter nonsense."
Long, slender fingers followed the curve of (Y/N)'s jaw until they rested on her lips, tracing them with a fleeting touch from both his forefinger and his thumb, admiring the soft, plump skin he loved to kiss so much. Lips practically made to fit his, to say his name, to laugh and to smile - everything. He adored it. It was one of his favorite parts about her.
Hubert paused for a split second before he chuckled under his breath. "That fool was right about one thing however..." his voice came out as a sort of purr as he took (Y/N)'s chin between his fingers, tugging her body closer to his.
"You need someone to save you from this wretched world. And I think I'll do an excellent job of doing so, wouldn't you agree, my dear?"
She smiled with tears in the corners of her eyes. "Of course, I'm all yours."
The room was filled with silence once more as the two of them hugged - one out of pure love and admiration, the other out of fear. "I'm glad you said yes, my dear. I know you won't disappoint me."
Being in a relationship with Hubert was just like walking on a tightrope. Even the slightest misstep would send you crashing down. Not even a fray out of place. Now, if he ended up causing the rope to break, well...
He wouldn't mind being the one to catch her.
