I

On the morning of Johnathan Scaletta's eleventh birthday, the boy in question awoke with a fright when his sister, thirteen year old Caterina, and his father, Luca, burst through the door of the boys bedroom, nearly tripping over the fallen down books and sprawled out clothes. Besides the mountain of books, it was a typical boys room.

A stereo system with a cassette player and a record player sat in the corner, the shelves next to it filled with various albums from various bands. Posters of Blondie, Queen, David Bowie and other artists hung from the walls, as well as movies posters and football posters.

"Happy birthday, Fratellino!" Caterina said cheerfully. She jumped on the bed next to her younger brother, pulling him into a tight head lock and ruffling his hair.

"Gerroff me," Johnny grumbled, using some force he pushed Caterina off the bed, and she hit the floor with a loud thud. The two siblings broke into fits of giggles, with their father watching on with a smile. Luca set Johnny's present down in his lap, taking a seat by his son's side.

Luca watched as Johnny's eyes widened in excitement, his hands trembling with anticipation. The young boy tore open the wrapping paper with eagerness, revealing a sleek and shiny Sony Walkman.

"Is this what I think it is?" Johnny exclaimed, his voice filled with awe.

Luca nodded with a smile on his face. "Yes, my boy. It's a Walkman. I know how much you love music, and I thought this would be the perfect gift for you."

Caterina, intrigued by the device, leaned closer to take a look. "Can I see, Johnny?"

Johnathan grinned and handed the Walkman to his sister. She fiddled with the buttons and placed a random cassette into the holder and soon the sound of "Easy Lover" by Phil Collins and Phillip Bailey filled the room, bringing smiles to their faces.

Johnny and Caterina stayed up in the room for another half an hour before Luca called them down for breakfast.

Luca had made pancakes with eggs and bacon for Johnny's birthday, a rarity in the household as he was normally working. As they laughed and chatted, a sudden knock at the door interrupted their conversation. Johnathan's father, Luca, glanced at his eldest child with a puzzled expression. "Who could that be so early in the morning?"

Curiosity piqued, they made their way to the front door, exchanging glances. Luca opened the door, revealing an unexpected visitor standing on their doorstep. It was an older lady, a stern-looking woman with a sharp gaze and a cloak draped over her shoulders with a pointy hat.

"Good morning," the woman greeted them, her voice carrying an air of authority. "I apologise for the early visit, but I have some important news to deliver."

The Scaletta family exchanged bewildered glances, unsure of what to make of this unexpected encounter. "Who are you?" Luca asked, his voice tinged with skepticism.

"I am Professor McGonagall, from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry," she replied, her tone unwavering. "And I am here to inform Mr. Scaletta that he is a wizard, and has been accepted into our school."

The family exchanged stunned looks, their skepticism giving way to disbelief. "A wizard?" Caterina exclaimed, her voice filled with confusion.

Professor McGonagall smiled kindly, her expression softening. "Being magical is not dependent on your parents' abilities. It is something that resides within each individual. Johnathan has shown great potential and it is our duty to nurture and guide him in his magical journey."

"This some sort of joke?" Luca asked. "Did Joe Barbaro send you?"

The professor extended her hand, revealing a wand held firmly within her grasp. With a flick of her wrist, she conjured a small flame that danced at the tip of her wand. The Scaletta family watched in awe as the flame twirled and flickered, illuminating the morning darkness.

The skepticism that once lingered in their minds vanished, replaced by amazement.

Johnathan's eyes widened, a mixture of excitement and disbelief filling his gaze. He took a step forward, extending his hand towards Professor McGonagall. "I... I believe you," he whispered, his voice filled with newfound hope and anticipation.

Professor McGonagall nodded, a warm smile gracing her lips. "Welcome to the magical world, Johnathan. Hogwarts awaits you."
