it was when demetri was new into the guard that his fascination for heejin began.

he followed her everywhere she went. when another vampire said something to her he was the one to kill them right away while she stood in front of caius, aro and marcus, explaining everything and taking the blame, saying she ordered demetri to kill them.

their weird friendship was based off of favors in the beginnings, when demetri did something that would get him killed, she was there to safe him. after all, she was the one that turned him in the first place.

when he was human he was observed by her, the way he knew which people were rich and which were poor. the way he so easily tracked the rich and stole from their pockets without them even knowing, the money, the jewelry, the things that made money easily without questions.

she admired him, thinking he was very smart at the age of sixteen, but he was still a kid. she didnt want to rip his childhood away from him, no matter how miserable he might have found it.

it was when he was finally found by the rich when he was dying, for heejin it was no problem, freezing two of the man while she killed the other with the flick of her wrist, breaking his neck before he went thundering down the floor.

she bit his shoulder, his wrist, along with his arm, just to make sure he would really turn into a vampire and not die as a pathetic human.

truth be told, she hated humans like her life depended on it but after two thousand years she came to accept them even tho they got more annoying than before every generation.

"jane!" the asian girl calls out, hurrying after her adoptive sister in her black heels and her black flowy dress, "oh sister i have exciting news!"

jane waits for her, a soft smile on her face, "tell me, what is so exciting that happened to you?"

"i have finally agreed." she states with a big smile, "i have agreed to let him court me!"

janes face - that held confusion at the beginning - morphed into recognition, "so he did what i told him to!"

"what?" heejin asked confused, "never mind that. clear is that demetri has asked me yet again to allow me to court him and this time i said yes." her face proud of having stood strong against the blonde boy for so long.

"i am proud of you sister." jane says, looping her arm with heejin's.

"who's proud of who?" alec asked, a teasing smile on his lips as he turned the corner with his speed and heejin loops her arm with his, on either side was one of the 'witch twins'.

"jane is proud of me!" heejin informs him, "i have withstood him for so long but his adorable face that lights up every time he sees me has broken my high walls."

"oh you're so love sick, sister." alec chuckles.

"i am not! you would understand the day you meet your mate!" she pesters him, a nasty look on her face which made him laugh.

jane kept quiet before she lowly spoke up, "well? are you two mates then?"

heejin tensed, "of course we are." she responds, her head held high as she looks forward.

"do not lie sister." alec calls her out.

"right, you are bad at lying." jane agrees.

"i am not lying, so please reefer from saying such." heejin asks politely.

"now you're polite?" jane asks, "you arent usually polite with your siblings."

heejin sighs, "fine.. i thought it would be best to try it out before i'll tell him he isnt my mate."

"you didnt tell him yet?" alec asked her, she grits her teeth her sharp crannies showing as she lets a low growl out.

she snatch both her arms away from theirs as she stand still, the siblings simply turning around and stare at her, "dont ask such nonsense questions! i came to that decision, if you do not like it then look the other way and forget about it."

jane's face turns into confusion, "claire.. we we're simply making sure."

"well, dont." she states, "i do not like it when you do. both of you."

with that she turns around and walks to her quarters, wanting nothing more than to paint now that she has time to spend other than her siblings.

heejin remembers the day as if it was a few days ago, it was the day she had finally said yes to demetri. allowing him to court her. and it was the day she had her first fight with jane and alec after five-hundred years.
