Chapter 53
Chapter 53 - Swallowed by Darkness
Frustrated, Y/n leapt away from Dabi as he unleashed another wave of fire, his flames scorching the air around her. Her wings beat the air, sending a gust of wind that knocked the flames aside. She scowled at him, frustration lacing her features.
Toga, watching from the side, whined in disappointment. "You're no fun if you won't even let me stab you!" she pouted, her voice dripping with childish frustration.
Y/n scoffed in response, her wings flaring wide with indignation as her gaze snapped to Toga. "I don't want to be burned, idiot," she snapped, her voice sharp with annoyance. She wasn't in the mood for their games—she had no intention of letting them get the upper hand.
In a swift motion, Y/n snapped her wings down forcefully, sending a wave of air that sent the flames back towards Toga. The fire caught her off guard, and Toga cried out in pain, her skin burning as the flames licked at her clothes.
"Toga!" Dabi shouted, his eyes widening in panic. He rushed to her side, his flames swirling around him as he extinguished the fire with a wave of his hand. The moment the flames died down, he turned to Y/n, his expression shifting. His usual intensity softened, replaced with something much gentler, almost pleading.
"I love you," he confessed, his voice low and earnest. "You know I wouldn't hurt you." His words hung in the air, laden with an emotion Y/n couldn't quite decipher, but it was clear his feelings were far deeper than she had expected.
Y/n's heart clenched, but she held her ground, narrowing her eyes. "You can't expect me to stay after everything you've done."
With a resigned sigh, Dabi seemed to deflate, his gaze falling to the ground for a moment before he looked back at her. "Fine," he muttered, almost too quietly. "Leave."
The words stung, but Y/n didn't flinch. She turned on her heel, her wings unfolding behind her as she soared into the sky, leaving the chaos behind her.

You found yourself once again surrounded by the comforting presence of your classmates. Aizawa, his eyes dark with worry, approached you with a mixture of relief and exasperation. His strong arm wrapped around your shoulders in a familiar, protective gesture. "You shouldn't be scaring us like this, L/N," he scolded, his voice firm yet filled with an underlying affection. "It's not healthy for any of us."
His words hung in the air, and for a brief moment, his gaze softened, his concern for you clear. As his eyes met yours, a subtle warmth spread across his face, and you caught a glimpse of something deeper—a quiet happiness at seeing you safe and whole.
You chuckled softly, feeling a light blush creep across your cheeks. "Sorry, Aizawa-sir," you murmured, looking away slightly to hide your flustered expression. Aizawa shook his head, his eyes filled with an unreadable emotion.
Before either of you could say anything more, the sound of footsteps interrupted the moment. The No. 1 hero, All Might, appeared with his usual radiant smile, though it didn't quite reach his eyes as it normally did. "Good, you're here," he greeted, but before he could say anything further, a dark, foreboding portal ripped open in the air.
The eerie light that poured from it circled around you, and you froze, heart skipping a beat as a cold chill ran down your spine. Uraraka's voice trembled in uncertainty. "U-Uhh, Y/n, is that... normal?"
Panic surged through the group as the light continued to swirl around you. Your friends' eyes were filled with confusion and worry, but before anyone could react further, the chilling voice of Kurogiri echoed from the portal. "You're not getting away this time."
A deep sense of dread washed over you as you instinctively tried to move, but the light seemed to pull you in with an unseen force. You couldn't break free, couldn't even warn them in time.
In a flash, the portal sealed itself, swallowing you whole.
Silence fell over the group. The air was thick with shock and helplessness. Aizawa was the first to recover, his face hardening as the realization hit. "Move, now!" he barked, his voice sharp and commanding. "We don't have much time. Get ready for a rescue mission."
The group wasted no time. They knew the stakes had just been raised—Y/n's life was on the line, and they wouldn't rest until they had you back safely.
