PROLOUGE

Xavier's mansion was a place of education, a place of love and warmth too. Most of the teachers expressed this to their students, all except Hank McCoy. When Logan went back in time to stop the sentinels destroying mutant kind, he never expected to meet the Hank McCoy he did at that same mansion. He expected a cold and brooding being covered in blue fur, but no; what he met was a man, with kind eyes and pink blushed cheeks... it made him uneasy to say the least, seeing the moody and almost cold hearted mutant he was met before seem so kind and caring.

it wasn't until he got back that he knew why Hank was like that in the past, and now the future. The professor told him everything, so he was up to date on the new future.

Her name was Eloise Bennet.

The professor went into great detail about the girl, her looks and her personality... According to him, she was a mutant too; one who, much like Hank himself, was ashamed of herself what she was.

However, she wasn't ashamed of what she could do. Logan was drastically puzzled by this, a mutant who was proud of what she could do, but ashamed of what she was. The Professor joked with the man, saying how even he himself couldn't understand the girl, with her impenetrable mind, her forever changing attitude (and how it changed depending on who she was with) and, most importantly, what it was that Logan changed to stop her following in Erik's, or as he preferred at that time, Magneto's footsteps.

you see, before Logan went back in time, and even before Hank became the brooding man consumed with loathing and anger, there was a moment. one single moment. a moment that changed Eloise's life, and Hank's too. One moment that stopped Eloise leaving, stopped her from joining Magneto and meeting her then well deserving demise. One moment that let her stay, that prevented Hank from forever being alone, that kept the two together.

that one moment that stopped it all was, in a word, pathetic. so pathetic it should have never made as much of an impact as it did.

in the timeline that moment took place, it caused havoc (but somehow, Alex wasn't involved). it changed Eloise's perception of good and evil, it changed the was she viewed the world, it changed the way that she would forever love her life. That one, pathetic moment... cost thousands of lives. But that one pathetic moment was like a domino... one falls, the rest fall with it.

But that one timeline they were now in, where that pathetic moment didn't happen, Hank was happy. no more moody Dr McCoy for the students (even though here they had never had that version of him). Eloise had always been the light of his life, and would be until the end of time.

In this story, i will tell you about the days, months and years that lead up to that one moment... but you won't know which timeline this story takes place in until you get there.

will it be the happy timeline where everything falls perfectly into place? will it be the timeline where one single mutant kills thousands of mutants and humans alike over something that never should have happened? or will it be the story of both?

i guess we'll find out...
