17 | The little girl inside

"Are we going to the dorm now?" Arin runs to catch up with Jimin. Jimin looks back at her, shaking his head. "Home. Your home."
"Nooo...You don't even know where it is." Arin whines. "The manager does," Jimin says, nonchalantly shrugging.
"No, let's go to the dorm. I don't wanna go home yet!"
"It's past your college time, I don't want your family to worry about you," Jimin says, opening the door of the car and sitting inside. Arin sits beside him and mumbles, "They don't! Plus, I need to see Jungkook— I have my project at the dorm too!"
No answer. The manager starts driving the car.
"Don't you think Jungkook's tattoos are too cool? Just imagine how awesome those would look if he would wear a leather jacket...with blue hair? Blonde? No, maybe black would be fine since I don't want to die yet." Arin says, laughing at her own joke. Jimin rolls his eyes, headache, the girl is a headache.
Arin hesitatingly places her hand on Jimin's but as soon as she touches him, he jerks his hand away from her. "Can you stop?" Jimin looks at her with annoyance filled in his eyes, "Don't you think you've played around enough? Quit the game, because the situation is serious! No one has time to entertain your childish games and stupid whining! Grow up and look at what others are going through! Do you think I will tolerate everything because you're my soulmate and I am supposed to like you? Guess what, I won't and I don't!"
Arin stares at her feet. Her lips quiver, tears threatening to fall. Jimin sighs, looking out of the window. The manager takes a turn, when Arin perks up, "My house is the other way..."
The manager nods, "I know, we need to pick Hoseok up though. He needs to go in that direction too."
Arin nods, understandingly. She glances at Jimin who refuses to look at her. She is starting to hate how he acts like she's not facing any problem because of this. She's had enough of this.
When the car halts in front of the dorm, Jimin is quick to get off the car and strut towards the door when Arin grips his wrist midway.
"What type of person do you think I am?" her chest is heaving, Jimin looks at her, slightly baffled.
"And what about being soulmates? I know you don't like me, and I never expected you to either. Because I don't expect myself to love you in any other way I do now either. You are a person I find comfort in— can't you appreciate my presence in the slightest manner. I don't know if we are breather soulmates but I don't think we are because it is just a bunch of crazy words across our wrists that can be hidden with makeup or clothes. Forget that, I have seen these words disappear with time. Is that what you want? Not a single trace of having me is your soulmate? Is that how much you hate me?"
Jimin stares at her hard, his mind replaying her words. Arin breathes before saying in a relatively calm voice, "I don't want you to love me, keep me with you all the time but you need to quit your hate game. I never intended to hinder your life. Find a lover, have children— live it however you want, I won't care...but don't disregard me just because you hate being bound to me."
With that Arin turns around to walk back to the car. Jimin sighs, taking her wrist and pulling her inside with him.
Hoseok was lying on the couch, smiling at his phone and Jungkook was in the same position but lying on the floor. The sound of something frying could be heard from the kitchen which she assumed would be Jin. On hearing the door click shut, Jungkook looked up and upon seeing Arin, he smiled. However, it wasn't his genuine and caring one.
Oh no, trouble.
"Oh Arin!" he stands up and walks towards her, "I was thinking about you actually."
Arin points at herself, "Me?"
Jungkook nods before placing his hands on each of her shoulders, "Yes, about how–" then he takes her into a headlock, "You decided to steal my white t-shirt, just to use it as a canvas for your assignment."
"How did you even know?" Arin hisses, tapping his arm to let her off. "You have so many white tees!"
Jungkook scoffs, "You had the audacity to leave your project here and then ask me how did I know!"
"You have like fifty of them!" she groans, trying to apply some force to get out of his hold. If it was some other day, she might have enjoy being against Jungkook's arms but he's too strong to actually enjoy it. "Alright I am sorry," she gives up and Jungkook releases his hold on her, "I would tell you next time before taking it."
"That–" Jungkook huffs, "is not my point!"
Arin pokes her tongue out to tease and shrugs before trudging off to the kitchen. Jungkook sighs and then looks at Jimin. "You look a little out of it Hyung, everything okay?"
"Yeah I am," Jimin nods then licks his lips. "When did you and Arin get so close?"
"Ahh, that..." Jungkook scoffs as he remembers, "Your soulmate thinks that my room is a hotel where she can come and stay everytime you refuse to open your door for her."
Jimin looks at Arin who is trying to peak over Jin's shoulder to see what he is cooking while Jin keeps blocking her view. Jungkook follows his sight and laughs, "She's so annoying but," and then looks at his Hyung, "She's fun to be around, pure-hearted and cute too. Good for you, Hyung," the younger winks before walking to the kitchen too.
"Let me see!" she whines. Jin chuckles, "I will allow you if you let me flick your forehead,"
"Why?"
"Because you made a mess of the laundry yesterday." Jin simply says.
"That was not my mistake!" Arin throws her arms up in surrender, "Yeontan made a mess so I was chasing him to make him stop." Hoseok laughs at that.
"Don't blame the poor dog, he already misses his daddy because he's not able to live with them. You were the one who kept poking him while he was sleeping so, of course, he would run away from you," Jungkook says and takes out a carton of milk from the fridge.
Jin shrugs and Arin's eyes turn towards Jungkook. He ignores and starts drinking the milk from the carton while his phone is up in his hand as if he's texting someone.. He side-eyes the girl who is slowly coming closer to him. Before he could react, she snatches his phone from his hand and runs away.
Jungkook stops drinking and wipes his mouth, "Hey! Give it back!" he shouts and runs behind Arin.
"Arin, stop running and give his phone back to him, you will throw up at this rate,"Jimin sternly says, snatching Jungkook's phone from her hand.
"Throw up? Why? Are you sick?" Jungkook takes the phone back and sits on the couch, pushing Hoseok's leg down.
Hoseok suddenly snaps out of his daze and says, "Oh you're here already. Let's go."
Arin nods, looking back at Jimin once before blowing a flying kiss to everyone else. "Adios, amigos everyone."
And she's out of the house.
When Hoseok and her sit in the car, Hoseok asks her about her family.
"I have a sister, Era. My parents didn't like that we studied something against their wishes and we couldn't bear hearing the nagging daily so we moved out."
That's why she's a burden on Era, she knows that. She has to take care of her as well.
"But isn't it better to do what you want to?" Hoseok shrugs.
Arin nods, "They mainly have an issue with the career choices. We get paid little for all our hard work. They don't find it efficient."
"In that manner, no job would ever be efficient...we always think we work more than we get paid." Hoseok sighs.
Arin gives him a tight-lipped smile. She really finds Hoseok's presence pleasant and comforting and is reminded why she's found comfort in them in the first place.
They make her feel like she's cared. She's a human. Someone normal.
She hates the way Jimin thinks of her because if she wanted, she could have barged into each member's lives and asked them all those questions her little fangirl inside has yet she chose to respect them as humans. She did not do it as a favour, that's how normal humans should act. That's her point.
She is normal, a human. She has so far lived knowing when to cross boundaries and when to not. She may appear childish but it is just her.
And if he can't love her the way she is, then let the universe put death in front of her— she would never ever be with him.
