shinra was practically skipping on his way back home despite the large baggage he's currently carrying, so excited and ready to see (y/n)'s smile again, and just that thought alone got himself totally baffled. i really do admit that she looks pretty, especially with a smile on, but am i supposed to be saying this? feeling this, rather? he asked himself inside his head as his skips turned to steady walks.

"now that i think about it, i've been feeling all warm and fuzzy inside whenever i'm around her." shinra mumbled to himself with his eyes glued on his pathway back to (y/n)'s somehow large apartment. the grocery store wasn't that much of a distance from her home, so it should take just a few minutes to get there.

shinra scoffed at his own statement. "but having such feelings... seems absurd, doesn't it, shinra?" he said to himself, the tone of his voice turning low every word, but when he caught a glimpse of (y/n)'s apartment, he immediately ran towards it. however, it wasn't because of happiness.

"oh my god. it's (l/n)-chan..."
"someone call an ambulance! quick!"

those statements alone got his adrenaline going awfully quick to the point he unconsciously dropped the groceries he bought for the both of them on his way to (y/n)'s aid.

everything was weird for him. a sudden large crowd in front of (y/n)'s house, vehicles constantly moving, and most importantly, (y/n)'s apartment that was currently left in flaming ruins. shinra disregarded them, though, for his mind was filled with nothing but her, the girl she refused to love because of their different dimensions.

"(y/n)!" he yelled out loud as he reached (y/n)'s location, and heck, when shinra's crimson-colored eyes landed on (y/n)'s lifeless figure, he felt extremely angry inside. angry because of the fact that he prioritized his task more than prioritizing the person he's ought to protect, but despite that anger of his, tears started brimming out of his now swollen eyes. "n-no. you can't die..." he mumbled as he got on his knees, gently pulling (y/n) out of the pile of ablaze wood and bricks and to his arms, and there he saw the female's sweetest smile despite all the damage she received.

"y-you know... i never told you this, shinra, but ever since the very beginning..." (y/n) paused, unable to continue with her words due to the shortness of breath, yet her smile never faded away. meanwhile, the black-haired male kept on sobbing as his eyes landed on hers, waiting for her to finish her sentence. "this world... it was never b-big enough for the two of us." (y/n) stuttered the final piece of her statement, which caused shinra to cry out loud, not wanting to hear any of these from her anymore, yet his tears seems to have stopped him on taking action about that matter.

"i figured that th-this is the only... way to make things right. fortunately, someone had the plan to eliminate me while... you were away." she softly but weakly giggled, and just hearing (y/n)'s voice crack every single time made him tremble in fear and agony.

"stop saying things like these! you're gonna survive, (y/n). i swear. you can't die on me!" shinra finally got to say on top of his lungs as more tears started to flow down his features, making the female sigh and place a hand on his cheek. "luckily, before i reach my end, i'm able to see... the face of the guy i fell for." she smiled, and that's when shinra's world started to crumble. no... she can't leave...

"(y/n), listen here. this is not the way to fix the imbalance, alright? you're gonna live, i swear that." shinra said with a smile plastered on his lips, but as if the female didn't even hear him, she didn't reply as her hand started to trail down to the ground.

"until the stars align again, shinra. sayonara." (y/n) said in a gentle tone before finally drifting away from her short consciousness, which left shinra completely blank.

what- what the hell just happened? he asked inside his head, not noticing the fact that (y/n) was now being taken to an ambulance. he didn't notice anything at all, not even when the things he grew familiar with in just a short span of time started to disappear until it was all just a neighborhood in tokyo in the middle of daylight.

"oi, akuma! you finally showed up! you've been gone for a while, you idiot! you don't know how much trouble you caused the team." shinra heard from afar and due to confusion, he turned his head to face whoever it was, and when he saw his blonde frenemy, arthur boyle, he hurriedly swept himself up to his feet.

"arthur... wh-what are you-" the black-haired male started, but when he roamed his sight around the area he was in, he lost all his hope.

he was back in front of the company 8's building. his home.

"you seem to be in a rough shape, man. come on. let's get you inside for some rest. is that cool with you?" arthur asked as he slid shinra's arm over his shoulder to help him walk. usually, shinra would freak out about it, but since it was a crucial moment, he did the opposite.

"yeah. thanks, man."
