오십. This new feeling.
Ni-ki watched Sunoo slurp up the soup of his order with raised eyebrows as a smile appeared on Sunoo's face. The older was indeed satisfied and he couldn't thank Ni-ki enough for the delicious meal. Sure he could've eaten Pho with Kaito, but he couldn't care less if it's with Ni-ki, as long as he's eating. And he can spend more time with Ni-ki.
"What's wrong?" Sunoo asked whilst munching on his face, looking at Ni-ki as he stared down at his food.
"I never had Vietnamese food before." A long gasp escaped Sunoo's lips as Ni-ki looked at him, startled.
"You never had Vietnamese food before?!" Sunoo asked in disbelief. Ni-ki shook his head, as Sunoo believed that all Ni-ki eat is fast food.
"You should take a bite, it's really good." Sunoo exclaimed as Ni-ki took the Banh mi in his hands, taking a bite and chewing it as Sunoo anticipated his reaction.
"It's..really good wow.." Ni-ki took another bite, gulping down the last bite he had. Sunoo smiled brightly, sliding his Pho towards Ni-ki.
"Here, this soup's really good." Ni-ki raised an eyebrow, taking the spoon that was on the bowl and taking a sip as Sunoo gasped.
"What? Am I eating it wrong?" Ni-ki asked as Sunoo shook his head, pointing at the spoon.
"T-That was in my mouth.." Ni-ki's eyes widened, drinking water immediately as if that would do anything. So far, Sunoo had loved his time with Ni-ki. There weren't any conflicts, no troubles, it was all good and he wished it would stay like that.
A ring was suddenly heard from Sunoo's phone, flipping it over to see Heeseung calling. Ni-ki noticed Sunoo's fazed look, curious about who's calling.
"Who's calling?" Ni-ki asked.
"It's uh..It's Heeseung hyung."
Wow, Ni-ki hasn't heard that name in a while. He never got in contact again with his friends ever since he left so hearing one of their names took him a bit by surprise.
"I'll be right back." Sunoo stood up and took the call outside the restaurant as Ni-ki watched him from the glass windows.
"Hi, Heeseung hyung."
"Sunoo, you picked up! Oh thank god, we were so worried! The last time anyone of us checked up on you was when Jake sent you a message!" Heeseung's concerned voice warmed up Sunoo's heart as the last time he's heard it was about four months ago.
"Hi, Sunoo hyung!" Jungwon's voice was also heard, as well as Jay and Sunghoon said hello as well, suddenly wanting to facetime. Sunoo wanted to so badly but he couldn't just let Ni-ki wait for him there, and he was in public too.
"Listen, guys, I'd love to talk to you I really do but I'm eating lunch with uh..with someone right now." Sunoo sighed, eyebrows furrowing when he looked at the windows and saw no sign of Ni-ki.
"Someone? You sounded weird saying that. Who's this someone?" The five of the guys on the phone teased him, making Sunoo's ears red.
"It's-"
"Hi, hyungs." Sunoo looked behind him, startled to see Ni-ki right there, leaning a bit down. Sunoo could hear their friends gasp hard.
"N-NI-KI?!" They all shouted as Sunoo put it on speaker mode but a bit low.
"SUNOO, TELL ME THAT'S NOT NI-KI."
"It is Jake hyung..it is.."
"YOUR VOICE- IT SOUNDS SO DEEP WHAT?!" Jay screamed, making Sunoo roll his eyes.
"NI-KI??? I MISS YOU, YOU HAVEN'T RETURNED ANY OF MY CALLS!" Ni-ki could literally see Jake's pout saying that.
"WAIT WAIT- Why are you guys having lunch together?" Sunghoon asked, curious on how the two ended up together. Of course, the first thing in their minds would be 'Are they dating again?' But they didn't wanna ask them that yet.
"We bumped into each other-"
"He works for me."
A long trail of gasps was heard on the other end as their friends had so many questions but were shocked at the same time.
"So like, Ni-ki's a CEO now?!" Jungwon gasped.
"We're so proud of you, our baby Ni-ki!" Ni-ki cringed at their remarks as Sunoo found it cute that instead of getting mad at Ni-ki for disappearing out of nowhere, they still deep down cared for him way too much.
"Alright, we'll let you guys finish your little date-"
"JAKE HYUNG!"
"What?!" The beep was audible, meaning the guys had already ended the call. Sunoo blushed at Jake's words, but not wanting to make Ni-ki uncomfortable as well.
"T-This isn't a date, pfft. Let's go, you paid for the bill?" Ni-ki's heart clenched a bit, slowly nodding to Sunoo question. He doesn't know why it hurt him when Sunoo denied it was a date, it was just a casual lunch, in fact, he even got hurt when Sunoo tried denying who he was with and how he was related to him. Maybe it was all just in his head, he shouldn't overreact so much.
-
Ni-ki just walked behind Sunoo, peeking at the older's phone from time to time since Sunoo looked so busy. It looked like he was texting someone.
"Who are you texting?" Ni-ki asked in hopes of making a conversation.
"Heeseung hyung, my friend sent him a friend request on Facebook but he doesn't know her so.." Sunoo laughed, explaining to Heeseung that it was just Emi being interested in him.
"Friend who's..?" Ni-ki asked as Sunoo showed him a reassuring smile.
"It's just a friend from my old convenience store job. I actually told her about you and-" Sunoo hesitated, not wanting to complete his sentence. It might not be comfortable for Sunoo to talk about telling Emi everything that has happened between them.
"And?"
"Hm? Nothing..look, an arcade!" Sunoo's eyes diverted to the place that had colorful neon lights, going closer to see that it had a lot of games and prizes. Out of curiosity, the pink-haired boy went inside, and the more he looked the more his inner child came.
"You wanna try? Unless we have to go now." Sunoo asked Ni-ki as the younger checked his phone for the time. They still had another hour, so maybe it didn't hurt to try.
The whole time, Ni-ki just stood there and watched Sunoo play games like mini hockey or laser shooting and more, it did look like his hyung was having a lot of fun. Ni-ki never went to places like these ever since he came back to Japan. His time was always occupied by learning hotel management to inherit his father's resort, he rarely did any more things teenagers did.
"You should try!" Sunoo made way for Ni-ki to play as Ni-ki stared at the claw machine right in front of him, looking at Sunoo right in his eyes.
Sunoo won't lie, his eyes glistened from how cute the stuffed toy was.
"It's impossible to reach that for it's too far.." Sunoo pouted as Ni-ki grabbed the token out of his hand, inserting it on the slit of the machine.
"W-what are you doing?" Sunoo stuttered. Ni-ki smirked and looked at Sunoo.
"Just watch and learn."
Ni-ki slightly stuck his tongue out, moving the claw at the right angle above the fox Sunoo wanted, pressing the red button. Sunoo's breath hitched as the fox got gripped by the claw.
The claw brought the fox near the opening, but it fell on the edge making Sunoo whine.
"EH?! That was so close!" Sunoo stomped his foot and groaned, pouting and looking at the fox on the edge of the hole.
Ni-ki saw how frustrated Sunoo was, looking around the arcade. There weren't a lot of people since this was the 21st century, kids nowadays don't go to the arcade much since there were lots of games downloadable for phones.
"Cover me." Ni-ki smirked and grabbed the top edges of the machine, making Sunoo hiss at him.
"Y-yah! What are you doing?!" Sunoo whisper shouted, looking around to see no one watching. Ni-ki shook the machine as Sunoo gasped from the nervousness of someone seeing them.
"Y-YAH!" Sunoo hissed at Ni-ki as the younger pointed at the bottom compartment.
"Got it." Ni-ki winked.
Sunoo crouched down and saw the cute fox. It was finally in his hands.
"OH! You did!" Sunoo looked at Ni-ki and hugged him tightly.
"Thank you!" Sunoo thanked Ni-ki as the younger blushed, gulping and smiling at how small and cute Sunoo was acting.
It seems like Ni-ki was the only one who remembered that core memory since this whole place didn't seem to give Sunoo deja vu. Ni-ki sighed and walked nearer towards the claw machine, inserting the shiny gold token on his hand, hearing a high pitched robot's voice saying 'start!'.
Ni-ki didn't really think of having the thought of going inside an arcade and standing right in front of a claw machine when the say started but here is, gently pressing the red button to which the claw went down to grab this cute little cheetah, making Sunoo gasp.
"How'd you do that? I wasted fifteen coins to get something and it just took you one try!" Sunoo complained about his lack of claw machine skills as Ni-ki took the cheetah plushie out of the metal box below. The younger didn't hesitate to hand it to Sunoo, making Sunoo look down at it.
"Why are you giving it to me?"
"I don't need it, it's useless." Sunoo pouted, grabbing the plushie and hugging it.
"It's okay, if Ni-ki doesn't want you, I'll keep you." Ni-ki averted his eyes to Sunoo hugging the toy and it bothered him that Sunoo wasn't saying anything like 'thanks for getting me a plushie again.'
But it didn't really matter, it was a stupid flashback to remember and Sunoo probably threw it in the trash years ago.
-
It had been a few hours that passed and the two spent most of the whole day in the mall, eating and Sunoo dragging him to places since it's been a long time since both have done anything fun that's not work related.
At first, Ni-ki found it bothering and unprofessional of Sunoo, but giving that it's Sunoo after all, Ni-ki had gotten used to it the whole day. Sunoo didn't notice but he did have a small thought that Ni-ki wasn't enjoying. Did he do something? Did he say something?
It's now five in the evening and they're in the car, driving back to the resort. Even the whole ride Ni-ki had been silent and it's creeping Sunoo out.
"Ni-ki?" Sunoo called out his name, but the younger had his eyes on the road, lips fully shut.
"I'm sorry if I did anything wrong today." At this point Sunoo expected no answer, leaning back into the seat as he looked out the window.
"I didn't mean to hurt you again, I'm sorry." Sunoo tried his best to sound a bit brighter but given that he doesn't know what he did wrong made it hard for him to do so.
Ni-ki didn't mean to make Sunoo upset, but he himself was also upset, upset at himself. Look at where he is right now, driving Sunoo and himself back to the office, had spent a day with him too. Maybe this day had reminded him of the times they had spent together before that it bothered him to even remember the little things like that..plushie.
He doesn't know how or why he's letting himself give in to Sunoo again, but all he knows as that it does seem like Sunoo had been trying his best to get closer like before and that gives Ni-ki just at least a bit of a reason to be nicer to Sunoo.
-
Sunoo had walked up to his desk, clearing all his things and grabbing his small bag and heading down the lobby where he'd call for a cab back home. He and Ni-ki had parted ways immediately as soon as they got to the parking lot of the office and he wasn't even able to say a proper goodbye.
Sunoo was upset the whole time the elevator had been going down, the metal doors opening as he walked towards the glass exit doors.
"He took you to lunch so maybe I can take you home this time?"
Sunoo turned around to see Kaito softly smiling, walking towards his direction with his hands in his pockets. Kaito was just about Ni-ki's height so he felt small around him too.
"Care for a ride?" Kaito asked as Sunoo looked around, seeing if he wasn't talking to anyone else.
"Oh, you're talking to me." Sunoo sarcastically laughed as Kaito's lips curved up.
"Who else would I be talking to?"
"I don't know, maybe you can talk to ghosts, I don't know." Kaito laughed at Sunoo's remarks, as Sunoo chuckled back.
"You're funny, pretty boy. Does Ni-ki like your humor too?" Sunoo's smile instantly faded away at the sound of that name, and Kaito noticed that. Kaito himself thought that maybe something had happened so he cut that name off from his vocabulary tonight.
"Frowning doesn't look nice on you." Kaito's words had made Sunoo's cheeks heat up, squinting his eyes at the taller.
"I guess you can take me home." Kaito smiled, letting Sunoo walk ahead. Sunoo didn't know but something about how Kaito talks to him made him feel comfortable. Sure it might be dangerous since they've only known each other for a day but Sunoo needed a distraction, too much Ni-ki this, Ni-ki that in his head.
-
"So you're telling me, Ni-ki's basically your ex, you dated four years ago till you broke up with him and now you're his secretary?" Kaito asked, trying to get a clear view of what Sunoo told him whilst the lights were red. Sunoo hummed making Kaito lean back from shock.
"I-Isn't it suppose to be awkward between you two?" Kaito asked from pure confusion.
"It is awkward, there are just some times that we're okay with each other. But not today though." Sunoo looked down, fidgeting with his fingers as the light turned green, as Kaito glanced at the pink-haired boy.
"Mind me asking what happened?" Kaito kept his manners, not forcing Sunoo to tell him if he doesn't want to.
"It's nothing really, we just ate, then our friends from Korea called, then he uh, he gave me this." Sunoo reached from inside his bag, Kaito's eyes averting to the small plushie.
"After that, he got, quiet all of a sudden, I don't really know.." Sunoo sighed, placing the toy back in his bag, leaning yet again.
"My guess, I think he's just starting to get used to spending time with you, you know, given your little background." Kaito was right, maybe Sunoo had made Ni-ki uncomfortable, that he didn't even think for a second on how Ni-ki feels about Sunoo dragging him to places he probably didn't even want to go to.
They arrived at Sunoo's apartment, Kaito stopping the car in front of the big doors.
"You're home." Sunoo took the seatbelt off, grabbing a hold of his bag.
"Thanks for the ride..and for uh, for listening." Sunoo smiled, as Kaito smiled back, exiting the car as Sunoo watched Kaito open the door for him.
"No problem, pretty boy." Sunoo furrowed his eyebrows at the nickname, Kaito's heart fluttering as he saw Sunoo's cheeks turn red yet again. Sunoo walked up the doors, waving as he got inside and started walking up to this unit.
Kaito leaned on his car, looking down and his lips curving up yet again. He can't help but have the image of Sunoo's smile inside his head, heading to the driver's seat and driving off without that cheeky smile leaving his face.
