𝗔𝘃𝗮'𝘀 𝗣𝗢𝗩

Murphy and Bellamy aim their guns at the trees and I take out my bow, nocking in an arrow. I hear the sheets behind me move and I turn my head to see Finn, Raven and Clarke run out with guns.

"Get down! Grounders!" Bellamy warns them and they dive behind a big pile of mud.

I turn my attention back to the grounders who are currently circling the camp and my heart beats rapidly in my chest.

"They've got us surrounded" I huff as I crouch next to Bellamy.

"We gotta get back inside" Bellamy comments.

"Back inside!" I shout in agreement.

Finn, Clarke, Raven and Murphy obviously agree too and run inside with us, making sure to aim their weapons out as they run.

"Well, that was easy" Bellamy shrugs.

"Not everything has to be difficult, Bell" I smile, tapping his shoulder.

We rush inside and Bellamy takes up position at the door with Murphy. They peek around the sheets and I tighten my grip on my bow in anxiety.

"They're not moving any closer" Murphy announces.

"They're staying out of range" Bellamy states, coming back inside.

"Probably waiting until it's dark" He adds.

"If we hit them now, at least we'd take them by surprise" Murphy suggests.

"We don't even know how many of them are out there" Clarke counters.

"I'm not hearing any better ideas, Clarke" Murphy shrugs.

"We'll give them something" Raven suggests.

"All they want is Finn" Bellamy replies.

"Finn wasn't the only one at the village" Raven states and I look at Murphy in disbelief.

The reason Raven had invited Murphy here with us now seems so cruelly obvious and my heart aches for the boy who has the expression of betrayal on his face.

"What are you talking about?" Clarke asks.

"Raven, hold on" Bellamy starts.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Raven, I came here to protect him. You were the one that wanted me to come. You-" Murphy cuts himself off when he realises the same thing I had just moments ago.

"That's why you asked me to come along" He adds with an amused smirk that hides hurt behind it.

"Enough grounders saw him at the village. They'd believe he was the shooter" Raven reveals her plan.

"Sick bitch" Murphy spits.

"Raven, you don't mean this" Clarke reasons with her.

"You know what they do to people" Bellamy argues.

"They want a murderer, we'll give them one" Raven declares, cocking her gun and pointing it at Murphy.

"Drop your gun!" She shouts at him.

Murphy walks up to her until the barrel of the rifle almost touches his chest and glares at her.

"Go to hell, Raven" He growls.

"Alright, that's enough!" I bark, pushing Murphy back before placing myself in between the rifle and him.

"Whether you like it or not, Murphy is one of us. Put down the gun, Raven!" I snap at her.

"Get out my way, Ava" She warns me.

"I said put down the gun, now" I say in dangerously calm voice, stepping closer to the gun.

"And I said get out my way, before you get hurt" She snarls in anger.

"Stop!" Finn barks, lowering her rifle.

"We're not doing this. They've got us surrounded. The only thing we can do is stay and defend this place" Finn tells us all.

"I'm with you" Bellamy nods.

He looks at us all and we all nod except Murphy who has unshed tears in his eyes that he's trying to hide.

"Murphy.." Finn starts.

"Yeah" Murphy nods.

"Go upstairs with Ava. Watch the rear. I'll take the lower level. You three, take the front gate. That's the plan, all right?" Finn demands.

Murphy heads up the ladders and Bellamy walks outside with Clarke, leaving Raven, Finn and I.

"Hey, we got this" Raven assures him and they hug, my frown deepening in worry.

"May we meet again" He tells her.

"We will" She replies confidently before exiting the ship too.

Finn turns to me and I force myself to past on a weak smile.

"If you give me that may we meet again crap, I will kick you in the balls" I warn him and he cracks a smile.

"I love you, Ava" He tells me.

"I love you too, Finn" I smile.

I reach up on my tippy toes and press my lips to his cheek, lingering a little longer than I should because this feels almost feels like a goodbye.

"Ava!" Murphy shouts and I hear my heart break a little as I pull away from Finn.

"Coming!" I call up to him.

Finn pecks my temple with a warm smile and heads for the hatch, letting me climb up the ladders. I take one last glance at him and he smiles at me reassuringly so I smile back before hauling myself up into the top level.

I see Murphy staring out the hole in the wall that he made, holding his gun at the ready and I walk over to him.

"Hey, Murph" I greet him.

"Hey" He replies, not looking at me.

"I'm sorry about Raven. I know that hurt you" I say sincerely and he scoffs.

"I learned to stop letting Raven Reyes hurt my feelings a long time ago" He shrugs.

"Murph, look at me" I plead and he sighs, looking at me with teary eyes.

"Don't ever let anyone make you believe that you deserve to die. I mean, you tried to kill me and if I can put that aside then there's still hope for you. No matter what, i'll always be here for you" I assure him and he smiles.

"There's no getting rid of you, is there?" He jokes.

"No way in hell" I grin, nudging his arm with mine.

Suddenly I hear screaming and I rush down the ladders, sprinting out the drop ship.

"What's wrong?" I ask when I see the trio all out in the open.

"Finn handed himself over. They took him" Bellamy tells me and I feel like i've been kicked in the gut.

"Murphy, move your ass!" I scream.

I stand at the fence between Raven and Nova as everyone gathers to watch the grounder army set up a huge pillar.

"What is that?" Raven asks.

"It's for Finn" Nova explains.

"They want us to watch" Clarke adds and my eyes water.

"We're gonna get him. We'll get in close and we'll hit them hard" Bellamy assures us.

"Son...there's thousands of them. Even if we could kill hundreds, they'd still wipe out this camp and your friend would still die" Kane states and a tear runs down my cheek.

"We have to try" Bellamy sighs.

"Abby? Abby, we have to do something" Raven pleads.

"No, Raven" Abby replies and I feel anger bubble up in me.

"We can't just do nothing!" I argue.

"Ava, there's nothing they can do" Nova tells me sadly.

I see Clarke walk off with Bellamy and I follow with Raven.

"Take this" Clarke says, handing Bellamy her things.

"What are you doing?" He asks her.

"I'm gonna talk to the Commander" She answers.

"What else do you have to say?" He asks in confusion.

"I don't know! I don't know" She sighs as we all stop at Raven's gate.

"Give me your hand" Raven demands and Clarke holds out her hand.

Raven slips a blade up her sleeve and I gulp.

"If she won't let him go, kill her" Raven says and Clarke nods.

I look up at Bellamy who looks worried and I sigh, glancing back at the girls.

"Things'll go crazy, and then we'll grab you and Finn" Raven explains.

"Clarke, you have to help him. I owe him my life" Raven begs.

Clarke nods and Bellamy opens the door, letting her walk out. He shuts the gate and the three of us all head to the fence again but further away from Kane and Abby.

I watch from afar as Clarke walks through the grounders to meet with the Commander and my stomach turns with worry.

As they're talking my gaze moves to see a bunch of grounders bringing out Finn. They tie him to the pillar and tears stream down my face.

"Come on, Clarke. Do it" Raven mumbles.

Clarke starts walking towards Finn and hope sparks inside me.

"What is she doing?" Raven spits and I hit her arm.

"Shh" I whisper.

Clarke throws her arms around Finn and I watch as he lays his head on her shoulder. After a minute or so I watch as Clarke pulls away and Finn's head falls limp in front of him, his stomach soaked in his own blood.

My breath catches in my throat and my eyes fill with tears, my heart shattering in my chest at the scene in front of me.

"No!" Raven cries and Bellamy catches her as they fall to the grass.

I turn around and sprint towards the gate, throwing it open and running as fast as I can. Just as I think I'm gonna make it without getting caught, I'm grabbed from behind.

"No!" I scream, struggling in their arms "Finn!"

I turn my head to see Nova and tears roll down my cheeks as I sob in pain.

"Let me go!" I beg desperately, clawing at her arms but she looks down at me in pity.

"Finn!" I yell in pain.

"Don't leave me" I sob, falling to my knees.

My knees hit the gravel and I scream loudly as hot tears burn my eyes.

"His fight is over" Nova whispers and I shake my head in denial.

"Clarke promised nothing would happen to him. She promised!" I scream, knowing the blonde will hear me.

"He can't leave me! I need him" I sob.

"You have to let him go" She sighs sympathetically as I cry out, feeling my chest clench tightly in heart break.

"I can't" I choke out and Nova nods.

"I know, Ava. I know" She hugs me tightly.

I cry onto her shoulder, pulling her as close to me as I can.

"He can't be gone" I whimper.
