As I'm sat outside Nova's tent, I start to hear a load of commotion and I look up to see a bright red flare in the sky.

the signal

A loud horn is blown and I see Lexa and Clarke standing on the hill side by side.

"To war!" Lexa screams and everyone cheers loudly.

"Nova, get out here!" I holler, throwing my quiver over my head.

She rushes outside, shoving her sword in it's sheathe.

"What's going on?" She asks, alarmed by all the noise.

"Bellamy did it. We're going to war" I grin happily and she smiles widely.

"We better get going" She states.

We march for miles through the forest, Nova and Octavia never leaving my side.

"Hey" I hear Clarke speak and I turn my head to see her slow down next to me.

"What do you want?" Octavia asks in boredom.

"I'm changing your mission. You're not going into the mines with Indra. I'm placing you both in the rear guard, where you'll be safe" Clarke tells us and I look at her in disbelief.

"Like hell you are. I don't take orders from you. I take orders from Indra" Octavia snaps back sassily.

"I'm trying to protect you, Octavia" Clarke sighs.

"Protect me" Octavia scoffs.

"One day, hopefully, you'll understand what I did" Clarke says.

"Never. I'll fight this war with you now because I want our friends back. But after that, we're done" Octavia states.

Clarke looks at me pleadingly and I shake my head.

"I'm not staying in the background, Clarke. I've been training for this since I landed on this goddamn planet. I'm going into the mines and I'm getting our friends back" I tell her sternly and she sighs, shaking her head.

"The Commander's looking for you" Indra tells Clarke, walking in between Octavia and I.

Clarke speeds up and Indra lowers her voice.

"What was that about?" She asks.

"Clarke's trying to reassign Ava and I to the rear guard" Octavia scoffs angrily.

"You're warriors. You'll be in the mines with me" Indra states authoritatively and I nod.

"I know what bothers you. They knew about the missile" She then adds.

"How could you not hate them?" Octavia asks in confusion.

"Or at least dislike them?" I add curiously.

"Indra, they almost killed you" Octavia stresses.

"They didn't do anything. The enemy did. Lexa's a great Commander because she's ruthless. That's why we'll win this battle" Indra explains to us.

"That's wrong" I reply with a frown.

"That's war" Indra retorts.

She lets out a loud battle cry and everyone around joins in, marching forward with their weapons held high.

Nova storms forward and I turn to Octavia who grins at me before holding up her sword and screaming loudly with the group. I let out a short laugh that no one hears and continue to march on towards Mount Weather.

Two bulky looking grounders approach me as I am sat down with Nova and Ren.

"Can I help you?" I ask in confusion.

"Klark would like to see you" One of them tells me in Trig.

I hop to my feet and shoot my friends a smile before following the men towards the Commander's tent. As I enter, Clarke smiles at me and I look at her questioningly.

"You wanted to see me?" I ask.

"Yes. We're about to have a meeting about the plan. You said you wanted to know, right?" She replies.

"And you trust me?" I ask hesitantly.

"If there's anyone here that I fully trust, it's you" She assures me and I smile.

"Welcome, Sky Crew. Join us" Lexa greets a group of my people as they enter the tent.

"A package from Raven" David Miller tells Clarke, showing us a metal canister.

"Hydrazine?" I ask curiously.

"She said it would do the job" David nods.

"Good" Clarke responds.

"And, uh, your mother wanted to be here too" David tells the older blonde.

"I know, but the wounded in Tondc need her more" Clarke nods.

"Field Commanders, today's the day we get our people back" Lexa announces as we gather around the table.

I take my place beside Clarke and Lincoln nudges my arm, shooting me a small smile. I return it and he looks up again, his face turning stone.

"The enemy thinks it's safe behind its doors, but it's not. When It realises that, it will fight back...hard" Lexa tells the group.

"We need to be ready" She adds before turning to look at Clarke.

"This is a rescue mission. We are not here to wipe them out. There are people inside that mountain that have helped us, children who have nothing to do with this war. We kill their soldiers, their leadership if we have to, but we are there to rescue our people. Is that clear?" Clarke rants.

There's a soft chatter amongst the tent and I roll my eyes.

"She said, is that clear?!" I yell and everyone nods in agreement.

"Then let's begin" Clarke declares, sending me a grateful smile to which I shrug in return.

"There are four teams. Two of them -at the dam and in the mine- are moving into position already" Clarke starts and my eyes widen.

she's distracted me so they'd leave without me!

"The third -inside the mountain- is freeing the grounder prisoners as we speak. It is our job as the fourth team, to keep the eyes of the enemy off of them for as long as possible" Clarke speaks.

"To do that, we have to be in position here" She says pointing at the small model of Mount Weather's front door "At the main door with our entire army"

"The mountain men believe the door can't be opened from the outside, so they leave it unguarded. Only it can be, and thanks to our source on the inside, now we know how. According to Maya, the electromagnetic locking system has one flaw. When the power goes out, it disengages. That's where Raven's team comes in. The mountain's electricity is generated at Philpott Dam. By now, they've taken the turbine room. It's their job to blow the power. Once they do, we blow the lock" She explains.

"There is a catch, a backup generator inside the mountain. If the lock is still functioning when that backup power kicks in, we'll never get that door open, we'll never get our people back" Clarke tells us.

"How much time do we have until the backup power kicks in?" David asks.

"One minute. That's the window" Clarke answers.

"Small window" David sighs.

"Why don't we just take out the backup generator too? Bellamy's inside. Have him do it" He adds.

"Leaving them without power that long would kill them all, and as I said, that's not the mission" Clarke replies.

"Besides, we lost contact with Bellamy" She adds.

"What? We did? When?" Monroe asks, worried for her friend.

"Why didn't you tell me?" I snap at the older blonde angrily.

"It was after he took out the acid fog. I didn't want to worry you" Clarke tells Monroe and I.

Before I can argue with the girl, Lexa butts in.

"Bellamy's a warrior. He'll be fine" She states and I clench my jaw, biting my tongue.

"As the Commander said, once the door is open, the shooting will start, and they'll throw everything they have at us, but that's what we want. We want them looking at us because while we're fighting at the front door, Indra's team will be escorting the prisoners out the back, right through the reaper tunnels" Clarke continues her speech.

"Once all our people are free, they'll sound the retreat. We'll be back home before Mount Weather even knows they're gone. And that's it" She finishes, turning to me "That's the plan"

There's a short silence and I break eye contact between Clarke and I, looking at the small model of Mount Weather.

"The mountain has cast a shadow over these woods for too long. They've hunted us, controlled us, turned us into monsters. That ends today" Lexa declares.

"Thanks to our alliance with the sky people, the mountain will fall. As Clarke said, we spare the innocent. As for the guilty..." Lexa drawls off.

"Blood must have blood" She growls out.

The grounders begin chanting the words 'Jus dren jus daun!' over and over again as loud as possible. I join in the chanting and Clarke soon follows.
